All Roses Have Thorns // One-On-One // CLOSED

Seralia and Traedia. Two warring kingdoms. Both thinking the other is in the wrong.
The kingdoms of Seralia and Traedia have been warring for years. So many years that two generations of rulers have gone on the throne since it has started.
Now the third generation takes the throne. Two rulers, both alike in age and motives. Both looking to put an end to this long drawn out war.

So I want a kinda serious RP with a minor romantic subplot. I don't care what pairing the rulers end up being, but I will be doing a female. If you're OK with gay, then you may also do female. If not, and you are not willing to be a male, please do not ask. I am not changing my mind and will say no if you suggest it.
Also I'd kinda like to take Seralia, not that it matters (I just like the name more). And yes, this will be fantasy. So…magic.

Appearance: She seems kind of doll-like in appearance. She has violently red, wavy hair that falls to her waist, and bright blue eyes that are just a smidge too wide to look normal. She's very freckled, which she finds unfortunate, and has rather pale skin. She's not very tall, around 5'4," and is very slender. She naturally has a slightly hourglass-shaped figure, but it doesn't seem apparent until she's forced to wear a corset (which is often). She prefers to have her hair down, but whenever she's going to be seem by someone other than her staff, it's kept neatly in a bun.
Style: Generally, she prefers to wear clothes designed for men because they are far more comfortable for her than dresses with 17 layers underneath. Trousers, button-ups, and waistcoats are her general casual wear, but she's fine with simple dresses, as well. Like this style.
Personality: Generally nice to everyone. She gets annoyed easily, but also forgives extremely easily. She doesn't like to get in arguments, but she is set in her beliefs, and if someone threatens them, she will get defensive. She's actually fairly social; she enjoys being around people, but only up to a certain point. She's very observant, and is very good at telling when people are lying. The first impression she gives off is just very warm and welcoming.

Gown for Royal Events: This beautiful thing but the sleeves are loose and made of tulle.

Siblings: 2 younger twin sisters and a VERY missing older brother somewhere.

Appearance: Aeryn has slightly tanned skin with a few freckles all over. Her eyes are icy blue, almost white from different angles. Her hair is pale blonde and waist length. It will also appear white sometimes, and she typically wears it in simple braids or buns.
Style: Aeryn loves the colours white and blue. Because of this, most of her wardrobe is filled with blue or white dresses. She wears paler colours, and almost always wears flats or small heels.
Personality: Aeryn is kind and caring. She is not delicate and will always do what is right. If she is in the wrong, she will accept it and try to fix it in a proper manner. She is confident and defiant. She will not hesitate to fight for her kingdom, but will try to sort it verbally first.
Likes: Her kingdom, Gaius, her powers, wars
Dislikes: Fighting against other kingdoms, being the only one of her family left
Background: Aeryn was born to two beautiful parents. She looked up to them a lot, but lost her father when she was seven. Gaius was twelve. When she was fifteen, Gaius died (explained down at the bottom). Her mother died shortly after. So Aeryn had to wait six years before she could take the throne (21).
Powers: Aeryn was blessed with the power of ice. This is what gave her the pale hair and the icy blue eyes. She is able to both make it and control it. Unlike what some people might think, she can't control water. "Ice might be frozen water but they aren't the same thing." - Aeryn.
She also doesn't know how powerful she really is, since she hasn't had to use it much. However, she is very much aware that she can freeze people's hearts and blood, having accidentally done it before. Once this happens, that person it dead.

Full Title: Queen Aeryn Jupiter Domino of the Kingdom of Seralia
Crown: Aeryn's crown belonged to her great grandmother, the Queen that ruled when the war between Seralia and Traedia first began. It has been passed down generations to Aeryn, and she loves how it is simple but elegant.
Gown for Royal Events: Aeryn has never really been a girly girl, but she adores her ballgown. It involves her favourite colour - pale blue - but has a beautiful pink overlay.
Gown for Other Types of Events: Aeryn's slightly more casual dress is much simpler. The gown is a dark blue, and only the bodice is decorated with a similar coloured lace.
Siblings: Aeryn is actually the younger of two. Her older brother Gaius was five years older than her and completely prepared to be king. Unfortunately, he died in a battle against a different kingdom. Because of this, Aeryn was the only heir to the throne.

"Perfect. Did they say what time she might arrive?"
"Yes, a little after high noon. However, they are not willing to partake in the meeting before the ball."
"Well, that is a little disappointing. Never the less, please continue preparing for the ball tonight. I shall be in my living quarters."

Angelique was certain that everything had already been packed. She'd even reminded everyone that they needed to stop packing, as she didn't need 24 different dresses. "Just the two I've chosen, Eva, please?" Her maid sighed and hung a dress back up.
There was barely time to put her hair up before she was herded out the door and into a carriage, which quickly took off. "I hadn't realised we were in such a hurry, I would have gone faster," she told her advisor, Adelaide, who shook her head as though it wasn't important.
Within a few hours, she was able to see the distant castle of Seralia. It really was lovely.

Aeryn walked calmly towards her chambers. She didn't understand this war, thinking it was quite unnecessary. She didn't know the real reason it started, since she knew her family members had twisted it through the generations. But she wanted to fix it. It wasn't nice to be at war with another kingdom for hundreds of years.
She reached her chambers and closed the door, placing an ice lock on it. Aeryn then walked over to the window, looking out at her kingdom.

Angelique had to work hard not to fall asleep. Remember why you're here, she reminded herself. The problem was that she didn't want to think about why she was here. She honestly didn't want to be here, as she'd had to leave her sisters behind. "Adelaide, you're absolutely sure nothing will happen?" She asked for what must have been the thousandth time.
"No one can predict the future," Adelaide said patiently. Angelique's staff had to be patient with her; she was jumpy, paranoid, and anxious most of the time, and though she didn't like bothering people, she got worried easily. They had eventually adapted to her.
"How long until we're there?" She asked quietly.
"Not so long." Adelaide had a habit of answering vaguely. It occasionally annoyed Angelique, who often needed solid advice from her advisor.

Aeryn placed a hand on the window, and the ice disappeared. The castle had been built with opened windows, and they hadn't implemented glass yet. Any window that needed to be was iced over by Aeryn, which prevented intruders. When she would go to bed at night, she would ice her windows and door over. This meant there was no possibility that her chambers could be broken into, since her ice was unbreakable except for very extreme force. She'd obviously forgotten to unice her windows earlier in the morning.

"OK, OK, OK. So you introduce Angelique, then you introduce me. I go over to her once everyone has begun the ball and produce the flower. I tell her about it and then cover it in a layer of ice. Ask if she wishes to dance or just sit back and converse. If she wants to dance, suggest if I can interest her in one of our knights. If not, ask if she would like to sit in one of the thrones that oversees the ball."
"Yes, your majesty."
"OK, let's do this thing."
"Attention, attention!" Aeryn's squire called out, moving away from the Queen and towards the edge of the stair railings. "Introducing her majesty, Queen Angelique Georgiana Livingston of the Kindom of Traedia."

Angelique slowly walked into the room, looking around. She always hated being introduced, it she was fighting her panic at the moment, and kept a warm smile on her face. This wasn't the first ball she'd been to, but she suddenly felt like all of her training and practice had been useless. Shaking her head briefly to clear it, she made her way towards a wall and prayed to become one with the wallpaper.

At that moment, Aeryn moved to be front and center. She looked around and spotted Angelique almost immediately, making a note to head in her direction.
"Introducing her majesty, Queen Aeryn Jupiter Domino of the Kingdom of Seralia."
Aeryn gracefully walked down the stairs, dress trailing behind a little. She smiled at everyone inside, then reached he bottom. She began to head in the direction that she remembered seeing Angelique walk in.

Angelique looked up when the other queen was announced, but quickly looked back down again, not wanting to seem like she was staring. The woman was certainly eye-catching. Angelique closed her eyes and covered her face for a moment before returning to her original stance. She was getting a headache already.

Aeryn headed in Angelique's direction, greeting guests as she went. She saw one of her oldest friends, the Prince of Leamos, and took a slight detour.
"Caolin!" She said excitedly, bowing. Her crown somehow stayed in position on her head. "How's Leamos been faring?"
"Quite well, actually. And Seralia?"
"As well as it can be while warring with other kingdoms. But hopefully this ball can patch up some things with the kingdom. If you would excuse me," Aeryn exited out of the conversation and moved towards Angelique. She eventually stood directly in front of the other queen. God, she's beautiful. "Queen Angelique?"

Angelique looked up and smiled brightly. "Queen Aeryn," she slipped into a gentle curtsy. "You are looking exceptionally lovely tonight." She stated it politely, but she was definitely not saying this just out of politeness.

"Why thank you," Aeryn smiled, fighting a blush. "I wholeheartedly return the compliment." She pulled a rose out of her pocket. Its petals began at a medium shade of purple, then darkened to black. Its thorns were black. "I wish to give you a gift. This is the Black Thorned Rose. It grows only in Seralia. It is poisonous to anyone without Seralian blood, even its petals. The thorns are irremovable." She covered it in a layer of frost, frost that allowed it to keep its appearance but stopping it from people touched directly. "I hope this might be able to bring peace to our kingdoms, if only in certain areas."

Angelique stared in slight confusion. "I'm… not sure I understand. A flower that has the potential to destroy my kingdom is going to bring peace? I - obviously, I want peace more than anyone, but - so sorry, I'm likely not understanding correctly," she stopped herself. "I tend to do that. It's a lovely gesture."

"With the layer of ice, it can't hurt you." Aeryn smiled sheepishly. "Sorry, perhaps I should have explained that. By giving you our most dangerous flower in a safe way, maybe it will mean something?" She started to panic, but tried not to show it. "I apologise. This might not be as good an idea as I initially thought."

Angelique laughed gently and shook her head. "No, that's quite clever, really. I've never been good at interpreting symbols, I do apologise. Hopefully this can become a small symbol for the peace that we're working to bring."
