How about another Slice of Life O/O?

Baylee chuckled. "That's how everyone learns." He cut himself off from a usual sarcastic sweetheart, feeling it wasn't appropriate.

She cracked a small smile, “I guess that’s true. But, you live and you learn.”

"You know what I learned today?" he asked, grinning sarcastically.

(I'm going to make an attempt to stay up late so we can roleplay)

Maddie raised an eyebrow, "And what was that?"

(Didn't end up happening, my bad)

"Bullets," he said knowledgeably, "Fucking hurt."

(Bumpity?)

Maddie chuckled, shaking her head slightly, "If you'd said otherwise you'd be insane."

"Maybe I still am. Maybe this is my one moment of sanity left." The doctor walked in a few minutes later, clipboard in hand as he asked Maddie to leave.
"You can come back tomorrow if Baylee wishes," he assured.

Maddie smiled politely and nodded, standing from her seat with a sigh, "Well, thanks again for saving me back there, I really appreciate it… should I come back tomorrow?"

Baylee nodded. "Yeah, that would be great. I could use a little company."

Maddie's smile grew a fraction, "Great. I'll see you then, Baylee." She waved a little and then left.

He sighed as he watched her walk away. Why did he care so much? He got shot for some random stranger, and felt good about it. Was he going insane?

The next day, Maddie honestly couldn't care less how she looked, mainly because of the lack of caffeine in her system as she heard to Baylee's room to check up on him. her sweater was slightly too big, hair falling haphazardly over her face as she knocked on the door and slowly entered.

He looked like he had just woken up too, his his hair sticking up wildly and a sleepy grin on his face.
"They got me in a hospital gown, now," he said with a chuckle. "Had to force me into it."

She smiled sympathetically at him, pulling up a chair and sitting next to him, "I bet they did. How are you feeling?"

"Like a guy that got shot last night." He smiled slightly. "So fucking wonderful."

She rolled her eyes but smiled slightly, "Can you feel any pain right now? Or are the pain meds helping?"

"Sweetheart, they got me more doped up than the Beach Boys," he said with a grin.

She waved a hand idly, "I was just checking, okay? You can't blame me for being worried when you were shot for me."

"Who says chilvery is dead, huh?" he asked, throwing his arms out dramatically.

Maddie rolled her eyes, "Yeah yeah, whatever," she huffed, "Do you know when you'll be able to leave?"

"A few weeks. Bullet wounds take time to heal, sadly." He blinked a few times then asked, "Why?"

She shrugged, "Just curious."

"And where is this curiosity stemming from?" he pressed on

She blushed a little, "So I can hang out with you outside of a hospital and so I know when… is that… is that a problem?"

Baylee leaned back in the bed,, a grin on his face. "No, not at all."

She blushed even harder, “Good.”
