Dynamic Siren/Mermaid Roleplay (closed!)

I've been craving some detailed writing and plots, so if you're a pretty experienced writer drop on in. I was thinking something along the lines of a supernatural type roleplay, we could introduce interesting worlds or time periods, I'm honestly up for anything! Once someone joins I'll post some more information.

Hey! Any chance I can join? I've got a supernatural-ish person (who is kind of like the Enchantress from Suicide Squad…) that might work!

Perfect, want to put some characters in and then come up with some sort of plot? I'll try to get working on some and feel free to use whatever detailed template you have. You can even throw in two characters ;)

Yeah, but I think we can continue this tomorrow. I gotta finish up a few things for school and head off to bed. I'll try to think of some character/plot ideas though!

What kinda supernatural plot are we talkin'?

I am literally open to any ideas, I just need to get back into some writing. Feel free to provide any ideas!

I found some prompts online:

• It's been a couple of decades since Candor High was rebuilt because of a string of murders there. Person A wakes up to their first day of school, but not before their sleep paralysis demon, Person B, says that something bad will happen on the first day, and only Person A can stop them. When Person A gets there, they notice the masked man by the bell. And the paralysis demon? Why, they almost look exactly like Person A's best friend…
• The changeling thought they were human, but now they've been returned to their own kind. It also doesn't help that they are expected to cut off all other relations with other beings, as the changeling is supposedly royalty. Little do they know that the changeling is about to wed a human in a 14 days.
• There is a difference between a mermaid and a siren.
  Sirens are born from violent, watery deaths. Drowning, being murdered at sea, their bodies being thrown into the water shortly after their death. They are the ones to that sing to sailors (or anyone) and drag them down to their deaths when they get too close. They are born anytime
  Mermaids are born when someone who has a great love for the sea (or any other body of water) dies. These deaths have to be peaceful, though people who commit suicide are sometimes brought back as mermaids. All mermaids are born on solstices or equinoxes.
  So what happens when two siblings/friends come back as a siren and a mermaid on the same day?
• An author finds a book that can turn everything they writes into it as reality. So when they write in notes about a new character idea, the character appears the next day. The thing is, this character is keeping something from the author, something that could change the world as we all knew it.

Woooooow I love all of those and have such a hard time picking. Hm. I think we could really work with that mermaid one and realllly create a huge, detailed world. Like difference species, kingdoms, etc…so I personally love that one. Thoughts?

(Also so sorry for not answering, I've been so stressed with homework and school but once we settle on a prompt I can definitely be on a lot more)

Perfect I'm so excited! I read a lil bit about some prompts and infromation about mermaids on pinterest and I may be able to pump out some interesting background information on each group before we start. Then we can work on characters!

Okay, so let's see, our world of sirens and mermaids. I read a bit about each group, just learning some basic facts, but added a couple things myself. So, here we go, a little bit of background on each group…

Sirens, as we know, are usually women or people who died a painful death, either at sea or on land. Many women were thrown overboard by men because they were believed to be bad luck, feet chained as they sank to the floor. Instead of moving on, these women were brought back as sirens, luring men and sailors to their deaths with their husky voices and singing. I would like to picture the sirens as a group that lives more in the depths of the ocean, where the light doesn't reach as far, in cold, primarily saltwater oceans. Against beautiful, high cliff mountainous islands, their homes tucked in between these dark, underwater stone ridges. Even in these watery depths, the siren's are not a completely dark species…most of their hair glows a deep, brilliant white, a beautiful beacon in the dark ocean, along with strange scales and feathered tails. They are known to be creatures between Heaven and the Underworld, "Muses of the Lower World," and their song generally calls on Persephone…a song of death.

"Their song, though irresistibly sweet, was no less sad than sweet, and lapped both body and soul in a fatal lethargy, the forerunner of death and corruption."

Though, don't be fooled by their mantic ways, many of these women and men are incredibly sighted into how the world works. Many study astrology in the immense dark waters of their homes, their eyes being incredibly sensitive to light. They use strange scrying methods, with optics found from old shipwrecks along their coasts…you could
even call them collectors of these trinkets. Some Sirens have strange abilities beyond human recollection, abilities to see auras, channeling spirits in the murky depths (since they are ohh so close to the Underworld), perception between the folds of this world. They're a group to be careful with and not falter…

But mermaids, they are souls born from immense love, a mending of the heartbreak of death. It's to be believed that one of the first mermaids had cast and transformed herself after killing her human lover. In this way, mermaids almost love to study and watch human life, even though some groups find mermaids to be terrible omens of disaster. Some mermaids are either found in the shallow coves of the ocean, hair allowed to grow long and spindly, moving in the waves, while some freshwater mermaids prefer short hair due to their close proximity to the surface. (I think we'll be focusing more on the ocean mermaids for this rp) These men and women, with their long, fishlike scaled tails (some even have two tails!) love the ocean and all that is found in it's immensity. Many even have pale, glowing skin, the light color of floating weeds in the ocean currents. They study the trinkets left by sailors and fishermen, bond with the manatees and creatures near their cove/coral homes, and are an immensely peaceful folk. It's rumored that the mermen and women have deep, cave like libraries buried in the ocean walls…a place containing all the secrets of the sea.

We have lingered in the chambers of the sea
By sea-girls wreathed with seaweed red and brown
Till human voices wake us, and we drown."

(Okay! SO that was EXTREMELY long, but hopefully you read through that:) just let my imagination run a little and pulled some little facts together. I thought we could do multiple character's and have them each be in either of these worlds? Maybe the way they all meet is because both groups see the same ship in the middle of the ocean…the first they have seen in a long time?)

(Yeah, I can do that! Are we doing a mix of Sirens and Mermaids, and maybe some people can join with a human character as to not confuse them so much?)

(Should we have a rp order? Group rps tend to die quickly when there's only 2 of the 3 people online and the 3rd person doesn't know how to insert themselves…)
