My eyes widened at Rhys. I didn’t want him to leave me alone like this, but I couldn’t hoard him to myself, so I pretended it didn’t bother me.
But the second he walked away, the air felt constricted. I felt suffocated. Panic, I recognized the feeling. My throat clogged up and then I felt it—the icy blood roaring through my vains, scratches in my head, pounding on my body. Pain, unrealistic pain tore through me and I bit back a scream, doubling over as I felt the change. Fur growing, growls and snarls escaping my lips, teeth growing and sharpening, claws appearing, arms and hands turning to paws.
I felt as much of a monster as I was.
