Nathan sat in the back of the bus, Blake sitting in the front with his friend. Nathan didn't pay any mind to the others talking about the homework, he took online classes and just sat in the library the whole day.

Min-Hyuk simply sat in the back beside Nathan. Though near the window on the other side like he always did. He leaned his head on the cold metal side of the bus with droopy eyes. Watching other cars and telephone lines pass. Birds flying In the V shape overhead. It was rather chilly so he was looking forward to that. Maybe he could feel something again. He doesn't really do well with showing the fact that he feels something. He was too caught up in other thing. Though…Hopefully, people wouldn't notice. They don't care anyway. So he was sure, even if they did notice, they wouldn't say anything. He ran his finger along the burn from last night. It was small, but it stung. Just how he liked it.

Crystal pulled out her phone, and texted to everyone in the Family Group Chat. 'I hope you all have a fantastic day, don't cause to much trouble. Remember you can call me at any time if you ever need anything or forgot anything at home. Also, make sure to not skip class or else you all can't do your favorite activities. I'm thinking for this weekend we go see a movie, or do laser tagging or something. Anyways, I love you all and no causing to much trouble!' She smiled as she sent the text, then drew away too her room and began to unpack, trying to ignore her urge to cry and destress. She was fine, she knew she was fine. She didn't need anyone or anything.

Min-Hyuk looked at his phon and read the text Crystal had sent the group chat.

Too*
He sent it and shoved it back in his pocket. There were also some places where she forgot to put a comma, but he wasn't going to bother.

'Oh thank you Min. I'm exhausted from the trip or else my grammar would be in tip top shape.' She sighed and put away her phone, and returned to her cleaning once more, hoping that somehow her words would affect them and their skipping classes, drinking, getting high, and causing her stress. Probably not. But what else could she do? She was trying so hard to be a good parent and a good mother, but. At times it felt impossible, but she would not give up on these kids, not for anything. So she just kept busying herself to keep herself from breaking down.

No laser tag, it's triggering for Blake and I. Nathan sent, sliding his phone back into his messenger bag. Another plus of online schooling, no extra textbooks that could weigh him down. All he needed to carry was his lunch, along with a few other rations, his laptop, notebook, and phone.

'Alright…we'll discuss it when you all get home. I just want to spend time with my wonderful kids.' She sighed and went to go lay down and take a nap.

Cleo glossed over the texts, mentally frowning at the idea of spending time with the adults. She tucked her phone back in her pocket and finished copying Silas' work. "Thanks my dude." She said breezily as she handed it back to him. First time at high school without meds…This will be interesting.

"No problem." Gardenia smiled her usual stunning smile and glanced out at the cars and pedestrians passing by them. She had forgotten how long it took them to get to school, and immediately thanked God that Silas was only there for another year before.. College. For some reason the idea of college was a strange concept for her, for all of them, and to be honest none of them thought that Silas would be the type to go to college. And would that mean they wouldn't see Sam, or anyone at the house, again? No, she couldn't think about this right now, she needed to stay happy for the day ahead.

Though she still joked around, Sam didn't really smile at school. Or anywhere really. She would crack jokes, but her humor was either dry or morbid and spoken without smiling. People laughed, but she never did. She only really chuckled. The only time she really laughed was . . . with Silas. She thought back to last night (the good part of last night) and was surprised to find out that she missed it. She missed smiling with him.

God, what was she becoming? Luckily, the bus pulled up in front of the school and broke her train of thought. She got up and started walking down the aisle. She turned around and noticed Silas still sitting there, almost as if he didn't know what to do. Almost. "Silas? Homeroom? You coming?"

group
@The-Magician group

"Yeah, yeah I'm coming!" Gardenia somehow felt a little nervous, and as she stepped off the bus with Sam and stared up at the school building, she suddenly didn't know what to do. It had been a while since she had been there, almost a month or so, so the halls she once knew so well were now strange territory for her. "Where's homeroom again?" she asked, shyly turning to Sam.

group
@Moxie group

Sam raised her eyebrows. "You good dude? Did last night really rattle you that much?" She shrugged and started walking. "Whatever. Just follow me. I got you." Silas looked very nervous. Was it because he told her that he liked her? God, feelings were difficult.

group
@The-Magician group

"No," she smiled, averting her eyes when she remembered what had happened last night. "Silas was happy to get that off his chest." When Gardenia noticed Sam had started walking she jogged a little to catch up to her. "It's been a while since I have been to school so.. I seem to have forgotten where most places are."

group
@Moxie group

"Oh." Sam stopped and turned around. "You're not Silas. Who are you? Have we met before?" Sam realized she had stopped in the middle of the hallway and kept walking. She hated it when people did that. She had injured multiple people pushing through slow people in the hallway.

group
@The-Magician group

"Oh…" Gardenia bit her bottom lip nervously as she followed. "We have met before, though you were unaware at the time. I'm Gardenia." her voice was nothing but a whisper that only Sam would hear. She didn't exactly want the entire hallway know that Silas had splits..

group
@Moxie group

Sam nodded. "Got it," she whispered back. She noticed Gardenia whispering and understood immediately. She definitely got keeping things hidden at school. During tests she extra time, but that meant that she needed to leave class to do so. She hated that. "Don't worry, I'll help you out today."

Cleo had breezed through the halls, dropping off her art project before heading back to homeroom. Coming up behind Silas and Sam, she gently poked the both of them in the arm. "Plotting to destroy the school already? Ambitious for a monday morning." Cleo grinned, her usual sunny smile that had more than a few people throw her admiring glances, but it didn't reach her eyes.

group
@The-Magician group

"Thank you." The other girl replied, clutching the strap on her rucksack tightly. She could never understand why Silas liked to only have it on one shoulder when there were two straps, but part of her decided it was due to him being the popular kid. Wait… She needed to be popular?!
She was dragged away from her thoughts when Cleo had poked her arm, and instantly her award winning smile returned. "Of course, nothing better to kick-start the day than a bit of destruction." That's something Silas would have said, right?

group
@Moxie group

"Monday morning is actually the perfect time to plan destruction. Everyone is too busy complaining that it's Monday that no one will notice." Uh oh. Gardenia looked a bit jumpy. Sam hoped she would be okay today, and she hoped she wouldn't have to put out too many fires.

Come on, you're supposed to be the mother-figure. School shouldn't scare you. Gardenia scolded herself. Her surroundings, although familiar, were causing her anxiety to rise higher.
"New plan, you complete the homework in homeroom and then I take over again." Silas was next to her, a sympathetic smile on his face. If he'd known it would be this nerve-wracking for her, he wouldn't have allowed her to switch in.
Thank you, that would be much appreciated.

Cleo laughed, unable to help herself. Sometimes the two before her actually pulled genuine emotion out of her instead of the blandly sunny deposition that she was known for. "Good to know we all have similar dreams." She shrugged and stepped into the classroom as the bell rang.

Ellie had waited for the bus to be empty before she got off. She was planning to take full advantage of the ”lost new kid” thing for as long as she could as an excuse for being a little late to classes. She kept her head down as she meandered through the crowded halls on her way to the administration office for her schedule and whatever else they would give her. Would they parade her into her first class? Make that stupid ”Let’s make the new girl feel welcome” speech? Please. That dumb thing only painted a target on her back. She sighed in annoyance before she walked up to the Secretary’s desk.

group
@Moxie group

Sam nodded. “Oh shit,” she said when she heard the bell. She grabbed Gardenia by the arm and pulled her along. “Come on, we gotta go or we’re gonna be late.” Sam didn’t care about being late, but Silas definitely did. “Come on, we’re gonna be late.” They ran towards the classroom. Luckily people in there hadn’t even taken their seats. “You sit there,” Sam whispered, pointing out Silas’s seat while she took her own. She leaned back in her chair and put her feet up on the desk. Chairs were stupid and made her bored out of her mind, but sitting in them weird made them bearable.

group
@The-Magician group

Gardenia hurried to Silas' seat and tried to act 'natural'. She put one elbow up on the desk so as to lean her head in her hand, though doing so actually made her a little sleepy. No! She needed to stay awake to get the homework done! Quickly, before anyone else could approach her or call Silas' name etc, she took the sheet and a pencil out of the bag and scrawled the answers down, making a few arrows where she had accidentally put the answers the wrong way around. With a sigh of relief she stuffed it back into the bag and rested her head back on her hand. "You know, I don't think you should sit like that.. What if the chair falls?"

group
@Moxie group

“It won’t. I do this all the time. And if I fell it wouldn’t hurt that much. And I don’t even care if I get hurt.” Sam shrugged and turned her head upside down so she could see Gardenia behind her. “I have a high pain tolerance. But thanks.” It was nice of Gardenia to care but Sam just didn’t.

group
@The-Magician group

"Well Silas cares." She replied, shrugging too. "Oh well."
Gardenia closed her eyes, allowing Silas to take back control. Once again, the only indication anyone would have was from the deep breath he then took as he opened his eyes again.
Thank you for doing the homework, I really appreciate it.
"You know me, I'm always happy to do your work for you." Gardenia's laugh echoed in Silas' mind as she left the conversation. He put his arms on the desk, resting his head on top of them. So tired…

group
@Moxie group

“Well . . . he shouldn’t.” Why should he? Sam got hurt all the time anyway. It had never mattered to anyone except a coach before Silas. She noticed Silas’s head on the desk and decided to leave the subject be. No use talking about it anyway.

group
@The-Magician group

If Sam had said anything, it didn't reach Silas' ears. No sooner had his head touched his arms, his eyes were closed and he was asleep.
He had woken up so much during the night that he couldn't help but fall asleep. There had once been the talk of putting him on medication to help him sleep, but every part of his being refused to take pills. The only way he would take pills is if he did it unknowingly…

group
@Moxie group

Home room went by quickly but to Sam it felt like an eternity. Which meant her mind had time to wander. She turned her head to look at Silas’s sleeping form, then quickly turned back around. She hadn’t really noticed his jawline or his cheekbones when they first met. Or ever really until now. Did she like him? Well she liked spending time with him. He was the only person that she knew that could make her laugh, but that wasn’t exactly saying much. Her life wasn’t exactly sunshine and rainbows. But still . . . she had met plenty of people that she liked to be around. But none of them were like Silas.

Before she knew it the bell had rung and people around her were getting up to go to class. She got up and shook Silas’s body. “Hey wake up. Class is over.”

group
@The-Magician group

No dreams appeared to Silas as he slept, which wasn't something to complain about. His dreams never had been pleasant.
As Sam shook his body, his eyes began to flutter. At first he forgot where he was, but the clattering of feet and loud chunnering of kids reminded him of where he didn't want to be. Slowly rising from the desk, Silas rubbed an eye with a yawn. "What lesson do we have?" his voice was a lot deeper than it had been on the bus, and it cracked a couple of times. I need to sort my sleep out..
