“Of course I’m not. It’s wasn’t my money, it belongs to the cafe now.” He replied, putting the bill back in his pocket. “I have my own money to pay for you, don’t worry darling.” Rowan winked, beginning to walk away to get his food.
Gay Romeo and Juliet?
Harrow laughed and shook his head "sure dear," he muttered under his breath, taking another sip of his chocolate
Rowan stopped and turned towards him. “If I had all the money in the world, I’d spend it all in you.” He smiled softly before walking back to the counter.
Harrow smiled back and allowed himself to blush "no money in the world could buy what happiness and joy you give me," he muttered before returning to his book
Rowan almost tripped over thin air at Harrows response but put his hand on the wall to steady himself. Why does he do this to me.. He thought with a sigh and a smile, getting the donut and cinnamon roll.
Harrow peeked over his book and watched as Rowan almost tripped over nothing. He giggled softly and went back to reading
Rowan set the pastries on a plate and made a quick iced coffee for another customer. He brought the plate over to Harrow and set it down with a flourish.
He smiled and laughed "dramatics aside, thank you." He said gratefully,
"Me? Dramatic? I don't know what you're talking about." Rowan said with a small gasp, biting back a laugh.
Harrow rolled his eyes playfully "dramatic and a bad liar, who in hell did I fall for?" He asked with as much theatrics as rowan
fell for me?? he actually likes me ohmygod sjskkdksksask
Rowan thought frantically, grinning at Harrow. “I don’t know, but he sounds pretty irresistible.”
Harrow grinned and rested his head on his hands "oh he is, not bad looking either."
“Mm..I’d make him yours before anyone else does. He sounds pretty special.” Rowan replied softly before walking back to the counter.
"I will, don't worry." He muttered, eating his cinnamon roll
Rowan smiled to himself, unable to feel anything else but overjoyed during the rest of his shift. He checked the time and went to talk to his boss about leaving a bit early. It was almost 5:30 and his parents would want help.
Harrow had left a bit earlier than what he had wanted to due a call from his mother who had wanted to go over his wardrobe choice for the event that night
Rowan got permission to leave and went home quickly. He changed into his suit and pushed his hair back, then watched it immediately fall forward again. He shrugged and did some other quick preparations before driving to the venue.
"mom, the suit looks fine," harrow groaned for what seemed to be the millionth time "please just stop fighting with it." He pleaded,
"Sorry I just want you to look your best." She said, taking a step back and looking at her son
Rowan pulled up to the venue and went inside with a couple things that Colleen asked him to bring for her. The event was being held in one of the luxury hotels in the city. He made his way inside and greeted the rest of his family, gazing around, slightly in awe of how big the place was.
He looked back and smiled at her "I know, he said softly. She glanced up at him and hugged him "come now, we mustn't be late." She said, tugging him to the car.
A few people started to arrive, masked and rich. One glance in their direction and you could tell that they wouldn’t settle for anything less than luxury. Rowan stood nervously by his sisters side, watching people file in. His mask was silver with touches of light and dark blue around the edges. It hid his hair quite well.
They arrived just in time, glancing around the house in facination. "Think we're under dressed?" Harrow's mother asked, clinging to her son's arm "no, they're just over dressed," he reasured. She smiled "so handsome with that mask on," she teased. "Thanks Mom." He kissed her temple and pulled away "I'll find you later," he said, walking off towards the ballroom area
Rowan stood still near the edge of the ballroom, gazing around at the different people. Why are you looking for him? He’s wearing a mask dumbass.
Harrow walked around a bit, politly chatting with a few people, occasionally glancing around for rowan. He frowned internally as they announced that dancing would begin soon "who formally dances anymore?"
Rowan walked around a bit and introduced himself quietly to some of his fathers friends, wishing they weren’t wearing masks. It was sheer torture being in the same room as Harrow and not knowing where he was.
where are you, harrow thought anxiously glancing around before nodding politly to a woman who offered to dance with him "can't find a partner either?"
"Rowan!" His mother appeared at his side, announcing his name loudly. And there goes keeping my identity a secret. He thought, slightly grateful. He better come find me after this..
"I haven't seen a smile from you all evening." She continued, taking a sip of champagne.
"I guess I'm just not with the right people Mom." Rowan replied.
Harrow glanced up oh that's subtle, have your mom yell your name in a crowd, harrow laughed to himself "almost." He said to the woman who smiled and waved him off "stand by the balcony, make him come to you." Harrow blinked and bowed "thank you." He said, heading to the balcony
"Oh, nonsense! I'll find someone for you, just give me a moment." She declared, briskly walking away to find god knows who. Rowan laughed nervously and backed away towards the balcony. I need to get away from this. He thought, accidentally bumping into someone and turning. "Oh, god sorry, I.." He apologized, pausing with his mouth open when he realized who he was talking to.
(let's get dramatic…. >:))
Harrow hopped up onto the edge of the stone bacony and pulled one leg up to his chest. He pulled out his phone and texted Rowan "come find me." He glanced back at the ballroom floor, watching as someone bumped Into a masked man, apologiesing ecsesivly and lightly touching his arm
