"Alright. I'll make sure to tell them that when they come in. At least let them give you better suplies so that you can safely remove it yourself and treat it." Raina reasoned. "Maybe if your up to it afterwards you can have a bath to clean yourself up."
I really need to stop making more of these..(Open, 0/0)
She just nodded, the idea of a bath sounding very nice. Adira knew there was a very low chance that anything human made would be large enough to get her wings submerged as well, though maybe that was good with her injured wings. Why was this girl being so nice to her? Offering doctors and a bath. Humans were supposed to-no they were bad, they were responsible for her people's exile, and yet this one seemed amazed that someone like herself even existed and unless she was an adept liar, seemed to have no desire to hurt her.
The doctors entered the room a minute later. They too were shocked at the sight of her.
"She is in distress at the moment and does not want you touching her wings. Painkillers will still be needed and she will need suplies to her her try to remove the arrow on her own." She explained to the doctors before looking back at her. "Is it alright if the treat any other wounds that you have?" She asked, not wanting to over step boundaries.
Adira thought for a minute and gave the slightest of nods, knowing that her only other injuries that needed treatment were the gashes on her arms from branches. She could handle them touching her arms. As long as it was quick. She shifted and moved on the bed so that both of her wings could be spread out almost straight, even with how long they were. Treating her wounds was the first step to getting back to her family, she reminded herself, the first step to getting off this land and to her own before anything bad happened.
The doctors looked like they wanted to argue about the arrow but held their tounge. One doctor began to clean and wrap the gashes on her arms while the other retrieved painkillers for her.
Having someone clean her wounds wasn't something that happened often back at the island and she watched the doctor like a hawk, trying to remember the pattern in which he did everything so she could do it the next time around. Adira nodded to the other doctor in thanks when they came back with painkillers and realized that soon she would have to deal with her wings. Hopefully they would bring things she could use to fix everything up.
After the doctor finished cleaning up the scrapes on her arm she handed her a few different suplies. They gave her an ointment to put on the wing to numb the pain, a knife to create a bigger area to get the arrow out, and lots of gauss and gauss tape.
"Is it alright if we stay to make sure if you get it out correctly?" One if the doctors asked.
Raina looked over the way she watched them and decided it probably wasn't the best idea at the moment. "You can stand outside the doors but I think she would be more comfortable if you weren't in here." She explained.
(Sorry I was gone so long!)
(It's alright!)
"'She' will speak for herself." Adira said with a glare at the girl, though it was subdued since she did like that the girl seemed to respect her space. She didn't even look at the doctors as she answered bluntly, "No, get out." Before anything, she quickly took the painkillers, though was more wary at the numbing ointment as she spread it on the area around the arrow. Taking the knife in hand was easier, she was used to knives, though had never even considered using one near her wings before. It was a mystery how long the painkillers would take to work, so she just got right to it and slowly tried to make a tiny slice so it was easier to get the arrow out. She didn't want to break the arrow any more, mostly because it seemed like it would be what she was going to use to splint her wing.
The doctors packed up their stuff. One of them remembered to give Adira a splint before they exited the room.
Raina, on the other hand, stayed in the room to just seemingly stare at her. A thousand thought's a second were flying through her head, along with a million questions for Adira. But she could wait, for now.
The ointment seemed to be helping sightly, though she still hissed in pain as she made the cut. There was blood all over her hands in seconds as the wound opened back up but Adira just wiped her hands on her pants and let the blood join the mess. Pulling the arrow out wasn't going to feel good but she had to stop the bleeding and so she gritted her teeth after tossing the knife on the floor and grabbed onto the shaft of the arrow. All she wanted to do was close her eyes but she forced them open, twisting the arrow to get it unlodged and cursing under her breath. Slowly wasn't the way to go. "Dammit." Adira hissed, trying to pull it out in one swift motion but only making it a few inches before she was blinking back tears from the pain,
(sceams in doesn't know what to do)
(XD uhhh maybe Raina could leave and try to get clothes or food or something, that way she has something to barter with if she wants to ask questions. Idk just a suggestion)
(That makes sense! I didn't want to to start asking questions while she was doing that.)
Raina got up and left, leaving her alone to dress her wound. When she stepped outside she looked at the gaurds. "No one come in or out of this room." She said before heading to the kitchen.
On the way there she asked a maid for a loose pair of clothing with two long holes through the back of the shirt to be delivered to the room.
She reached the kitchen and grabbed various things to eat. Bread, cheese, fruit, crackers, various pastries, and a pitcher of water with glasses were all placed on a tray to carry back upstairs.
Tears had run visible streaks through the dirt on her face by the time she had patched up her one wing. Trying to set her other wing was a whole different ball game, and even with the painkillers numbing her, she knew enough to grab a handful of the blanket from the bed and press her face in it so her screams weren't as loud when she gripped onto either side of the bone and pushed it back into place. It was more painful than breaking the bone was to begin with, and she sobbed into the blanket for what felt like forever before even trying to finish splinting it and wrapping it.
Raina grabed the tray of food and headed back up to the room. One of the guards was holding the pair of clothe's that she had requested. She grabbed onto those before slipping back into the room.
A pang of sympathy went through her chest as she saw the tear marks down her face. "Are you doing better now?" She asked as she set the tray and clothes down next to her. She knew she would probably get snapped at for this question but it was better to ask then assume.
Adira just nodded, having no snappy remark as she wiped at her face to get rid of any remnants of the tears. The food caught her attention but she didn't touch it, as well as the clothes since it seemed a waste to change into clean clothes when the rest of her was still smeared with mud and blood. She glanced up at the girl for a minute, quickly looking away again and becoming very interested in the floor. She didn't know what to do now, exhausted and numb from painkillers but at the same time very aware of where she was and all the danger that was surrounding her.
Raina raised an eyebrow when no sarcastic remark came her way. She sat down on the bed, next to the tray.
"I know this is all very new and you probably have a thousand questions. You can ask them and I will try to answer them to the best of my abilities." She offered. "But you have to answer my questions as well."
She thought over the offer for a bit, wondering just what this girl wanted to know. Eventually Adira nodded though, running her hand over the arrow pierced wing gently and trying to brush the mud and dirt out from her feathers. "I will answer your questions as soon as I am pointed towards where I can wash off." It wasn't much of a bargain, but all she wanted to do was wash off and eat, not answer questions even though she had more than her fair share of questions as well.
Raina pointed to a door on the other side of the room. "That is the bathing room. There should be everything you need in there. If you do need anything else than just ask." She explained before handing her the pair of clothes. "You can wear these since you old clothes look pretty torn up."
Adira took the clothes and stood, trying her best not to let her wings drag along the floor as she glanced at the girl again and gave the smallest of nods. She picked up the knife she used to get the arrow loose from where it laid on the floor and set it ontop of the clothes, offering no explanation why she was bringing it with. It was difficult to get into the attached room with her wings mostly outstretched, but she couldn't them in far so she made do and got the door closed behind herself.
She didn't come back out for quite a while, though when she did come back out, she looked much better. Her hair was still wet but the silvery color wasn't dulled with grime anymore, her wings were also back to the unblemished ebony black they normally were with the exception of the bandages and splint. Overall she looked much better and she was dressed in the clothes the girl had given her, though the back of the shirt was very modified. The two slits had been replaced by a gaping hole in the back that was tied by a strip of the shirt at the top and bottom.
Raina patiently waited for the girl to come out of the room. She did wonder why she brought the knife in, hoping she wouldn't harm herself while in there but she didn't see like the person to do that.
After she came out of the washroom, she stared at her in awe. Hair colors that she had weren't common and neither were the wings. She quickly snapped out of her trance, looking away.
"You look a lot better." She commented. "Do you want to talk now?"
"I'm going to eat," She snapped, though it didn't hold much bite as she walked back to the bed and sat down on the opposite side of the tray, "Ask me what you wish." Her old clothes she had dumped unceremoniously right outside the bathroom door, but the knife made no appearance again. Adira wasn't stupid, that knife was most likely the only form of a weapon she would be able to get her hands on, and she wasn't going to give it back. She hadn't bothered to tie her hair back again and it spilled past the base of her wings as she hesitantly pulled the tray closer and looked over the food.
She recognised almost everything on the plate, and thankfully there was no sign of any meat coming from a bird anywhere. Meat wasn't an issue for Adira, but bird was strictly off limits for her kind, the similarities between the species was too much and birds were considered a blessing whenever seen. The pastries were the one thing she didn't recognise and so she didn't touch them, instead hesitantly sampling some of the fruit.
"Do you mind explaining how you got here?" Raina asked, trying to look for the knife she took in. "And what is your name?"
Adira looked up at the girl, keeping her answers brief, "I got lost in a storm when I was out on patrol with my group, I tried to get back but ended up here insead. As for my name, I'm Adira Fastonia." She nibbled at a few more pieces of fruit before asking two questions of her own to be fair, "What is your name? And who are you that you have so much power around here?" She had caught on quickly that this girl was important around here, guards obeyed her and she was who they had brought her to when they first caught her.
Rain nodded along with her story. "That is a very nice name, Adira." She complemented, glad she had a name to put to the face. "It…suites you."
"I am Raina Grimes and I am the only heir to the Grimian empire." She introduced, placing her hand on her chest as she did so. "But you may call me Rain if you wish."
"Thank you. Rain.." Adira ran the name past her lips, listening to how it sounded and matching it to the face of the girl in front of her, "Princess, or Queen?" She didn't know what to try next after finishing off the fruit. The bread seemed like a harmless option, one she recognised and decided to try as she waited for whatever questions Rain had next.
"Princess at the moment, though going to be Queen very soon." Rain said, looking down at lap for a moment.
"Anyways, are you enjoying the food?" She asked, looking back up at her.
She nodded, picking at a piece of bread and turning over one of the only remaining questions in her mind. Adira didn't want to turn the encounter weird, but she had to know how long the kindness was going to last. "Raina, what are you and the ruling king or queen here going to do with me? Am I going to be killed? Humans almost hunted my kind to extinction, I doubt your kind has changed within only a few generations." She finally asked, looking up at the girl and then at the tray of food, waiting to hear a response of some sort.
Raina stared at her, suprised by the sudden outburst. "Adira, I'll be honest, I have no idea what will happen with you but I will tell you one thing. You will not be killed." She assured her.
"No matter what happens, I will make sure of that."
