So there’s a particular line (it’s the title) in the song If I Die Young that always gets me.
To me, this line is that you can be feeling all these things, but no one really listens to what you were saying until you take action (suicide).
So…depressed pair of teens that confide in each other and may or may not have powers.

James leaned against the wall, and held the ice pack in one hand. His best friend got in trouble at school for the third time this week. He waited outside of the office, a little disappointed. A girl walked out of the office, a black eye covering her face. "Are you alright?" He asked her, knowing she was a bit fragile. Not fragile like a flower, fragile like a bomb. She shook her head and leaned against the wall with him. James handed her the ice pack, and she held it against her eye.

Personality: Tries to be sarcastic and witty to cover up his sorrow. Distrusting, but a loyal friend/lover if you get through his wall.
Likes: Sketching, drawing, graphic design. Working out is a good way to take his mind off life. Also enjoys hanging out with his close friends and reading romance (although he'd never admit it to anyone) and music.

Name: Nataleigh “Nat” Gray

Appearance: Nat has pale skin with a few freckles. Her hair is waist length, similar to a crimson colour and typically in a fishtail or simple braid. Her right eye is a stunning green, and her left eye is a dull pale grey. Her defining feature is a scar that looks similar to a lighting scar (for inspo look at realistic harry potter scar). The scar starts just to the right of the centre of her forehead. It spreads down most of the left side of her face and ends in trickles on her neck. It just so happens to cover her left eye, which is simply grey and not blind. Her left leg also ends in a stump just below her knee.
Style: Anything Nat wears has to accommodate her leg, so she usually just wears dresses and flats. She does have a prosthetic leg which is normally nearby, but she prefers to use a crutch.
Personality: Nat is closed off and defensive. She doesn’t trust easily, but when she does it would not be wise to betray that trust. She has slight anger issues, and her outbursts of anger are intensified by her powers. She only wishes for someone to love and let into her heart, but she’s scared to do that.

Background: Nat’s father was abusive. He was better when she was young, but still abused her mother. When Nat reached 7, he started to turn on her. At first it was a simple hit here and there, but as she grew older it grew to full blown attacks. Her mother died when she was 10, and her older brother Nathan did nothing to help her. She came to hate both her father and her brother, but didn’t have the strength to run. From age 12, she started to endure rape from her father that her brother was forced to watch, but Nat thinks Nathan willingly watched. When she was 16, Nat’s father finally lost it. He attacked her and used his electrokinesis to give her the scar she has. He then forced Nathan to use his plasma blades to slice Nat’s leg off. After that, he threw her in a room in the basement and locked her in there. She spent the night using her powers to heal her leg to a stump, hands shaking. The next morning, she used her powers to kill her father and her brother, and passed it off as an act of self-defence. She was sent to foster care but ran away. She vowed to trust only a few people.
Powers: Chaos magic. This includes -

She is skilled at controlling it but can lose control when she is mentally unstable. This doesn’t happen often, but it’s usually like a switch flicking in her brain.

"I know what happened to you, and you know the basics of what happened to me," Nat said to Jake, keeping most of her past to herself. She wasn't comfortable telling anyone, let alone her romantic partner.
Jake looked at Nat, knowing she felt pain much worse than he ever had. "I do, but Nat, do you think there's others like us?" Jake asked, wondering. He held two warm cups of tea in his hand, and he offered one to Nat.
"Well, of course there's other people like us, Jake," She replied quickly, a slightly frustrated tone to her voice. "But I don't know what happened to them. So the natural thing is to assume that I have it worse than them. Especially since my scar and having no leg was caused by my dad."

"I'm sorry about your past, Nat, truly. Only from what you've told me, I know you've gone through hell and made it back alive." Jake says. "But we both can't live like this, hiding ourselves from the world. It's killing me."
"I never said that you had to stay here," She said softly. "I stay here because no one really knows I'm here. Because I don't trust anyone. If you let people in, they can hurt you. So I'm alone. But if you're alone, no one can hurt you."
"But if you let people in, they can heal you, too." Jake replied, an edge of sadness wavering in his voice. "And I think when you find someone who can heal you, it doesn't matter how many times you've been broken." He said, trying not only to convince Nat, but himself as well. "I want to heal you, Nat. You just gotta let me."
"Who says that I'm not letting you?" She questioned. "I said that I don't trust people. I have no friends. I have no family. I don't let people in. You wouldn't be here if I didn't trust you. If I didn't let you in."
