Melissa checked the time. “I still have a few hours so really whatever,” she said leaning on the counter again. “I can just give Lili my phone and she’ll be busy now that she’s awake.”

Thank goodness, Melissa didn't have to leave soon. "Okay. Oh! Why don't I show you what I have for your necklace? It's not done, but you can tell me what you think about it so far!" Ciel suggested, face lighting up.

“Sure!” Melissa said. “I’d love to see it!” Her smile growing.

"Awesome!" Ciel started up the stairs to her room. Hopefully, Melissa would like the necklace. She walked to her desk and picked up the pendant.

Melissa followed behind Ciel quickly. She couldn't wait to see the necklace.

"Alright, here it is." Ciel turned around and opened her hand to reveal the pendant. It was a delicate thing, with a silver stone carved with a feather in the center. Twisting halfway around it was a frame of thin gold wires, small beads in all the colors of the rainbow woven into it.

“That looks so cool!” She said. “Can I pick it up?” She asked going to take the pendant to get a better view.

"Thanks. And yeah, just be careful of the sharp bits." Ciel pointed to the parts of the pendant where the wires were still unwoven. "You don't want to get poked."

She nodded and picked up the pendant. “Wow this is amazing,” she said her smile growing.

"Thanks." Ciel smiled, her cheeks pink with happiness. Melissa liked it! "Just wait until you see the finished product. It will look beautiful on you."

Melissa blushed slightly and smiled wide. "I can't wait!" She said biting her lip slightly and standing very close to Ciel.

"Wonderful!" Ciel smiled, her heart skipping a beat. She wanted to take another step forward, lean forward, and… do something. She settled for reaching out and– placing her hand awkwardly on Melissa's shoulder. Curses.

Melissa smiled. She wanted to do something as well but she wasn't sure what. You do know you just can't do it. She handed the pendent back to Ciel.

"Thanks." Ciel smiled, keeping her hand on Melissa's shoulder a few seconds longer than she needed to. But she finally accepted the pendant and placed it back on the desk. "So… do you watch any cool TV shows?" Ciel asked, turning back to Melissa. The question was a little out of the blue, but she needed to distract herself. Though watching a TV show or movie with Melissa would be nice…

Melissa nodded. "I recently watched the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina!" She said her smile widening.

"Really? Is it good? I think I started it, but never got to watch more than… Two episodes, unfortunately," Ciel sighed. She'd gotten distracted by another show and never gotten back to watching it.

Melissa laughed slightly. "I've done that before," She said. "It's a good show I recommend."

"I'll put it at the top of my list, then." Ciel grinned at Melissa. "Have you seen The Umbrella Academy? I lost so many hours to that show." She laughed, shaking her head slightly.

“Ooh I’ve heard of it been meaning to check it out,” she said. Her eyes meeting Ciel’s.

"Well, if you want, we can watch the first episode together," Ciel offered. "It wouldn't be on a TV screen, but my computer is pretty big." She waited for Melissa's response, hoping that she would say yes.

Melissa was about to say yes. She badly wanted to just sit with Ciel for as long as possible but she heard the doorbell ring. She went to check her phone but she remembered Lili had it. cant be him I have at least another hour.

Ceil jumped slightly at the doorbell, frowning slightly. "Is that you?" She asked, frowning lightly. "We should go check, right?" A wave of disappointment crashed over her, but she swallowed it down. Maybe it was someone looking for her parents, or a package being delivered.

“We should probably check since if he called or something Lili has my phone,” she said looking disappointed as well.

"Alright." Ciel nodded slowly and started towards the door to her room. She slowly walked down the stairs and into the living room, where her parents were starting to get up to answer the door.

When they opened the door Branden was standing their smiling. Melissa tried to put on a smile back. “Oh your here early,” she said.
“Yeah I tried calling you but you didn’t pick up,” he said acting like it didn’t matter but Melissa new she was in trouble.
“Oh Lili has my phone. Speaking of which let me go get her and our stuff and I’ll meet you in the car.”

Ciel waved her parents back to the living room and stood a little ways behind Melissa, feeling very awkward and very mad at Brenden. Curse him for arriving early. She could have watched The Umbrella Academy with Melissa! But instead, she was standing there, mentally sending daggers at Branden.

Branden nodded but stayed in the door way instead of going to the car. Melissa got her stuff and picked up Lili who was still on her phone. “Thanks for having me. It was great meeting you,” she said to Ciel’s parents. Lili waved bye to them.

"Of course! You're always welcome to come back and make us another cake!" Ari said, grinning at Melissa. Gema waved goodbye to Lili, and Ciel smiled at Melissa.
"See you at school," She said, waving at her and Lili.

“Yeah see you then,” she said smiling at her before turning to leave. She wanted to hug Ciel bye but she felt like would make things worse.

Ciel watched Melissa leave, then closed the door and walked back to her room. Since she had all her homework done, Ciel set about finishing the pendant. She would get it to Melissa tomorrow, no matter what.
