Fantasy O/O? // Closed

"Hmm, yeah." Itzal nodded. "Well, I'll leave finding one of those to you, because I'm not familiar with those." He smiled slightly and gave Cole an apologetic look. Itzal was once again annoyed at how little he knew about the mortal world. "Yeah… becoming criminals on top of everything would not be ideal. We'll have to figure out something to do about that…" He frowned, glancing around for a few seconds to make sure they weren't being followed. There weren't any beings that he could see. At least people would probably freak out if they saw the beings, which would give them a heads-up.

"I can find somewhere for us to stay. We also need to figure out how to disguise that sword," Cole added with a half-smile, his mind already whirring with possible places they could stay. Somewhere less conspicuous seemed good, but the thought that the beings might know they would go someplace not well known also crossed his mind. Without knowing anything more about these beings, he couldn't be sure what would be best. Going with what felt right seemed to be their only deciding factor on where to stay at this point. So as the pair headed further from the bus stop, Cole kept his eyes open for any signs of hotels anywhere.

"Yeah…" Itzal nodded, looking down at the sword. He was trying to keep it as close to his body as possible which, as it turned out, was a really awkward way to carry a sword. Having a sheath would be amazing, but those beings seemed to just summon the sword when necessary. Itzal could do that too, but it would sap energy– not a lot, but when battling those beings, any and all power needed to be going towards fighting them. The same went for disguising the sword: he could, but he probably shouldn't. Maybe they could find a shop with some magical amulets or charms that could do the job. He was pretty sure those kinds of places existed. "If you see any shops that might have magical charms that could disguise the sword, tell me," Itzal said softly, glancing over at Cole. He should probably be helping Cole in the search for the hotel, actually. Itzal turned his eyes forward, searching for a shop that might have what he needed.

A confused look crossed Cole's face and he glanced over at Itzal, slightly embarrassed but asking, "Like the fake magic crystals and stuff that are sold at shops?" As far as he knew, there were no magical powers in any of the items sold, but if they were what Itzal was looking for, maybe he didn't know that they were mostly fake. He would still keep his eye out for them though, even as most of his attention was on looking for a nondescript hotel they could stay in.

"Yeah. Some mortals think that those things hold power– and they're right. They're just not using them correctly, so naturally everyone assume it's all fake," Itzal explained. "But I know how to use them to our advantage. Well, the ones that are actually real." He could tell Cole was a bit skeptical about the magic, but Itzal was positive he could find at least one actually magical crystal or charm somewhere. Zoe was always dropping them everywhere, just to see if the mortals could actually figure them out. Itzal had never really liked it when she did that, but now he was very glad. "But, uh, I'll focus on looking for someplace like that. You focus on the hotel." He gave Cole a small smile, then turned his attention back to searching for a place that would have real magic.

"Ah, makes sense," Cole replied, not completely sure he understood but getting the general explanation. Finding both a place to stay and looking out for a shop that held what Itzal was looking for would be difficult, so when he offered to take over looking for the shop, he agreed quickly with a nod. "We should probably find a way to disguise the sword before we try to book a room at a hotel though..I don't think they'll let us bring it inside," He suggested as the thought popped into his head.

Itzal turned his attention from the shops to Cole. "Yeah, that's probably correct. If you find a hotel before I find a legitimate magic charm, I think I can spare a small amount of magic to disguise the sword, at least until we're out of sight of whoever's running the place," he offered, hoping that wouldn't be the case. "Otherwise, we'll be fine." Turning back to his search, Itzal was faced with even more useless shops and buildings. Seriously, where there none of those types of places around? He let out a small, annoyed breath and kept looking.

The city was definitely not people free, but much to Cole's surprise, not many of them seemed to question the pair. More than likely they guessed the sword was a toy, but still, he didn't want to risk having it out longer than it had to be, especially as he started to see hotels. "Do you think we should stay at a fancier place? Or somewhere not well known?" He asked, currently debating between one of the fancier hotels that they were nearing or a smaller one that wasn't as easy to see.

Itzal kept looking, his frustration growing at the complete lack of shops. By the time Cole asked his opinion about the hotels, Itzal was sure that there were zero magical charms in the area. "Uh… probably not a fancy one?" He said, shrugging slightly. "They'll probably be less suspicious of us and this as well, maybe." Itzal gestured at the sword. He wasn't totally sure that what he'd said was true, but it seemed correct. "But if you think we should go to a different place, well… you're the expert!"

"True," He agreed, nodding and gesturing to the sign from a hotel, one that clearly didn't get much traffic from the large 'vacancy' sign, "Well, in that case, let's go there. Looks out of the way enough, and cheap as well." Cole knew very well that he was going to be the one paying for this, as Itzal didn't have any money. "We'll be able to keep looking for your shops too once we get a room."

"Ah, good idea." Itzal's mouth turned down slightly. He'd completely forgotten about money, and… well, he sure didn't have any, so Cole was paying for everything. Itzal would have to do something about that to make it up to him, or at least get some of his own money. Too bad he wasn't Lazare. They could've made money out of anything, even if it didn't last too long. "Alright, good plan." He started towards the hotel Cole had pointed out, getting ready to disguise the sword as soon as they got into it.

Cole followed alongside Itzal, his eyes scanning for any sign of the beings as they reached the building. Even up close the place didn't look much fancier, though it didn't look like a dump either. "I'll talk to the person at the reception desk, you just focus on the sword," He said when they reached the door, opening it for the god and following him in. Even the inside just looked like a plan, generic hotel, nothing fancy or falling apart either.

"Alright," Itzal said softly, nodding. He gave a quick "thank you," when Cole opened the door, quickly running his hand down the blade to cast a simple disguise spell over it. With luck, anyone trying to look at the sword would simply skim over it, not thinking anything was out of the ordinary. The spell wasn't hard to cast, but Itzal was still glad Cole would be handling all the talking. He wouldn't know what to say, anyway. He walked up to the desk, stopping a little ways away from it so Cole could take over.

He nodded easily walking up to the desk and smiling at the girl that was sitting behind it, "Hi, we'd like to book a room if you still have some open?"

The girl looked between him and Itzal, her eyes passing over the sword like it didn't exist, then finally nodded, "I can do that. Just a room for the night or longer?"

Cole looked back at Itzal, wanting to take into consideration how long he wanted to stay even if Cole only thought one night in the same place, "How long do you want to stay?"

Itzal looked up at Cole, taking a tiny step closer to the desk. "One night," He said quickly, hoping that was what Cole was thinking. Staying in one place for more than a day, especially since they hadn't shaken the beings yet, would not be a good idea. His eyes flicked up to the girl for a second, then went back to staring at the desk. The only reason they were really getting a room was to make a plan for their escape from the lunatics with crowns. And maybe get one last night sleeping in an actual bed if things went really wrong. Itzal was hoping, though, that this whole thing would just be like a road trip across the country, with an end-goal of losing the beings and finding the other gods. And getting Cole back to his house safely.

Cole nodded, turning back to the receptionist and echoing, “One night will be good.”

The girl nodded, turning to her computer and typing in some things before asking a few more questions to Cole, who answered all of them calmly. “Your room number is 28, have a nice day,” she eventually said, passing over a keycard and smiling.

“Thank you,” Cole replied, taking the key and motioning for Itzal to follow him as he entered the hotel.

Itzal tuned out the conversation between Cole and the receptionist– instead, he was trying to think of a plan. So far, nothing came to his mind. Maybe, with more thought, he would figure out how to get Cole out of harm's way and get rid of all those beings. He started at Cole's last words to the receptionist, snapping back to reality and following him into the hotel. Itzal had never really been in one, and so far, it seemed really weird. Unflattering designs on the carpet, identical doors lining the hallway… there was a weird feeling to it, a sort of heavy silence that seemed to shatter at even the slightest noise.

"So, are we heading back out into the city after we check out the room?" Cole asked, clearly not shaken by the weirdness of the hotel or the strange silence that settled into the hallway, "Or are we going to stay here and think up a plan first?" All hotels were strange, and this was no exception. He counted the doors carefully as they went by, smiling in triumph when he spotted their door and stopped by it, the keycard still held carefully in his hand. The door opened with a click as he waved the card in front of it, opening into a small but nice room, a nice window looking out on the street of the city.

"Hmm?" Itzal started and looked over at Cole. "Uh… maybe we could go looking for a charm, then make a plan," He suggested, waiting for Cole to open the door. It was probably best to get the disguise charm for the sword so their next moves wouldn't be hindered by having to hide a sword. After that was taken care of, they could make a plan. Itzal stepped into the room, glancing around at the room. He thought it was nice, if not a little small. He walked to the window and looked out for a few seconds before turning back to Cole. "We could probably figure out some of the points of the plan while we're walking around, too."

The room was plain, besides the furniture, it only had an abstract picture on one wall and a mirror on the door of the bathroom. "Are we going to bring that with when we go back out?" He asked, motioning to the sword as he sat down on the edge of the large bed. Cole knew disguising it would take a lot of Itzal's precious energy, and he wasn't sure if he could both take down another being and hide the sword. "Maybe we can get something to eat as well, seeing as our breakfast this morning was nonexistent," He added, a faint smile on his face, "Even something small is better than nothing."

Itzal followed Cole's eyes to the sword. It would be difficult to bring it along with them without it being disguised, but if they came across another being, having the sword would be a good idea. Then again, Itzal could just try and do the same thing he had done to get the sword in the first place. "I think we should leave it here. If worst comes to worst, we could just steal another sword and leave it there," He decided, eyes lifting to meet Cole's. "Yeah, that would be a good idea." Itzal nodded, returning Cole's smile. He was getting a little hungry, which was a weird sensation. Even when he'd been in human form before, it hadn't been long enough to get seriously hungry.

Cole nodded, standing up once again and looking around, "Makes sense, but where should we put the sword? I don't know if just leaving it out in plain sight is a good idea but we might have to do that." He wanted to bring the sword with just in case, but since they had no way to hide it, keeping it here was the better option. Now they just had to put it somewhere fast and then find somewhere to eat, before his stomach started to growl in protest.

"Maybe in the closet?" Itzal suggested, walking over to it. Upon opening it, he discovered that it was following the theme of the rest of the room: small. "We could drape something over it to hide it." He carefully propped the sword up in the corner of the closet, then grabbed what he guessed was an extra blanket and covered the sword with it. "What do you think? Is it hidden well enough?" Itzal looked over at Cole, one hand gesturing at the sword. If one didn't know that there was sword under the blanket, it didn't really look like one.

"I think that'll work for now. As long as no one grabs the blanket," He said, looking over the hidden sword and nodding. It definitely wasn't somewhere to keep the sword permanently, but it could easily work while they were out getting food and looking for charms. A hint of a smile settled onto Cole's face and he turned to Itzal, "Ready to go find food and the magic charm thing?"

"Yeah." Itzal smiled and closed the closet door. His stomach was starting to complain a bit, and he was looking forward to breakfast. With luck, they would both be able to get the charm and breakfast without getting attacked by mysterious beings. He was a little apprehensive about leaving the sword behind, mostly because he was worried he wouldn't be able to steal a sword again if he needed it. But the chances of them getting weird looks for having a sword were way higher than them coming face to face with a being.

Cole's smile grew and he waited until the closet door had closed before walking back to the main door of the room, patting his pockets to make sure he had both his wallet and keycard for the room. Once he was sure they wouldn't be locked out fo the room though, he walked out into the hallway, holding the door for Itzal and already trying to decide where the best spot nearby would be to eat.

Itzal cast one last glance at the closed closet door, then followed Cole into the hallway. He gave him a small nod to thank him for holding the door open, then glanced up and down the hallway. Yep, it was still kind of creepy. But it was extra-creepy-being free, so what more could he ask for? Itzal started walking down the hallway towards the exit, idly wondering what they would get to eat. The question at the front of his mind, however, was definitely whether or not they would be able to find a charm.

"Do you have any preference on the type of food we get?" Cole asked, thankful that their room wasn't terribly far from the exit. It took them only a little longer to reach the door and walk out back onto the sidewalk in the city, the once cool morning breeze fully gone in replace for bright sunlight. He really didn't have a preference on where to eat, and it seemed logical to see if Itzal had any places he really wanted to go, seeing as he wasn't from Earth.

"Uh… not really." Itzal shook his head. He breathed in the outside air, squinting slightly in the bright light. "Why don't we go to somewhere that has your favorite food or something?" He suggested, looking over at Cole. Itzal didn't have anything he wanted to eat right then– he would eat almost anything, as long as it filled him up sufficiently. And… well, he kind of wanted to get to know Cole a little better. After all, they would probably be spending a lot of time together, and Itzal would rather spend that time with an acquaintance, at least, instead of a virtual stranger. And it was interesting to get to know other people.

"Most of my favorite food would require us to actually go into a semi-nice restaurant to get it, maybe we could go with something simpler instead?" He suggested in return, a light smile on his face, "Then at least maybe we can eat quickly and hurry to find your charm before we run into another being?" Cole didn't mind either way, a plate of pasta sounded delicious and he frankly would've happily went with the first option, especially when it wasn't often he got to come to the city and eat out. He blinked at the sun, letting his eyes adjust for a minute before he glanced around at where they were, deciding to start walking left and hope for the best.
