Adam tried to back up away from it, but he lost his footing and slipped. Not yet falling, but it came close. "Yikes! Lilith!"

(Oof, sorry, no he's just clinging onto it. He's afraid he's going to fall.)

"Adam! You okay?" she asked, actually worried about him now. "What happened?"
"It's the monkey! Can you speak monkey?" He asked shutting his eyes tight and hugging the branch.

"The monkey? I… I can't speak monkey, unfortunately. Even if I could… there's really nothing they could do, sorry," Lilith sucked in a breath. SHe hated feeling this way. Helpless. Unable to do anything. Remember, you technically don't exist. But wait! Where was that note she'd gotten the first day? All she'd need to do was write out a note and leave it for Adam's mother to see… wait. From what she'd seen, she wouldn't be likely to help, would she? "Can you… can you inch backwards?"
"I can try…" He mumbled sliding backwards. His heart was pounding and his knuckles were white. "Am I getting close?"

"Yes!" Lilith encouraged him the best she could. "You're doing great! Keep going!"
He nodded and kept inching back. "How much further?" He asked going Little faster.

Lilith said nothing, waiting until he was back at the main area where the branches, well, quite literally branched out. "You're there!" she told him as he reached the area. "See, I knew you could make it back."
He pulled himself back and looked at her. "I did! That was so fun! What now?" Adam asked with shining eyes.

"Fun? You were so scared!" Lilith exclaimed. She saw it in his body, the way it had tensed up, the way Adam had gripped the tree branch, the terror in his eyes, the fear that he would fall. It brought back memories. Memories she didn't want to remember. Her whole body stilled, and now it was her turn for her eyes to fill with terror, as she re-lived that day.
It was a cold, cold day. The snow fell down in sheets, and the temperatures had to be close to freezing. Actually, they probably were below freezing. Her small, small body shivered in the cold, and still, the bus didn't come. How long had she been waiting? It seemed like forever, like she'd been waiting forever. Her small eyes flickered with fear, and her body tensed up. She wrapped her arms around her body, trying so hard to get warm…
"Yeah, but that's part of the fun!" He grinned looking at her. "Hey- you OK?"

"No," she whispered, unintentionally answering his question while responding to the statement. Lilith closed her eyes, desperately trying to seek comfort in the dark, groping around blindly for anything, anything at all. She couldn't let herself show a weakness. No. It was about Adam, not her. "Y-yeah, I'm okay," she managed after a long couple of minutes, whispering so softly Adam could barely hear her.
"You don't seem OK, do you want to go back inside?" He asked looking at her concerned. "It's getting dark outside." He noted as he went to start climbing down.

"Don't worry about me," she whispered again, finally snapping out of it, her eyes open now. "I'll be fine."
“We should still head inside.” He started landing down on the ground. “It’s still getting dark.”

"Yeah… alright," Lilith jumped down to the ground, absorbing all the shock completely, as she was a ghost and she couldn't feel pain.
"I'll race you to the house!" He chirped running off with a grin.

It was then that Lilith shoved her own feelings of despair and pain and… terror away into the deepest corners of her mind and forced a grin onto her face, and sparkles to glint in her eyes for a split second, before racing off after Adam.
"Come on! Before my mom spots us outside!" He shouted back to her skipping and tripping some.

A look of confusion passed briefly over her face before returning to normal. "I'm coming!" she called back, running into the house a couple minutes later.
Adam was quiet and peered through the door. “OK she must be in her room. Are we going back to my room?” He asked looking at Lilith.

"Sure! What time is it?" she asked. Lilith wanted to make sure that before she left, Adam would be perfectly fine. Of course, she wasn't planning to leave anytime soon, but at least before he went to bed.
Adam glanced at a clock on the wall. "Ei-eight….eight-thirty-four?" He struggled some trying to read the wall clock. "Yeah, it's a little bit before nine." He smiled at her heading up the stairs.

"When do you normally go to bed?" Lilith asked. Of course, this was all part of her plan. She would stay just long enough to see Adam fall asleep, and then come back the next day. She'd be with him all day tomorrow, but she planned to cut that time down so he wouldn't need her so much. That was her ultimate goal. She wanted to ensure that Adam had a great childhood.
"My mom doesn't care, as long as I get all my school work and practicing done. Sometimes it's late, other nights I'm lucky." He shrugged pushing his door open. "My mom heads to bed at around ten, some nights I manage to beat her to bed."
