He avoided putting as much weight as he could, but he was operating with one leg, so he really couldnt do much.
"You're stronger than you look," he admitted. "Am I squishing you at all?"
"Not Really," Acacia shrugged. She slowly started down the stairs one step at a time, "And thank you I guess."
Riley suddenly misstepped and leaned heavily into Acacia, yelping in surprise. His injured foot came barely inches from being planted before he caught control of his instincts and pulled it back with a, "Fuck!"
Acacia stumbled slightly as she took the weight of Riley. She managed to not follow down or doing anything stupid. She looked up at Riley, "Language!"
"I can't help it!" He said defensively "Who has carpet on a grand staircase?"
"I'm pretty sure any rich person does," Acacia snapped. She let her voice go softer, "Well, I mean every rich persons house I've been too."
"It's just asking for a slip," he said, grumbling as he managed to right himself.
Acacia waited for him to correct himself before going down the next step, "That's why I slide on the railing. Much safer in theory."
"How many times have you fallen?" he asked, stepping down with her.
"More than I want to admit," Acacia sighed as she went down another step, "Often in heels, and multiple steps. At this point I'm a master of falling gracefully."
He chuckled slightly, following her down.
"Man, I feel like a little old lady needing help to cross the street."
"This shouldn't last forever right?" Acacia asked continuing down at a slower and careful pace.
"About a year until it's fully healed," he admitted. "But the doc said I could start walking on it in 6 months."
"I mean that's good," Acacia had always been one to try, emphasize on try, to look on the bright side, "6 months can't be that long of a wait."
"Really depends on how you spend the time," Riley pointed out, his voice jolting as they stepped down again.
"Yeah, if you spend most of it locked away the time goes slowly," Acacia responded picking her words carefully, "Trust me. I beleive my dad enrolled you in the prep school near here. It's the same one I go to. No pressure to go, just an option."
"Prep School?" he seemed to balk at the idea. "Is there a dress code like the ones on TV?"
"I mean, kind of?" Acacia responded, "You can either get the uniform, which should be somewhere in your closet, or wear a jacket, nice shirt, dress, or blouse and a skirt or pants. The school is pretty lax. I call it a prep school becuase most of the kids there are children of rich people."
"No sweat pants and T-Shirts?" he grumbled, already knowing the answer.
"No sweatpants and T-Shirts," Acacia nodded solemnly in response as they reached the bottom of the stairs, "Which makes sense since they have a reputation to keep up."

"It'll be….hard to adjust." He got the crutches back under his arms. "What do you think?"
"You'll be fine," Acacia responded stepping away from him with a slight grin, "All you have to do is stick with me."
"Seems simple enough." He shrugged. "Screw it, might as well give it a shot."
"Great!" Acacia was fully smiling at this point. She walked into the kitchen, "Now what do you want to eat?"
"Cereal, maybe?" he asked, the steady click, click following her. "I'm a simple guy."
"I don't blame you," Acacia opened up the cereal cabinet, "We got a lot of options. Any kind you like?"
"Something with a lot of chocolate and sugar," he said unhelpfully, trying his best to look over her shoulder.
"We have Cocoa Puffs?" Acacia suggested reaching up to grab the box.
