Milo shuffled closer and lay his head and paws on Damien's chest, still whining softly. "Good boy, Mi Mi…" Rowan scratched behind Milo's ears gently.

Damien seemed pretty calm, which was nice. He continued to pet Rowan’s dog with a gentle hand, a little smile on his face as he did it.
Milo kept licking Damien's hands whenever he could reach them, seeming pretty happy. Something about watching Damien be so gentle with something just made Rowan more flustered.
“Damn, he’s such a sweet dog.” Damien grinned, turning to look back at Rowan. He pretended not to notice how red and flustered Rowan looked, though it must have accidentally slipped momentarily in his facial expressions.
"Y-Yeah… I'd die for him in an instant." Rowan rubbed Milo's head affectionately, a gentle smile lingering on his face.
“Who wouldn’t, right?” Damien laughed, trying to play off the gentle rosy blush that dusted his cheeks.
"Right." Rowan's heavily flushed face was a lot harder to hide, but at the moment, he was just trying to pretend that it didn't exist.
“Uh- fuck, I forgot what I was gonna say.” Damien mumbled, rubbing his face. He had looked at Rowan and his first thought was god, he really is cute.
"Mm…" Rowan lay his head back on Damien's shoulder and closed his eyes. "Lemme know if you remember."
“Y-yeah..” Damien mumbled in response, continuing to pet Milo. He had to look away from Rowan, even if the other boy couldn’t see his vibrant blushing. “I will.”
Rowan yawned a bit again and moved a bit closer to Damien. "Is it a reasonable time to go to bed now?" He asked.
Damien rubbed his face with the hem of his baggy t-shirt. “Nah. It’s only 7-ish, Ro.”
Rowan whined quietly. "Clooooooock… move faster… I don't wanna be the guy who goes to bed at seven, dammit…"
“I think you’re getting to that point in your life, old man.” Damien teased, playfully flicking Rowan on the nose.
"You're like, a year and a half older than me…" Rowan huffed indignantly. "You're almost a fuckin adult."
“Yeah? I think mentally, though… I’m still like.. twelve. Have you seen the shit I laugh at? C’mon.” Damien grinned.
"I mean, yeah, but you're gonna be a legal adult soon. That's some fuckin crazy shit, man."
“Right? Can like.. get my own place. Fuckin’.. do so much shit, man, I can vote.” Damien grinned. He couldn’t wait, honestly. “Only like.. four more months.”
"Mm… I could move in with you. I'm poor and my parents don't fucking love me, so why not?" Rowan shrugged a bit.
“Bam. Fuckin’ life plan right there. Honestly? You probably could. You’re old enough to just get the fuck outta here.” Damien bit his knuckle. “I think I’m just gonna get some cheap-ass studio apartment. One room, save some money.”
"Let's do it." Rowan held out his fist to bump against Damien's. "I can help you pay if I gather some money."
Damien fist-bumped his friend, grinning. “Hell yeah, let’s do it!” He stretched. “That’d be ideal. I got my eyes on this pretty cheap place, I’ll show you pictures at some point.”
Rowan grinned brightly. "Sounds good to me! How much do you have saved?" He asked. "I've got about five hundred, I think…"
“Almost two thousand. I’ve been saving for about two years now, but I have to split my salary a few different ways, plus taxes and all that jazz.” Damien sighed. “It should be enough for the deposit ‘n shit. Hopefully it’ll stretch to cover rent too, but.. eh.”
"Damn, how'd you get so much money?!" Rowan asked, bewildered. "I can't really work anywhere that pays well since I'm only sixteen…"
“Lots of jobs. Babysitting, Publix, other shit I can’t think of right now.. lots and lots of shit.” Damien mussed up his own hair. “Y’know that family I’m always babysittin’ for? Yeah. $20 an hour. And these parents are out, like.. at least six hours a week.”
"Damn… maybe I should babysit. I don't like kids all that much, but how hard could it be?" Rowan sighed softly. "I get paid like, minimum wage."
“Depends on the age, I guess. Babies and toddlers are my least favorite. Like, 8-ish, that’s my favorite age, ‘cause they’re almost hyper as fuck but like.. they still play Fortnite and it’s like ‘wow me too’.” Damien laughed, leaning on Rowan a little bit.
Rowan laughed and leaned into Damien as well. "I don't know shit about kids, to be honest… never had any younger siblings. Rachel moved out. Smart of her…"
Damien nodded. “Yeah. I like ‘em, but babysitting isn’t for everyone..” He trailed off, checking the time. “Ah, shit. I may have to run home for a minute, I gotta take off my binder so I don’t fuck up my ribs or lungs or whatever.”
