Simon didn’t even know if they’d be allowed to die trying. He just wanted Astral to leave them alone, to let them be at peace.

Mia did to. It's why she didn't want Astral trying to 'fix things' between them. That meant he'd be around more, and it was just going to stress them.

Simon hadn’t even really thought about that. But maybe that’s why he wanted things to be fixed automatically, so they wouldn’t have to deal with the stress anymore.

Mia closed her eyes again, rubbing Simon's back.
"We will." It was as if they said it enough, it might come true.

Simon nodded in agreement, hugging her tightly. He was glad he had her.

"Though, I'm sure if I have any appetite…"
“That’s good….and we don’t have to eat until you want to.” He reassured her.

"Okay…" Mia let out a breath, moving to wrap her arms back around Simon as things calmed down.
Simon lay them both down, rubbing Mia’s back softly. He was glad they’d both been able to calm down.

Mia closed her eyes as they laid back down, snuggled close. How many more months did they have to suffer through this in the end? Would they be able to get away before the child was born?
Simon didn’t think they’d be able to get away before then. Astral wanted the child too bad. Also, the further along Simon got, the harder it would be for him to move and stand a chance at making an escape.

Mia didn't either, not really, but she could let herself hope. If Simon got to hope Astral would get better, she could hope they could run away.
Of course Simon wouldn’t try and take that hope away from her. He would continue to hold onto his own hope, that things could get better.

Hopefully Astral really did stick to his guns and not give up completely. It would always be a temptation to him.
Simon had guessed as much. When you do something for so long, it must be hard to change. He just hoped things would be alright for awhile.

Hopefully for the rest of this life, at least. Afterwards, in the next, Simon's soul is getting sent straight to the High Priestess, and she's going to raise the perfect toy for Astral, so he can do what he wants without hurting Simon.
