Evangeline nodded. "I can understand that, but you never answered my question. Would you like to stay in my apartment for the night?"
Ayyy... //maybe romance maybe not idc// OxO// CLOSED//
"Wouldn't that be a little awkward? I mean we barely know each other," Phoebe replied, finally making eye contact with Evangeline. She blushed softly and looked away slightly.
Evangeline smiled at Phoebe's slight blushing. "Nah… At least I don't think so. You can sleep on my couch, don't worry, it's super comfortable. And speaking of knowing each other, my name is Evangeline, what's yours?"
"Phoebe. Phoebe Henderson. I would make a joke about that but I'm not actually doing a comedy show right now," She chuckled, more to herself than to Evangeline.
"Cool beans. So you're a comedian then, huh?" Evangeline fiddled with her keys. "So do you wanna stay the night, or no?"
"Only part-time," Phoebe replied. "And only if you're OK with it, I wouldn't want to intrude into your life."
"Oh, I'm more than happy to help a person like you!" Evangeline smiled and fumbled with her keys while trying to unlock the door. After a couple of tries, she opened the door and gestured for Phoebe to come in.
A person like me? Phoebe immediately thought. But, she picked up her blankets and pillow and followed Evangeline into her appointment.
Evangeline showed Phoebe in and shut the door behind her. "Okay, so over here is the couch. It's actually a futon, so it unfolds into a bed. Am I forgetting anything?… Oh! The bathroom is the second door around the corner. Let me know if you need anything." She turned around to leave, then she spun back around. "Also, I don't really have any food so I was going to go to that convenience store down the street. Do you need anything?"
"Oh, no. I work in a cafe so I kinda had food before I left," Phoebe replied. "Oh and thanks for letting me stay, I guess."
"Whatever you say! And of course! I'm very happy to help! So I'll be back in 10-15 minutes… here's my phone number if anything comes up." Evangeline looked around for a piece of paper and eventually found one. She then wrote her phone number on it and gave the paper to Phoebe.
Phoebe took the piece of paper and watched as Evangeline left. The blush on her cheeks deepened and she shoved her face in the pillow.
Evangeline slowly closed and locked the door. She speed-walked down the halls and left the apartment building. She got to the convenience store and started to get some various food items.
It seemed to Phoebe that she'd only just realised how intense her crush on her neighbour actually was. Sure, she'd known that she had a crush on the girl, but she thought it was just like any other crush. Apparently not.
Once Evangeline finally found the perfect snacks for her mood at that moment, she paid and left the store, hurrying back to her apartment. After 3 minutes, she got back to her apartment. She knocked at her door with a foot, as her hands were full.
Phoebe jumped at the sound, surprised. Knowing that Evangeline wasn't home, so she would have to answer for her instead. She got up off the couch and walked towards the door.
Evangeline waited for about a minute, maybe two. She knocked again with her foot, hoping she hadn't woken up Phoebe.
Whoever it is is really impatient, Phoebe thought, opening the door.
Evangeline let out a breath "Thank you so much! What took so long? Oh! Did I wake you up?" She scooted past Phoebe and went to her kitchen to set down her bags.
"No, you didn't wake me," Phoebe replied, closing the door. "I just didn't know who was at the door, and if it was someone you would want me to open it to."
"Ah, I see… but I usually open the door to anyone, there isn't a peephole on my door." Evangeline put all of her snacks away but kept a few. She sat on a stool by her counter and started eating some. "Oh! Do you want some? I have plenty."
"Oh, no," Phoebe said. "I'm really tired, I should get some sleep."
Evangeline nodded. "Mk, I'll leave you to it then… I'll be in my room if you need me." With that, she took some of her snacks and went to her room."
Phoebe sighed, watching her go. Sure, she'd love to spend time with Evangeline, but she has a comedy show that night. She needs sleep.
After about 10 minutes, Evangeline emerged from her room and quietly snuck into the kitchen to put her snacks away. She peeked over to see if Phoebe was asleep or not, then quickly went back to her room.
Phoebe was only half asleep. She was so over-tired, and she kept tossing and turning on the couch. This wasn't normal for her: she would typically fall asleep quite quickly.
Evangeline felt really bad about leaving Phoebe to sleep on the couch, alone. Once again, she snuck out of her room, this time going to the living room. She lowered her voice to a whisper, "Hey… are you awake?"
She woke up quickly, only having fallen asleep a little bit. Her sight was a little bit blurry but then it cleared. "Huh, yeah, I am."
"Okay… I don't know if that's good or bad, but I just felt really bad about leaving you out here alone… If you would like, you can sleep in my bed… and I can sleep on the couch." Evangeline smiled, even though it was too dark to really see even her silhouette.
"No, it's fine. I'm just overtired. I worked late, so I just need a bit of sleep. I'm fine, really. Don't worry about me. Go back to bed."
