“All my friends are demons, take it slow…” REBOOT o/o | closed

Everyone has their demons. Some feed them, some fight them. But for Bailey, they are exactly what he asked for. Long ago, he made a contract with a few demons, and they attached themselves to him. They are his only company. No one can see them, no one knows about them, but they are there, endlessly talking or fighting amongst themselves, and also being there for Bailey. But Bailey does not have any other friends, he’s not allowed to. It would violate his contract, and he would die. Another catch, one Bailey didn’t realize until it was too late? These demons are hungry. And Bailey is their host. They feed on him daily, draining him from morning till night.
But then, one day, someone enters Bailey’s life. They notice him, somehow, and they’re nice to him. They ask how he’s doing, they do him favors. They’re… cute. As this person and Bailey grow closer, he can’t help but wonder; why isn’t he dead? Doesn’t this violate the contract? Weren’t they being friendly?
But then, he figures it out. This person doesn’t want to be his friend. No, they want to be… something more.

Name: Lucas 'Luka' Miller
Age: 17 turning 18
Gender/pronouns: Cis male, he/him
Sexuality: queer, he doesn't like labels but knows he likes pretty much everyone, leans more to masc present/males
Personality: Luka is a social butterfly, pretty outgoing and enthusiastic, loves making friends and being surrounded by people. His social battery can last quite a long time with the right people. Party animal, does drink but refuses to smoke or do drugs (mayyybe weed here for there but he draws the line there). He plays football and has since he was a kid, has also played pretty much every sport the school has offered but football is his favourite. He likes keeping active, and sitting still can be a challenge at times. Doesn't like bullshit and will tell it like it is Doesn't tolerate bullies or harassment to anyone of any gender or sexuality or ethnicity. Pretty much your classic golden retriever dude (even if his appearance can show otherwise). Tries to hide the fact he has terrible anxiety - frequent panic attacks and anxiety attacks. He's never gotten help for it since he's never told anyone before. Probably has mild depression but it's not serious (at least not in his mind, honestly he thinks everyone has those types of thoughts so he's never thought he might have the condition - tbh, he should be seeing a therapist. Even though he surrounds himself with friends he still does feel lonely at times like no one really understands him. Most of his friend group think he's straight, anyway, he's kept that on the low down for his years in high school, afraid of what they might think if the star child Luka was gay.
Appearance: Luka stands at a whopping 6'4- He has a tanned skin tone, fairly pale in the winter season. His hair is fairly short on the sides and long on the top, wavy, and a very nice dark brown, basically a mullet (but not the ugly kind I promise). He has a defined facial shape, naturally large eyes that are a chocolate colour and long lashes. He has a natural resting bitch face which can give the impression that he doesn't like you however is usually quick to smile to hide it. His body is leaner than ripped muscle, though from playing all that sport he is pretty defined in some arms like arms and chest and abs.
Backstory: Grew up the middle child in a fairly rich household. Older brother who is now an adult and moved out and a younger brother who is about 10. His parents are usually out working so he doesn't see them all too often and has taken on a caretaker role for his younger brother. Kinda neglected as all middle children are but he doesn't mind as much, as long as his younger brother gets enough attention. Dad is a HIGE twat but his mother is a lovely woman - she's usually away out of town for business or home for a week and then gone for another two.
Other: huge fan of dancing and the arts, wants to get more into it but is very afraid of what his dad might think.

Sexuality: doesn’t prefer any particular label, but dudes do be looking fine tho
Personality: this boy is,,,, tired. He’s tired of life, he’s tired of everything, and yet, he makes it a personal goal to see how late he can stay up. He’s quite introverted, just preferring to be on his own. He’s used to being independent, but at the same time has a lot of trouble taking care of himself. Has both abandonment and trust issues, and is trying his best to work on them, but thinking about it a lot inadvertently causes him a lot of anxiety. He’s also fairly intelligent, and he likes to spend a lot of time researching topics he’s interested in on the internet. One of these interests is fashion and makeup, but he often hides that from others, even the demons. Oh, also… he’s a pyromaniac. Just thought I should mention.
Appearance: Bailey is your average 5’6 skinny white boy with ✨problems✨ He has bright, hazel eyes, and he gets freckles when he’s in the sun for a while. Half of his head is shaved, and the other half falls to beneath his chin, sometimes covering his right eye. It’s dyed a pink-purple ombré, but he dyes it in different colors frequently. He typically wears fairly baggy clothes, a sort of androgynous emo clothing style. His left ear is pierced, where he wears a small black earring.
Backstory: all things considered, his childhood was fairly normal. Bailey is an only child, raised by his parents in suburbia. He had a few friends in preschool, but then his family moved to another neighborhood, and that’s when the trouble started. Bailey couldn’t get adjusted. Most of his first grade year was spent alone, trying to figure out if the other kids liked him or not. This continued on for while, and then the bullying began in middle school. It was… bad. He would often come home from school with bruises or cuts, or starving because he was forced to give his bullies lunch money. At one point he tried to tell his parents, but due to some other stuff that had to do with his sexuality, he didn’t think they would help. They always said things like “it’s just a phase” or “just ignore it,” undermining Bailey’s struggles even though they said it with good intentions. Eventually, it became too much to bear. Near the end of his eight grade year, he decided to um, unalive himself. Before he could do so, however, some supernatural creatures approached him….
Other: would absolutely wear skirts and dresses if he didn’t think it was embarrassing and had the money. Also, he has a pet cat named Smoke.

Bailey hated bringing the demons to school. He never knew why they even decided to come. It was always some excuse about how they were making sure he wasn’t going to violate the contract or that they were bonded to him or something like that, but Bailey just didn’t understand. They could just wait until he got home, right? But no, they had to distract him every time he even tried to focus on something to do with school.
Right now, that something was math. Bailey sat at his desk, trying to work out a problem on the assignment for the day, but he couldn’t. One of the demons was apparently hungry, and at the most inconvenient time.
“Azrith,” Bailey whispered. “Leave me alone. Please. I need to focus.”
”You sure about that?” Azrith said. The demon was small enough to fit in his lap, despite their large, feathery wings. Their cat-like ears twitched with amusement, their red eyes and mouth pulled into a smug expression.
Bailey could feel his mental energy draining away. “I’m very sure. Can you come back later to feed? During lunch would be fine.” He laid his head on the desk.
The demon merely stuck their blood-red tongue at him and stayed where they were.

Being known for being late wasn’t exactly the best reputation, at least in the teachers eyes. To Lucas he couldn’t care less whether or not he was late, didn’t make a difference to him. His dad would react the same if he found out and his mum certainly wouldn’t know about it considering she was never around - some business trip or another whisking her away into the night and away from her family, and Lucas could give two damns about maths. How he got A’s in the subject was beyond him but, he guessed it was because he was good at seeing patterns in things, something sport had taught him over the years.
Rocking up late, old worn out shirt he’d probably worn to the gym recently giving him that ‘I don’t care’ look when paired with his varsity jacket, Lucas wandered into class and gave the teacher a charming smile, even if it went unappreciated as he took a seat. A full class, bar the one seat left next to Bailey. They’d never talked, at least not really. Lucas knew of him because well, he had the rep of being the weird, quiet kid, but Lucas wasn’t all that sure he was weird. He sat next to him, leaving a decent amount of space between them before he whispered, “Hey - do you have a pan? I lost mine.”

Bailey didn’t see the late arrival. He still had his head on the desk, trying to get Azrith off of him while also not falling asleep. His bones ached and his brain was turning to mush. “Sillmud,” he moaned, because she was the nicest of all the demons who would keep the more unfriendly ones from bothering him.
”Oh, Bailey!” The chipper voice was music to his ears. ”Hi there! Need me to take them off your hands?” They grabbed Azrith by the scruff with her sparkling purple arms.
”Hey! I’m feeding here!” the tiny demon complained.
Bailey could only nod to show his thanks. Sillmud’s eyes glimmered with amusement, and she disappeared with a grumbling Azrith.
That’s when he felt a new presence. Something much more… corporeal. He turned to see a tall boy sitting next to him. This was strange. Nobody ever sat next to him. He apparently had this weird aura about him that kept people away, which he believed was mostly the demons’ fault. But it seemed it couldn’t be avoided; all of the other seats were full. Bailey wouldn’t mind this too much if not for the fact that that this was one of the popular kids, and his tall stature reminded him very much of his bullies from middle school. He warily avoided eye contact.
“A pen?” He repeated. “Um, I think so…” he started digging in his backpack and brought one out.

“Aw legend, thank you so much you’re a life saver.” Lucas gave Bailey his signature grin, genuine, despite what it may seem sometimes. He wasn’t going to deny the fact he thought Bailey was interesting. Maybe it was due to the fact teenagers talked, a lot, and especially about the quiet kids who didn’t seem to fit in. As much as Lucas was one of the popular kids, and he looked quite intimidating and angry most of the time, he really wasn’t, and he tried his best to show it. Sure, it was difficult on days where he felt like screaming at people, but he always tried his best to suppress that side of him. Mainly by ignoring it, like all his other problems, “You’re Bailey, right?” He whispered, scribbling down in his book the maths problems on the board. He may as well try and get to know him, even if it was just for one lesson.

Bailey found the grin to be unsettling, if he was being honest. “Y— yeah, of course.” Please give it back when you’re done.
So far, so good. All he asked for was a pen, and he was nice about it. Thank god he didn’t ask for lunch money or something. He turned back to the math problems. He thought that was all there was to it, but apparently not. Now the dude asked who he was. He sighed to himself.
“Um, yeah?” He tried to focus on the problem and this jock at the same time. “Who’s asking?”

Lucas shrugged, glancing between his own page and Bailey, "I dunno, just wanted a chat that's all." He could tell that he wasn't a talkative person, and that was fine. There was a reason the teachers he had often called him a distraction, however, among other wonderful compliments he'd received from them throughout the years, "We haven't really talked so… I figured maybe we could now?" Of course, during the middle of class wasn't the best time, but when would he have another opportunity? Next maths lesson?

Bailey furrowed his brow. What was he talking about? “Um… you answered the wrong question,” he said. “I said, ‘who’s asking.’ I want to know who you are.” He glanced over at him, just confused as to how he was misunderstood so badly.
“Oh? What’s this?” Sillmud’s voice rang out beside him. Bailey flinched a little, caught off guard by the demon’s sudden presence. “Wow, I don’t think someone has attempted to talk to you so genuinely like this in…” she paused. “Forever!” She started inspecting the other boy curiously.
Thanks for the input, Sill. He sighed to himself.

"Oh! Right yeah, sorry," He huffed a small, quiet laugh at his own stupidity, "I'm Lucas. Guess I'm not used to people recognising who I am." It came with the whole 'being popular and on the football team' thing. Lucas caught the subtle flinch and frowned, "Are you okay? I don't want to make you uncomfortable or anything." He glanced at the teacher who, luckily, was more focused on writing the correct problem on the board then on them.

“Well, hello Lucas.” He raised an eyebrow briefly. “So, you just wanted to chat? And why’s that?”
Bailey wanted to see if he could gauge any sort of motive beyond this guy being extroverted enough to talk to him and the happenstance of them sitting next to each other. That was sometimes what bullies did. They came up to you, seeming genuine, but then they screw you over later on because that was the whole idea.
He paused. “Oh, um… I’m fine.” He didn’t think he would notice his movement. “It’s not you.”

Lucas shrugged softly, "You looked like you could use a friend."
He knew that he could come across as arrogant, probably like a dick head, in all honesty, and it was why he tried so hard to be the opposite, but Lucas tried to be friendly to everyone, why he made sure he was smiling to people to show he wasn't like that, "And maths is boring, I'm hoping you're more interesting then quadratics." He didn't push anymore when it came to why he had flinched, he left it at what Bailey had said about him being fine, even if he didn't quite believe it, "But I understand if you want to focus."

“A friend?”
Bailey turned toward the voice, finding a small, satyr-like creature wearing a cloak floating just above his desk. His eyes were strange, even for being a goat’s. They danced and and shifted in their sockets like kaleidoscopes, and it made it difficult to look at him.
“You’d do well to remember your contract,” the demon said with a glare.
“Hi Cedrak!” Sillmud waved at him. He didn’t respond in any capacity.
Bailey resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Cedrak, always looming over me to remind me about the contract. He turned back to face Lucas.
“I… I see.” He wasn’t sure if he could believe his intentions were wholly innocent just yet. “I understand, but I would like to focus. I’m sure you can satisfy your boredom some other way.”

Lucas wouldn't lie; he was a little disappointed but wasn't an ass, as much as he looked it and relented, "Okay, I'll leave you to focus." He turned to his notes, opting to doodle in the corners of the page and around the maths he disliked. He couldn't help the want to get to know Bailey, because someone was always talking about someone in the school, and usually, it was the weird kids, the quiet ones with no friends who got picked on.
And as the class progressed the boredom became worse and his thoughts swirled around here and there but returned to the quiet boy he was sitting next to. It was then he remember they were in pretty much all of the same classes, and Lucas was in need of a tutor when it came to English…
After a few moments of contemplation, and knowing the class was ending soon, he turned back to Bailey, "Hey uh, can I ask you something?"

Bailey continued with math, with Sillmud helping him out. She leaned on him uncomfortably, her wild hair getting everywhere. They guided his hand along the page, telling him what to write. Half of the time it sounded like demonic phrases, but Bailey ignored this. He was somewhat used to it. Cedrak had vanished by now, but Bailey got the sense that he was still watching.
Soon enough, he finished with the math assignment for the day and turned it in at the front. He went back to his seat and slumped in his chair, Sillmud waiting for him.
“We’re such a good team, right Bailey?” They smiled.
“Yep,” Bailey muttered. “Going to nap, Sill.”
But just as Sillmud went quiet, he heard Lucas’s voice. He raised his head and turned to him. He couldn’t help but sigh. “What?”

Lucas felt a pang of guilt when he heard the smaller boy sigh. Damn, was he really that annoying? Or was Bailey just like this with everyone? Considering the other didn't really have any friends Lucas hoped that it was the latter. He knew that he could be big and intimidating, and well, probably annoying when he was pushy and wanted something, but he did his best not to be. His friends were dicks but that didn't mean he had to be. And regardless, he actually did need the help. Academics wasn't his thing, as shown by the fact that he had enrolled in and participated in every sport under the sun that he could get his hands on.

He tapped his pen on the page, chewing his lip for a moment before he looked from Bailey, down to his maths book, and then back again, "You're smart, you seem to know what's going on when it comes to," He gestured with his pen vaguely in the air, "This stuff. I uh- I'm having some trouble with English, not exactly my thing, and I was wondering if maybe you would be willing to help me out?" Otherwise, he was going to fail and he couldn't have that. His dad would kill him if he did and Lucas was looking for as little confrontation with the man as possible.
