(To the mission, or like right before)
(Want me to start?)
(yes pls)
The prep time towards the mission was filled with snarky comments and insults between the two spies. Somehow, they’d managed to come up with a plan, though. Asher would disable the security system inside and out, allowing TK time to get into the building and find the right room and look for the documents. If the documents were on a computer, Asher would help guide TK though the process of putting the needed files on a memory stick.
Currently, Asher was sitting in a office like room, waiting for TK to arrive at the building. To pass the time, he was throwing a handball against the nearest wall, catching it and then repeating.
TK parked her nondescript car a few blocks away from the building. Although she and Asher had argued almost constantly, somehow they'd ended up with a plan she was sure would work. Begrudgingly, she had eventually admitted that she did need his hacking skills to get in. Once she got close, he'd disengage the security system for just a few minutes. She headed towards the building, disguised in the outfit most of the security guards were. "I'm here," she whispered into her ear piece.
Asher snapped his head back to the computers in front of him, causing himself to get hit in the head with the ball. He cursed softly and rolled his chair over to the screens, "Wonderful. The entrance closest to you has the least amount of security alarms, it sound be easy to get in," He said as he started to disable the system, "On my cue you'll be safe to go in."
"Got it," she said shortly. She straightened her uniform and headed to the entrance.
Asher made sure to be quick, and luckily he'd done and practiced this before so the system was down in a minute, "You're in the clear."
TK pushed open the door, strolling into the stairwell of the building. She climbed up several flights of stairs, keeping her head down. She didn't have much time. Stopping at the eighth floor, she stepped into the hallway. "I'm on the eighth floor," she whispered. "Is it clear?"
Asher hummed a little as he looked over the security cams, "There's a guy coming to your left, small, looks like an intern of some sort… he's… carrying some papers or something I can't really tell but he's going to see you in five… four… three…"
TK plastered on a fake smile. She nodded briefly to the intern, who glared at her for a long moment. "Are you new?" he asked, pushing his glasses up his nose. Before she answered, he went on to say, "So am I." She just smiled and kept moving, hoping he hadn't noticed anything suspicious about her lack of vocalization. She kept going, hanging a left at the next hallway. "Am I still good?"
Asher hummed over the mic, "Yeah, you good." He replied. He scanned all the monitors in front of him, watching the intern walk off without looking back at TK. He released a breath, glad that he wasn't suspicious of her.
TK breathed a silent sigh of relief. Her eyes scanned the white, sterile hallway, squinting underneath the pale lighting. Room 801, room 802, room 803…all the way down to room 817. She jostled the handle of the door. "It's still locked," she mumbled, "I think it's manual. Should I pick it?"
Asher leaned back in the chair, putting his feet on the desk and shrugged even though she couldn’t see, “Well if it’s manual there’s nothing I can do so I guess picking it is the best option.”
"This is why hackers are never as good as field agents," she mumbled, retrieiving her lock picking tools and setting to work. The lock was tricky, but given time she could handle it.
Asher snorted, "I may not be a good field agent but you still need me to get through five firewalls, three security systems and hack into the mainframe of a system just to help you do your job."
"So what?" she mumbled around a tool she'd slipped into her mouth for holding. "I do all the manual stuff. The important stuff. You just sit there. Gotta get your hands dirty once and a while."
He rubbed at his face with both hands, "Have you seen me? I'm a bloody twig, there's no way I'm going out in the field… look, I know we don't like each other, but… the director is right, our skills compliment each other, hence why he have to work together."
"Blah blah blah," TK said, only half listening to what he was saying. The lock finally let out an audible click. She pushed open the door…only to be facing another door, this time with a security code. "Okay, might need your help on this one."
Asher smirked, already making a start in the code, “Easy work, easy.” He mumbled, eyes scanning the code on the screen. It was a simple six digit code, well, not too simple as there’s were many possibilities but it was easy to crack for the small male. A moment later, the door clicked open.
"I guess I should say thanks," she mumbled, walking through the door. Inside were several computer monitors. "Fuck, the documents are digital. Walk me through it or whatever."
Asher chuckled, rubbing his hands together, "Wonderful, right, first you actually have to get onto a computer, I assume you know how to do something that simple."
TK scowled. "Yeah, of course." She searched for the power button, located it, and turned it on. "Alright, what next?"
"What type of password is it?" He asked, typing something out on his computer, "Number or word?"
She squinted at the log in screen. "Umm, it doesn't say. Probably a mixture, right?"
"Probably," He mumbled, frowning at his screens, "It would make logical sense to have it as a written password with numbers involved… but that leaves millions of possibilities."
"Well, can you crack it or not?" she demanded irritably, glancing behind her. "I'm sure we don't have much more time."
"I'm trying dipshit." Asher shot back, hurriedly typing away on his computer, "Gimme a moment."
Someone pounded on the door. TK turned around, her eyes widening. "I've got trouble. Were you still monitoring the hallway?" The knocking grew louder.
