"I…I don't know." He admitted. "I don't…really…have a home to go back to anymore. The town isn't safe either, I don't think." He imagined the little town, his father's bakery and the square where he and his friends played as children…what would happen to it?

"Me neither… It probably won't be safe for a while yeah…" Felix remembered the sound of his parents hitting the floor, tears quickly welled in his eyes. He gulped back the sob that was bound to come eventually.

Cel remembered his little sister Zytka. Zytka had only been seven years old when she was yanked off the street in the middle of playing by a Nazi. This had only been yesterday. They had thrown her in a truck with a bunch of other children and drove off. A tear trickled down his cheek at the memory and, though he tried to hold it back, let out a quiet sob.

Felix turned his head slightly to look at Cel. Even though it had been small, it broke him. His tears started streaming down his face. He ended up curling closer to Cel. His older brother had left to fight in the war almost two months earlier. Who knew how he was or even if he was still alive.

After a while, the tears stopped flowing. Cel sniffed and wiped his eyes on his shirt. He could hear something outside. "There's someone here," he whispered, and let out a small scream when they started pounding on the door.

Felix covered Cel's mouth, biting his own lip so that he wouldn't do the same. He attempted to stay still, he did start shaking though. There was just one bad thing after another.

"Open door, Jewish rats!" It was a man's voice, he seemed about forty and very angry, and he didn't speak very good Polish. "Or I will burn!" Cel knew that he definitely meant that he will burn down the shed, with them inside. Cel pried Felix's hand off of his mouth and fumbled around in the hay for a potential way out. Nothing. He glanced at Felix. "What do we do?" He mouthed.

Felix hurriedly scanned the shed for something, anything. He didn't see anything and looked back at Cel. He shrugged a worried look on his face. He let got of Cel and stood up. He did find a crowbar, he held it up, another shrug.

"Great!" He mouthed, grabbing the crowbar and prying a board of wood from the wall. He pried another off, making a big enough hole to crawl through, and turned to Felix, putting a finger over his lips, and crawled through the hole.

Felix nodded and quickly crawled out through the hole. He waited for Cel to do the same, before grabbing his hand again and sprinting away. Things would definitely never go back to normal, and this was just the beginning of it all.

The sound of angry shouting only made him run faster. He clutched Felix's hand for dear life as they sped off through a field full of hay bales and grazing cows. How he wished he was a cow right now. Not a care in the world. All there is to think about is eating grass. And mooing. He pulled Felix behind a large pile of hay and let out a sigh.

Felix stayed close to Cel, not wanting to leave his side, which he definitely won't be doing anytime soon. They were in this together. Felix let out a shaky breath as the smell of smoke filled his nose. The farmer must have started burning the shed.

"That… was close," Cel murmured quietly. "That was great that… You found that crowbar. You saved us both." A smile curled at his lips as he spoke between pants.

Felix nodded. "It was… we're going to stick together, right? We would both be pretty dead if we hadn't met each other…"
