Turns out you can only write love songs for someone for so long before you start catching feelings. Too bad they're both stupid.

Eric sat at the booth next to his bandmates, laughing as he took a sip of his beer. The set had gone great, they managed to miss the one band with the frontman he didn't like, and he had the rest of the night to listen to a whole host of other local bands and drink and dance, with the guarantee that it would culminate in a horrible hangover he'll curse in the morning. But right now, it was time for chaos and rivalry.
And okay, yeah, maybe picking a bit of a fight with the previously mentioned lead singer if he ended up actually coming over.
He looked up when one of his bandmates made some jibe about him staring, laughing again. "Yeah, he'd be cute if I could actually stand the fucker!"
Damien was having a shitty night. Sure, the performance hadn’t been bad, but their bassist had been gone and her fill-in left a lot to be desired. Not only that, but his rival’s band had a perfect set.
Sitting down in front of the bar with a groan, Damien ordered beers for him and the band.
Looking around the club, he spotted the last person he wanted to see. Why did he have to perform tonight? he thought. I mean really, as if my night wasn’t bad enough with pretty boy around.
Picking up the beers the bartender set down, he glared daggers at his band rival.
Eric smirked slightly, waving teasingly before turning back to the ridiculous debate happening around the booth. "Jackie-boy, bud, I dunno what you're on, but cereal would definitely qualify as a soup. I will not accept constructive criticism on that, because I'm right and you know it."
Damien scowled at the other a’s he headed towards his bandmates.
“Kira, if I’m not drunk before we leave, please just knock me out,” he groaned, setting down the beers. “Stupid Eric is over there and I don’t think I can stand him much longer sober.”
Kira just laughed and saluted him with her beer.
“Thanks a lot, Kira.”
Eric smiled softly, catching a glimpse of Damien across the bar. "Damn, the fucker looks pissed. How bad do ya wanna be their set went?"
"Heard it was shit."
"Ain't it usually?"
Damien saw Eric smile and scowled.
“That stupid punk,” he growled, taking a drink of his beer. “Probably talking shit about us. Thinks he’s sooo much better.”
“Dude, they were pretty good tonight.”
“MILES YOU TRAITOR!” he gasped, punching the guitarist’s arm. “You’re supposed to gripe with me”
Eric shook his head slightly, focusing back on talking with his bandmates, smile turning a little more genuine, throwing his head back in laughter, hearing the next band up start to play. "Oh, shit, ain't this that new grunge band?"
Damien’s heart skipped a beat when he looked over and saw Eric smile. That fucker…
When the band started playing, he looked away from his rival. “Hey, Kira, is the the band you wanted to see?”
“Yeah, i’m getting closer, wanna come?”
“Nah, I’ll stick here”
She shrugged and headed towards the stage, Miles and the stand-in bassist following. Their drummer had already disappeared after their set earlier, so now it was just Damien in the booth.
"C'mon, I'm heading down front!"
"Wait up, Jack!" Eric said, grinning as he jogged to catch up with his drummer, shuffling through the crowd of people and trying to make sure he didn't stomp down on someone's foot.
Damien sipped his beer and watched everyone crowd the stage. He loved music, and had been looking forward to this new band, but, God, was he exhausted. It had been a long night and an even longer week.
Honestly, he was tempted to take a cab home, but didn’t want to ditch his band.
“Ah this is the life,” he murmured sarcastically to himself, eyes on the stage.
Eric jumped around in the crowd, loud and slightly obnoxious laughter piercing the air, playfully shoving Jack, grinning at his friend's surprised flailing. THIS IS THE FUCKING LIFE!
Jack shoved him back, sending him tumbling to the ground.
