Walter and Alex* had been talking to each other over the internet for what seemed like forever. They had gotten to know each other well, they exchanged texts and pictures. Walter knew who Alex was, and Alex thought he knew who Walter was. In reality, he did not.

Walter had introduced himself as Ainsley, which is his middle name, not his first. They struck up a conversation and agreed to send pictures. Walter had felt like wearing a dress that day, so the picture he took and sent of himself was in a dress.

Alex replied with a picture of himself and said: "Damn. You're like, really pretty. I'm actually surprised a girl as pretty as you are talking to someone like me."

Walter, in a state of panic, had no clue what to do except to accept the compliment and not correct Alex. So Alex went on for a while believing that Walter was a girl and Walter just didn't correct it and avoided calls at all costs.

One day, Alex suggested that they meet up IRL and Walter, without thinking, complied. Soon after, he was faced with the panic of realizing he'd have to reveal the truth to Alex…

Personality: Walter is a very fun-loving person. He does his best to be always smiling and make other people smile too. He keeps a relatively positive attitude towards life and sees life as a gift instead of a curse. He will go to great lengths to make sure that people he cares about are happy. Despite his happy nature, he's not a very outgoing person. In fact, he's quite quiet in person in contrast to how he is on the internet. He gets flustered easily when given compliments.
Physical Appearance: Walter's skin is very pallid with yellow undertones to it. His skin is almost unblemished except for a few bruises on his inner thigh from a bike trick gone wrong, but he's not afraid to show em'. His hair is black and silky and it reaches down to his mid-back. His eyes are ghost blue, sometimes being described as haunting. They are large and ovular, and they also have a very soft look to them. His lips are thin and pallid and have a slight pink hue to them, a pastel pink. He has very thin and delicate features, with virtually no muscling. He's short, standing at about 5'4".
Clothing style: Generally relaxed. He wears whatever he feels is best for the occasion and won't let anyone change his mind. He'll wear pretty much anything. What he wears ranges from a hoodie and sweatpants to dresses and sunhats. He just really doesn't care. As long as he's not walking around naked he's almost always fine with it.
Likes: Taking photos of himself, baking, playing volleyball as well as other sports, cats, singing, dancing, art, writing, Vines.
Dislikes: Dogs, excessively bright lights, shrimp, extremely hot days.
Hobbies: Painting, taking selfies, playing volleyball, writing poetry and stories.

(Okay, a little detail on the starter. I'm starting the RP at a point where they're just meeting on… uh… well… idk. Maybe some site that matched them up based on interests.)

Walter spent the day like he usually would. Taking photos of himself, painting, and taking photos of himself while painting. Well, he did other stuff too, but those were really just the basics. Sometimes he baked, sometimes he wasted the day away watching Vines on his phone. But one thing that hardly changed was the fact that he was having fun.

He messed around on some random sites and apps just for kicks. He applied to be matched with people he was "compatible" with just for the fun of it. In fact, he hardly took it seriously.

He had thought it would be the same still when he got a notification at the top of his screen reading: You've been matched! But something was different this time around. He clicked on the notification from the app and read the profile carefully. The person's name was Harry Novak. He had found it quite amusing that this was one of the first profiles that wasn't like "If ur a hottie hmu". It was a nice change.

In interest, he clicked the "send a message" button and sent him one curious word:

'Hey'

Walter was throughly surprised with the reply speed of the person he had matched with. He hadn't expected someone to write back that quickly. It genuinely made him smile a little.

He set down the paint-coated paintbrush he was using and wiped his hands on his apron before picking up his phone. It took him only a quick second to read the reply, seeing how short it was. He giggled slightly at the use of an exclamation point and he didn't even know why.

He replied back calmly with one finger blue with dried paint.

How are you?

Walter hunched forward on his stool as he texted, using one hand to prop up his head. It was a nice experience to not receive a text along the lines of "send me a pic cutie". He had a good feeling about Harry already. It was a feeling he didn't normally get while messing around on that app.

I'm alright. Thanks for asking, but why is it surprising that you're doing good? Do you not have a lot of good days?

Walter frowned and furrowed his brows at the response. He hated seeing/ hearing about people not having goods days. He had no clue what he could possibly do to help this person, but he, sure as hell, was still going to offer to try. He tapped his paint-stained thumb on his phone to write up a reply to Harry.

Aw, well that's no good. I could try my best to help change that if you'd like

As he sent the reply, he looked up and out of the window of a room he called his "art studio". Though it was really just an empty bedroom. The sunset was beautiful. Golden and rosy, but dusty with the clouds on the horizon. It was the type of scene that Walter found worth painting.

Walter's gaze snapped back down to the phone in his hand as it buzzed in a notification. Walter couldn't help but laugh slightly at how quickly Harry was replying. After a little while, Walter typed up a reply.

Well, that I'm unsure of. I mean, anything that you'd like(within reason)

After sending the message, he set his phone down gently and picked back up the brush. He gently swiped it against the canvas he was painting on, slowly putting together the pieces of a shattered world. That was what Walter had believed to be the beauty of painting. He truly enjoyed it. Though he could hardly focus on it.

After a little bit of fighting the urge, Walter picked back up his phone and proceeded to take multiple pictures of the outside world.

The buzz of his phone had managed to pull Walter away from the beauty that laid behind his window. He tapped a notification from the app that he knew so well and read the message he had received. While reading the text, Walter let out an audible snicker. He hadn't thought about it before Harry pointed it out.
