Zack growled softly over the edge of his cup. This lady doesn't think at all when she talks, huh?
"It's not really anything specific. It's just random stuff, I guess."

@Night Feather

Melody leans against the counter and rests her chin onto her hands, batting her eyes innocently. "I'm sure I don't know what you mean."

Zack glanced up, letting a slight glower take over his handsome mismatched eyes. "You know, I just play random shit. It's not really anything special." He shrugged, forcing more of the drink down for something to do.

@Night Feather

"You are aware that that's not alcohol, right?" Melody pokes playfully, before a sudden ring causes her to turn towards the door. A man in his early twenties walks into the cafe, hands in jeans' pockets, eyes glistening green but swimming with distrust. He first looks Zack up and down, with a hint of disgust in his frown, then turns to Melody. It is noticeable that Melody's face has paled a bit, but her smile does little to waver.
"Ah, Donovan! Meet Zack, he has a taste for secretive music and likes to pretend that his cold coffee is really alcohol-"
"Slut." Donovan's voice is cold and expresses annoyance. "Get moving. How many boys do you plan on flirting on in one lifetime?"
"I wasn't flirting-"
"Sure you weren't." He growls, then turning his expressionless face to Zack.
"Finish up and get out. It's after hours; you weren't supposed to be here anyway."

Zack sipped at his mug, returning the expression hotly. He set down his mug, shifting in the seat he was sitting in.
"Maybe I will. Maybe not." He knew he shouldn't go around picking fights, but really, it was uncalled for what the man had said to Melody. She had been just having fun. Zack wouldn't mind to see his guts splattered up the walls…
He shook himself out of it when his gaze swam and his eyes darkened at the bloody, somewhat satisfying scene in his head.

@Night Feather

Donovan smirks, leaning forward only slightly.
"You're the rough type, hm? Well, that would only make sense. Melody seems to fall for your type so easily." His eyes glint sharply. "But I would be careful with who I mess with if I were you. My father has a hand in every major corporation in the North and has many, many powerful friends. Unless you would like me to make your life extremely miserable, I suggest you scram."

"I'm not the rough type. I'm the type who has self-respect," The other, smaller man growled. He glared up at Donovan, his hands twitching slightly on the counter as his long, somewhat clawed hands pulled off of the cup.
"And you can't scare me with lies." He had been watching the Human carefully. Despite being betrayed by the person who had taught him about Humans, Dent had been right. Once you look out for lies in a Human, you can see the movement in their eyes, hear the gears whirring in their head, and smell it off of them.
"I bet your friends are really druggies sitting around at a bar, throwing away their money for shots, asshole."

@Night Feather

Donovan smirked, although his lips were now twitching. He was not used to having someone confront him and not run away screaming.
"There are no 'friends' in my line of business, Zack. However, you are partially correct. I know many other big men with sons my age who are wasting their inheritance away on alcohol and bail. But you cannot truly blame them, of course. My line of work is not for everyone." Melody begins to start, fearing a real brawl in her cafe.
"Sweetheart, please don't. I really wasn't flirting, I promise. Can you please stop?"
"Don't open your filthy mouth before me, concubine. You will not come home until you've cleaned your sins away. Sleep here, or in some man's bed." Donovan turns away, shaking his head in disgust. "I cannot believe that your father is my client. Rest assured that if he weren't, I would never be in a relationship with the likes of your kind." Melody's eyes glistened with tears threatening to spill, her lip trembling slightly, but she still manages to force a giggle and wave to her boyfriend.
"Alright, dear, I'll see you in a bit!" But by the time she had finished, he had already left the cafe. Melody let out an apologetic laugh, quickly wiping her eyes with her apron and turning back to you. Her face, in those short moments, seem to age enough to make her look much older. But her eyes were still young, whether it were pain to keep them raw or her undying efforts to remain happy.
"Sorry about him, he can be pretty openly critical. But he isn't all that bad. Believe me, I've seen him with his clients. His smile can be the prettiest thing when he's with them."

"Concubine?" Zack repeated, wrinkling his pointy nose. He rose slowly to his feet, his hands tightening into fists. He could still feel the pulsing, weak soul of the Human walking away from the cafe, highly aware of what he wanted to do.
"No, he is bad. I'm honestly horrified for you that you have to deal with a wretched puke-up like him," His response was angry and outburst-like. He snatched up hid messanger bag, straightening up in his posture.
"And I think I'll give him a piece of my mind." He could still smell the Human. This Human smelled of others; he smelled of alcohol and drugs, a smell that Zack had grown to hate.

@Night Feather

"Please don't." Melody's voice was urgent, and she was on the verge of taking hold of Zack's arm before remembering her fiance's accusations. "My father needs Donovan. He's worked so hard to build a large company, and making a business contract with Donovan's father's firm could be limit- breaking for him. I was the one who gave consent for Donovan to marry me. I did it for my dad. He doesn't know about who Donovan is really like, and he doesn't need to. I'm happy, alright? A little hardship never hurt anyone." Melody smiled, all trace of sadness buried far within the back of her mind.

It was a trick she had learned through the years, but even so, she yearned for a good dose of her headphones right about now. "Please don't interfere. I'm totally aware of what's going on, but I've dealt with it from even before we got engaged. I'm chill, my dude." Melody stared into Zack's eyes, a gaze of pleading being the only thing she had left to offer to Zack.

Zack let his gaze flit away from hers. Another waft of a lie touched his nostrils and he shook his head. It was so obvious, now that he knew what to smell for.
Anyway, he wouldn't let someone who worked for this cafe get bullied like this. He didn't care how important that Human was, he could've been the president of the United States, and Zack wouldn't hesitate to hurt him. He had unneedly pushed around his fiancée, and butted in on a nice conversation. He wouldn't kill the Human, but he'd do enough for people to see the Human's…. true colors. Which was red. A lot of red. A conspicuous smile worked onto Zack's face as he walked towards the door of the cafe.
"Whatever. You have a good night."

@Night Feather

Melody's hand trembled as Zack neared the cafe door. "Zack, please. I know that you have good intentions, but this will only make things worse. By… hurting him, it means you're throwing all of those years I spent in pain away. The time for vengeance will come. But that time is not now. Believe me when I say it, Zack, the date for when I take back my integrity is a day I will savor." It may have been an allusion, perhaps, but it seemed so surreal. That Melody's emerald eyes flashed scarlet, the color of freshly shed blood. "How about this, Zack. Make him feel sadness. Ruin him mentally. Make him sob with not a trace of hope left in his world. Make him yearn for the one person who was actually willing to care for him as a person and wasn't just nice to him for his money. Make him cry." Melody smiled, but this was a more menacing image than before.

One that seemed to savor something more than homicide, but the flicker of pain in her victim's eyes.

"In fact," Melody reached from behind the counter and grabbed her purse and spare ear pods. "I'll come with you." And in a moment of shyness, she quickly added, "but only if you don't mind!"

But then, why did it seem like her mind was already made?

Zack didn't turn to look at her until she had proposed a deal to him. He turned, caught the scarlet in her eyes and smirked.
Ah? Is she one, too?
"I think that sounds good. I think you, than anyone else deserves to see him crumple. You'll make him weak and paper-like, then crush him yourself, like the damn weakling he is." The sharp, hissy words felt good as they left his mouth. He hadn't spoken so freely to someone, hardly to someone he didn't know. He started at a brisk pace again, his eyes still on the Human's soul. They had gained ground on the pair, but they could catch up fast. Especially if Melody could fly… that'd be very helpful…

(Btw this is significantly shorter than what I had typed out but I really didn't feel like typing it again, lol, sorry for the disappointment.)

@Night Feather

Melody seemed to cherish the insults towards her beloved too, as she hurried on to match Zack's brisk pace.
"I think I know where he is. There's a really big club on the other side of town, and I've caught him playing with other girls there a few times. I couldn't say anything, of course, but that's probably where he is right now." And, as if reading Zack's mind, she comments, "This would be much easier if we could fly. Sucks to be human, huh? Being the same species as that douche…"

@Night Feather

(And I'm sorry about your deletion. F for respect)

(F in the chat)

Zack glanced back behind his shoulder, raising his eyebrows. "Mmm. I thought I smelled others on him." Suddenly, he paused abruptly, almost sending the pair to the ground.
"I can fly." He didn't even care that she was Human. If she were willing to be faster than the other Human, so be it.

@Night Feather

Melody broke into a grin. "So can I." And in her moment, a pair of pearl colored wings tore from her back and outstretched in the glistening moonlight. "Glad one of us broke the awkwardness."

Zack grinned at her, a slight, genuine one. "Nice. Gotta respect that." He started at a run, his wings, big black angelic ones, blooming from his back and lashing to bring him up into the air. It was a little sloppy, but he recovered by bouncing off of the roof of the cafe. Soon he was up in the air, waiting for his companion.

@Night Feather

She soared behind him, slowly gaining momentum and gaining a place by his side.

"Sorry, I haven't flown in a while. Mostly because Donovan's family has been busy harassing me for money I don't have." Melody rolled her eyes. "You'd think they'd be rolling in enough dough without taking my $4.50 an hour, honestly."

Zack beat his wings loudly to keep him and his heavy bag in the air. He nodded turning for the direction of the Human.
"I get that feeling sometimes." He laughed bitterly, crossing his arms. "Alright, so the Human's going down that way. Should we corner him?"

@Night Feather

"Yes, it would be better if we caught him in a deserted alleyway. Let's have a bit of fun first, though, like make him believe that he's really seeing two human birds harassing him." Melody blushes in embarrassment slightly.
"Sorry if I have a weird sense of humor."

Zack chuckled softly, finding the joke funny enough for a chuckle. "It's definitely interesting, Melody." He scooped out of the sky, traveling low over the roofs of buildings. Soon the moonlight was bringing his shadow directly over the Human.

@Night Feather

Donovan stops momentarily, but doesn't think to look up. His car is mere feet away, but by using Melody's wings to reflect the moon's light into the bar's street corner, a glisten in the dark attracts Donovan's attention. But only for a second, before a woman calls to Donovan and winks to him flirtatiously. He turns away and continues to the girl.

Zack glanced around for something to throw at the woman, really, the only logical thing to do. Then he remembered the heavy bag around his shoulders. He rummaged around in it and pulled out his Enviroment 101 textbook, holding it up and aiming delicately, then flinging it down with the most of his strength. He misshot barely, but it still hit the woman in the shoulder and made her collapse.
Good enough, he thought to himself as he hastily flew over to Melody's side.

@Night Feather

The woman lets out a yelp, holding what was now a bleeding shoulder and staring at the textbook, wondering how in hell high school had come back to haunt her. Donovan runs to her, hastily pressing his lips against hers, ignoring her muffled cry of panic and attempt to push him away. He ignores her, merely murmuring a reminder to her of the debt she was in to him. Melody spots a tear that trickles from the woman's eye, who now looks like she had only just hit the age to be allowed inside a bar. Melody's eyes are engulfed in a flash of crimson as she turns to Zack, waiting for his idea of a plan.

Zack glanced at her before he could witness any more, sighing. His idea was to keep throwing things, but he didn't think that was a good idea. Zack picked up a pebble off of the roof anyway, throwing it down as hard as he could. It bounced off of Donovan's head.

@Night Feather

Donovan yelps, pulling away from the girl and finally looking up. He freezes, his eyes widen, he begins to tremble on the spot. Slowly backing away, he turns and breaks into a run. The girl runs in the opposite direction, and Melody turns to chase Donovan.

Zack grinned at his reaction and hared after him, tightening his wings against his body as he scooped lower below Melody, not wanting to get in her way. The image of the human's eyes widening gave him a deep sense of satisfaction. He wasn't really sure why…
