Adalia and their college friends entered the lively club, which was blaring with colored lights and loud noises. She looked around admiringly. This was one of the better looking clubs in this neighbourhood, they liked the atmosphere. It was filled almost to the the brim with people, and yet everyone looked so happy, just, vibing to the overhead music. She separated from her group, going to the bar as they went to the dancefloor. She of course, ordered a pomegranate wine, on her rich friends tab (she could summon money, yeah, but that would mess with the balance of matter and energy in the world). Breathing in, she could feel the energy flowing around them; desire, electricity, passion, light and even the vibrations of the earth itself. They drank from her glass and noticed from the side of her eye an interesting figure. She looked closer to see that a handsome man stood there… but she couldn't quite place her finger on what the energy was wafting off of him was. All she could tell was that it was overwhelmingly strong. She looked at his face again and her heart was set aflutter, his face was sharp and thin, his jawline and cheekbones jutting out, which normally would have looked a little scary to her, but he carried it with a sort of… sophistication. They knew he was the most gorgeous, put together man they had ever seen… and possibly might ever see… So she decided to go for it and go talk to him. After all, they had flirted with people at clubs before, what harm could it do?

Sayel was leaning against a wall, a small journal in on hand. He'd hoped that coming to this club to record the happenings in this area would make it a little less boring–it usually did. Unfortunately, he'd been unable to grab any sort of seat, so he was stuck standing. Someone bumped into him, causing his pen to skid over the page and completely ruin his page of observations. Sayel let out a long, annoyed sigh and snapped the journal shut. Normally, he was fortunate enough to get a table, or at least a place on the bar, but his timing was off today. There were people everywhere, all having fun together… and being very much in his way. Sayel tucked the journal into the inside of his jacket pocket and tucked his pen behind his ear. He'd decided his night of recording was over, but that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy himself just a little. And by that, he meant he was going to continue standing there, but this time with a glass of root beer instead of his journal. He glanced towards the bar, intending to start over there. Instead, his eyes locked on the most beautiful person he'd ever seen. And he'd seen a lot of people. Everything about them was beautiful: their dark brown hair, her hazel eyes, the freckles dotting the bridge of their nose… Sayel blinked and tore their eyes away from her. Staring wouldn't do anything for him. People were always put off by his appearance. Apparently, they thought he was a bit scary-looking. It had helped him a lot with his job but left him very, very alone. Which was… it was fine. He didn't need company.

As she walked over, she admired his almost foreboding stare as he glared across the bar at different people. He was holding a journal, but he didn't seem to be writing anything. She just blew it off as another people-watcher, afterall, it is a club, people-watching is done best in paces like these. As she grew closer, the weird energy he was emitting seemed to grow, and oddly, it felt kind of refreshing to her, as if she was regaining something that was stripped from her thousands of years ago. She basked in his aura and took a deep breath, ready to initiate conversation. "Hey there!" she began "I haven't seen your pretty face around here before, and believe you me, I come here VERY often." she chuckled at her own remark, hoping that her flirtatiousness was working "Where you coming from?"

Sayel turned towards whoever was speaking to him, his resting I'm-annoyed-and-might-insult-you face in full force. "That's because I'm normally sitting down, but all the tables are occupied today–" Sayel finally registered who exactly he was talking to and froze. That beautiful person he'd seen was standing right in front of him, and she was talking to him. "I, um, well…" He stumbled over his words, searching for something to say and coming up very empty. "Hi?" Yeah, that was a beautiful start. She hadn't been scared away by his general demeanor, which meant that they were now able to see just how smart he was. Gah, why did she have to be so pretty? He was having an even harder time thinking than usual.

Adalia felt the energy around them changing. She could almost see his aura change from a dark broody mauve to a bright rose color. She knew he liked her. "At a loss for words?" she began, slightly smuggly "I get that a lot" she smiled wide, blushing a bit. He was so cute, both in looks and personality. It was a little corny, but she liked fitting into the corny stereotypes. Gloomy boy, upbeat girl cliche-esque. She looked into his deep teal eyes and kept talking, though still mesmerized by his looks. As she started talking, she looked him up and down, from his dark brown curls, to his big hands, to his dark three-piece suit. A little fancy for a club, but it fit him. "Anyways, you didn't answer my question. Where exactly are you from? Wait- let me guess… you look like… Arizona? maybe Nevada? wait no… SoCal. Final guess." she talked, and gestured at him, expecting an affirmative.

"I–" Sayel gave one last attempt at saying something and decided it was utterly useless. So he just stared at her. His gaze, usually so unapproachable–he'd honed it for years until it was the perfect people-deterrent– softened the slightest bit. He could stare into their eyes forever and be totally satisfied. This fact was a bit worrying, but he brushed his worries aside as quickly as they appeared. He could worry later, when his mind wasn't taken over by this beautiful person in front of him. "SoCal…" Sayel frantically wracked his mind for the meaning of that word. He knew it was a place, but where… where was it? What did it mean? He knew he should have paid more attention to his recordings. "No, not from there. I'm from," he finally said, lips curving into a slightly nervous smile, "here." It wasn't a total lie. He had spent a lot of time in this area. Too much, in fact.

"Huh." they began. The energy floating and shifting around him still seemed to evade her knowledge. They couldn't seem to think of anybody or anything who exuded this type of energy. "You don't… feel, like your from here" she said, but quickly realized how strange, and perhaps even rude that comment was. "I don't mean anything by that, you're just… special" they said, trying to come off more flirtatious than curious. "I'm from not far from here. I'm from Belleview. Came here to Seattle for college. Has more opportunities." While it was a lie, she really did had come from Belleview around a year ago, but before that she had lived almost everywhere in the world, from Jerusalem to Oslo, and from Mecca all the way to Canberra. She couldn't tell him that though. She looked him up and down again, this time, fixing her view on his bright teal eyes. Her heart was set aflutter almost immediately. They wanted him in a way they had never wanted anyone ever before. So she asked him "You know… you're pretty good looking… can I buy you a drink?"

"I don't what?" Sayel's eyes narrowed at her. The expression was made out of confusion, not suspicion, even though his face made it seem suspicious. "Oh." She had probably just been flirting–no, that couldn't be it. There was no way. And yet they had made their way over here. On purpose. So there had to be something. "Oh, I see. That's nice." Sayel nodded, vaguely wishing he could say something just a little more interesting to her. But there was nothing in his mind. He supposed it was a side-effect from constantly having the happenings of a huge space crammed into his head. There wasn't much room for anything else. "I am? I mean, uh, you too. I wouldn't mind if… if you bought me a drink. Thanks." Sayel could feel his face heating up. If she was still talking to him by the end of the night, it would be a miracle. It would probably be better at the end of the night, too. He would be less nervous. Hopefully.

Adalia's heart fluttered at his affirmative answer, it felt so high it could reach the gates of heaven. Metaphorically of course. She would never be allowed anywhere near heaven's gates. "Great!" she composed herself, making sure to try to look even more attractive, though she could tell he was already smitten. She was wearing a yellow checkered mini dress, which exposed her shoulders, her bare back, and most of her thighs. While turning back to the bar, she made sure to put a pump in her walk. She knew he would stare, and she absolutely meant for it. "So, what kinda drink would you like angel-face?"

Yeah, Sayel was definitely staring. For quite a few seconds, too, until he realized she was leaving. Sayel blinked a couple of times, took a deep breath, and followed after her. "Just some root beer. If they tell you they don't have it, they're lying. I get it here all the time." He narrowed his eyes at the bar, as if daring them to say they didn't have any. A few seconds later, the last part of their sentence hit him. She'd just said that in a flirty way, right? There was no way she could tell he was an angel. He was very good at passing for a human (except for the whole aura thing, but he had no idea what that was and therefore wasn't able to hide it). Yeah, they'd just said that because for some reason, they thought his face was pretty. Why, he didn't know. He didn't think it was all that nice-looking.

"Just a root beer?" she asked him skeptically "Not much of an alcohol guy are ya? No worries, I'm not planning on druggin' ya, if that's what your thinking" she laughed a bit, but that was entirely possible thing for him to be thinking. They wanted to make him as comfortable as possible though, so she called the waiter over and asked for another wine and a root beer. The bartender of course, knew they had root beer. He was nice. "So… out of all soft drinks, why root beer exactly?" they raised and eyebrow "Not exactly the sexy boy soft drink. I'd think you'd get a Dr.Pepper or a Mountain Dew or something." Saying this, she got a little closer to him, enough so they could definitely feel the tension between them. Literally.

"Root beer is much better than alcohol," Sayel said, shrugging. "I never thought you were going to, but thanks for the reassurance." It wouldn't have done anything to him anyway, but it was nice that she said that. Not only was she incredibly beautiful, but she also was a good person. Now he really didn't want to mess this up. There was almost a 100% chance he would, but he would try a little harder to keep it going. "Well, it just tastes good. Neither of those tastes very good, at least in my opinion. And Mountain Dew seems like it wants to kill me." Sayel wrinkled his nose at the thought. "Root beer goes well with ice cream, too. Not that there is any here," he continued, mouth pulling down slightly. Maybe after this, once he'd scared away the perfect person, he would go to an ice cream shop. He hadn't had some for a while, and it would be perfect to drown his sorrows in.

group
@The-Dyonisia group

"Oh! You like ice cream?" she smiled warmly, admiring his adorable awkwardness "Now that I look at you, you definitely seem like the ice cream type. In a good way." she really didn't know how he could take that the bad way, but she didn't want to hurt him accidentally. They tended to do that a lot. It's something they're working on. "I'm an ice cream person myself" she said smug, but in a joking fashion. Their drinks came and she handed his to him "Do you dance?" she asked him, trying to sneak it into the conversation discreetly. "I mean, coming to this club specifically, I'd assume you dance" she giggled, pulling a strand of her curly hair with her hand unconsciously, feeling butterflies rise and fall in her stomach as she spoke to this beautiful person.

"Yes. It's a very nice dessert to have. Unless it's cold. Then it's less nice," Sayel said seriously. He took dessert very seriously. "Mmm, thank you." He glanced at the bar for a second, a grin appearing on his face. "You are? Nice." It was very nice that they also liked ice cream. Not that he would be devastated if she didn't like ice cream, but it just made things easier. Sayel accepted his drink, taking a sip of it almost immediately. Mmm… that was some good stuff, right there. "I–dance? I mean…" He did dance, but it probably wasn't the type of dancing people would expect. Although he hated running or even walking quickly places, there was something so peaceful about moving along with the sound of music. It was almost like calligraphy. His hands and body drawing the sound of the music. "Kind of," Sayel finally said, shrugging in a noncommittal way. If they asked him to dance, he would probably dance because he couldn't turn them down. It just probably wouldn't be what she expected.

"Well" they kept playing with their hair, a small, surprisingly shy smile on their face as they looked into his eyes "Would you like to dance with me?" her heart beat fast as she asked the question "I mean, you don't have to. I'm not trying to coerce you by buying you a drink, I just… you're cute…" she might be a demon, but she didn't want to make him uncomfortable. She truly liked very few people, and he was one of them. She would probably scare him away soon, but she wanted to enjoy the time she had for a bit at least. "So? Whaddya say?"

@MarDeColores this is not it kids

Sayel blinked, then nodded. "Of course, that would be nice." He paused, feeling as though he should probably warn her he couldn't really dance. Just so they weren't surprised, and so they could back out if they wanted to. "I, uh, just want you to know. I can't… really… dance that well." Sayel took another sip of his root beer. To be totally honest, he didn't even know what good dancing was. It had been forever since he'd done anything like this. In fact, he couldn't even remember the last time he'd done something like this. If it had even happened, it had been a long time ago.

"That's ok, I can lead" she grabbed his hand and led him toward the crowded dance floor, and waved her hand in the air. At the wave of her hand, people moved out of the way and left a considerable space for her and the handsome stranger to dance. Looking at him now, they felt the considerable height difference between them, and it was pretty intimidating… but also strangely attractive. As they positioned themself on the dance floor, she flicked a hand again, and the song switched to a salsa. She liked salsa. "Don't worry about it" they assured him, smiling "I'll go slow"

"Okay." Sayel let himself get pulled towards the dance floor. Based on the way people followed what they wanted, he guessed they'd been here a lot. Right, she had said something about coming her a lot and never seeing him. She even had control over the music. It changed to something that seemed familiar, but he couldn't place it. Well, they had said they would lead. He just had to follow and hope he didn't trip over his own feet. At least he could manage to not do that. "Perfect," Sayel said, nodding. It had just occurred to him that she'd grabbed his hand and that he really liked the sensation of someone else's hand in his.

She placed a hand on his hip, placing his on hers. "Ok, so what you wanna do to dance salsa is" they stepped forward, pushing him into the right position "You want to move your left leg back when I move my right leg forward, and then step a beat without going forward or backwards" she pulled him back, hand gripping his waist a little tighter "And after that, you step your right forward and I step my left back, then we repeat" she began to sway her hips to the beat of the song, looking up at his face smiling "And you wanna do this all with fluid steps, swaying constantly… like your drunk!" she laughed at her own joke "You got all that?"

@MarDeColores this is not it kids

Oh, his hand was on her hip. And her hand was on his. Sayel pulled his attention back to the present, trying his best to listen to their instructions. "Uh… yeah! For sure." Hmm, he could do that. Sayel followed their lead, moving a bit stiffly as first. Hey, in his defense, he was nervous. He wanted her to like him so much. But he slowly got more comfortable with the music, and with her as well. His movements got more fluid and more comfortable. And… Sayel was having fun. Dancing with her felt like the most natural thing in the world. Like he was meant to be here with her. He didn't know exactly why–after all, he was an angel and they were just a human. Still… it felt right.

Adalia closed their eyes as they swayed fluidly, she felt perfectly in place when she was there with him. They even forgot, for a few seconds, that they were a demon. They felt like a normal human person, enjoying a short life with another, very handsome, human person. Their polite smile had changed to a solemnly happy one. Then she remembered she was a demon. This was a life she would never be allowed. And yet, she didn't mind. She just wanted to live in the moment. Nothing before mattered. Nothing after mattered. Only now. As she felt their bodies moving along to the rhythm, she looked up at him. He seemed to feel the same. "This is nice. We should… see each other more often…" she whispered boldly, hoping he heard her over the music. She fell silent after this, still rhythmically dancing, heart beating fast as she awaited a response.

Sayel pushed thoughts of humans and angels from his mind. He was hardly even an angel in his mind. He'd been down here for too long, documenting everything about the humans. It had been ages since he'd even seen another angel. For the moment, they were the only thing that mattered. It was just him and them and the music. A smile slowly spread across his face. He could get used to this. And it seemed like she had the same idea. "I'd love that…" At that moment, it occurred to him that he'd never even asked what their name was. He'd also not told them what his name was. "I'm sorry, I don't think I've introduced myself. My name is Sayel. Can I get yours?"

"Ah!" she facepalmed softly "Sorry, I got… caught up in the moment" she sighed almost dreamily "I'm Adalia… would you like my number too?" she smiled, pulling her phone from her purse. She was definitely blushing. "Maybe we can… meet up later this week? You don't have to decide now but… text me"

"Adalia…" Sayel said slowly, turning the name over in his mind. It was really beautiful, very fitting of the lovely person he was dancing with. "I, uh… yes." Sayel had a phone, just because it seemed like everyone had them these days, but he didn't really know how to use it. He just used it to watch his favorite tv shows and movies when he got particularly bored. Sayel pulled it out, tapping around for a while before he finally found his text messages. "Here, it would probably be better if you put it in," he said, wanting to cover up the fact that he didn't know how to put someone's number in.

His awkwardness was so charmingly cute, Adalia couldn't help but break into a toothy grin "Alright, here" she took his phone and put her number in, inputting her name as the contact along with a heart eyes emoji. If she was anything, she was straightforward. "Oh! and just so you know, I am non-binary. Y'know, not really a girl, but definitely not a boy. She/They pronouns." they clarified. They knew from his aura that he wouldn't care, but they wanted to inform him anyways. Y'know, getting to know each other more. " I'm, *also", free on thursdays and fridays. Feel free to text me" she winked.
