I fell silent in her arms, my mouth drying up. She certainly knew what to say and what to do. She managed to bring him back through her voice–twice. Perhaps the myths were true. Perhaps this wasn't… a small thing.
"He's trying his best," I didn't know why I was defending him. "But he doesn't know what he's doing wrong. It's hard pleasing people and looking after your family at the same time.
