Kade spotted the girl from earlier, and sighed. Of all the luck-

He slipped behind a rack of shelves, pulling his hood over his head and looking through some clothes, as if he was going to buy something. He didn't speak to the girl. He wasn't in the mood. He had to get his heart to stop racing, and who knew when that would be? He shook his head.

Sloppy. So sloppy. He cursed himself in anger. He had just been stealing a bike from the parking lot. Everyone would have thought that it belonged to him, right? But no, this was not true. The owner of the motorcycle had come back, just as he had started the thing, to Kade's annoyance. And then the owner had called the cops.

How disrespectful of them.

@gracehustle

It was a tempting choice to just leave the guy alone, but she almost felt bad. She knew what it felt like to be chased, and as much as she thought he had been an absolute ass the last time they had talked, she figured he could use some help. Her mind still told her not to talk to him, maybe to even turn him in as she walked over to the shelves he had slipped behind and pretended to be looking for clothes in the same area.

"You screwed up, big time," Casey whispered, looking over at the guy with a smug look on her face, "Maybe next time try to be more discreet in whatever you got caught doing."

@PrettyLittlePyro

Kade rolled his golden eyes, turning to her with a flat look. "But where's the fun in that? Maybe I want to stop running. Maybe that would make things much easier for me, just to get caught." He wasn't telling the truth, he didn't really want to, but he had been tempted to, on many occasions.

@gracehustle

"But then why would you waste all this time running into a store and trying to blend in?" She replied, finding it funny that now the roles almost seemed reversed. This time she was the one being a jerk, he was the one being all serious. Casey hummed softly, pulling out a jacket and looking it over as she continued, "As fun as it might be, you seem to not want to be caught. Maybe I could help?"

@PrettyLittlePyro

"I don't think you could," Kade said, realizing what she was doing. She was trying to act like he had the other day, and so he smiled, as if he was speaking to a small child. "After all, what could a person like you know about helping me? What could you do?"

@gracehustle

Casey glared at him as his tone changed and she rolled her eyes, "I know plenty about helping self-centered pricks, if that's what you're asking. I know how you could get out of here without getting caught." She put the jacket back and shrugged, spinning on her heel and starting to walk away slowly, "But it's up to you if you would rather walk out of here in cuffs or get away from your buddies out there."

@PrettyLittlePyro

"I prefer the term arrogant, thank you," Kade said. He was unwilling to accept her help, as his pride wouldn't allow it. "And there's no way you could help someone like me. I'm one of a kind." He turned away from her, although his survival instinct screamed at him to accept her help.

@gracehustle

"I mean then you have the option of letting me or that lovely cashier over there squealing and getting whatever they offer in reward for help to catch you," She called, browsing through clothes at the other end of the rack of clothes. Casey pulled a shirt she liked over her arm, adding to the pile of things she wanted to get. It didn't matter to her whether he accepted her help or not. She had tried to be nice, or as nice as she wanted to be to someone who looked like he had never spent more than a day of his life on the run.

@PrettyLittlePyro

This girl was really getting on his nerves. "Yeah, well if she squeals on me, at least it will be a good-looking person doing so," he snapped, turning on his heel and storming away.

@gracehustle

"Ouch, I'm offended," She called back, the sarcasm very clear. Casey didn't take his comment to heart, mostly because she already knew she wasn't good looking. Her arms were full of things she wanted but she continued looking through the store, making her way over to the shoe section and trying to find a nice pair. There were too many options, though she narrowed it down to a pair of fairly pristine running shoes or a pair of boots that had caught her eye. Once she decided on this, she told herself she was leaving. No matter if he took her help or not. Her gut told her not to rat him out either way though, even as much as she wanted to.

@PrettyLittlePyro

Kade stared at her for a moment, before slipping through a couple racks of clothes, to hide. He slid into the restroom, trying to look like he just needed to do something, but in reality, he was changing into some clothes that he had stolen from the racks.

Hopefully no one would check the cameras.

@gracehustle

She settled on the shoes after a minute, putting the boots back and glancing at them longingly as she walked out of the row. There was no way she could afford both pair though, or carry them in her bag. Even the stack of clothes she had right now was going to be too expensive, so she started the tough process of deciding what she actually needed and would get the most use out of.

@PrettyLittlePyro

"Will everyone come out of the store with their hands up?" Came the announcement on the loudspeaker. Kade cursed. What was he going to do now? There were probably a lot of cops around the area, all waiting for him to exit. He should have worn a mask or something.

@gracehustle

Casey huffed at the announcement. There was no way in hell that she was going out those doors. The last thing she needed was for her background to be checked or some other dumb thing and suddenly have the cops on her as well. She just hoped there was a back exit. Saddly, she set down her stack of clothes, pulling out a thick leather jacket she had boon looking at as well as her running shoes. It would be risky to go out whatever back way they had, but she was going to risk it.

Shrugging on the jacket overtop of her outfit as well as switching out her shoes quickly, she made her way to the back of the store. There had to be an exit somewhere along the wall.

@PrettyLittlePyro

Kade slipped from the bathroom. Instantly, he felt exposed. The bathroom had offered him some cover, but not for long. He couldn't hide in there. It wouldn't work, and he would be found instantly.

He had changed into ripped jeans and a band tee, and done his best to comb his hair in a way that was unlike him. It wasn't the best disguise, but it was better than nothing. He had left his old clothes in the trash can. Hopefully the cops wouldn't check there until he was long gone.

@gracehustle

The first section of the wall held nothing except racks of clothes, leaving Casey to start to get anxious. She made sure to check the wall adjoining where she had just looked before moving on as well. While she looked, she started to mess with her hair, floofing it up a little and flipping it over into a style more suited to make her look like a teen girl just shopping. It didn't feel right after she messed with it, but it would help her blend in if she couldn't find a second way to go out.

She could hear the cops shout something muffled through the front doors, leading her to walk quicker along the back wall. Clothes. Clothes. And surprisingly, even more clothes. It wasn't until she reached the farthest corner of the wall that she spotted a door, clearly marked with an 'employees only' sign. Bingo.

@PrettyLittlePyro

Kade spotted the girl from earlier slipping into a door labelled "Employees Only." He could go in there… but what then? He would have to face her arrogance, and he really didn't want to. Plus, it would look suspicious if the security cameras were watched. He couldn't go there.

He moved to the door leading to outside, glancing back at that girl one last time. His instincts warned him not to leave her, but he didn't listen. He would be fine. She would just get in trouble, right?

@gracehustle

Casey slipped through the door, entering a back room that had a final door leading to the outside. Best case scenario, there was no police outside the door and she got away free… In the worst case, they accused her of doing whatever the guy from inside did and he got away free instead. She stayed in the room for a second, adjusting her new outfit one last time before stepping outside into an alleyway. Right in between two not so friendly looking cops.

"Perfect," She huffed, drawing their attention within seconds. Well, getting out of this one was going to be very interesting.

"Hands on your head and step away from the door," The taller and stronger looking cop said, a scowl on his face. He didn't draw his weapon, just kept a hand rested gently on it as she did what he said begrudgingly.

@PrettyLittlePyro

After a long struggle with himself, Kade finally relented and followed the girl from earlier. He followed from a distance, keeping hidden in the racks of clothes. He ducked out of sight as two cops ran past, searching, and cursed quietly as, a moment later, she exited the employees only door.

"Why did you do that?" He grumbled, as the cops caught up to her. Time to be the hero. Great.

He stepped from his hiding place and smiled winningly at the two cops. "Hello, gentlemen," he said cheerfully. "How are you two doing? Lovely day today, isn't it? Perfect and sunny and warm."

(What do we want their backgrounds to be?)

@gracehustle

(What do you mean? I'll get my answer up soon, just was curious as to what you mean first)

@PrettyLittlePyro

(I dunno, I was just thinking that if we want them to interact more, we should probably figure out what they have in common in their backgrounds. That's just me, though!)

@gracehustle

(That's true, I think besides that they're both running from the law, they should have more in common)

The taller cop's attention snapped to him as soon as he stepped out of the door, a glare on his face, "Who are you?" The younger looking cop did the same, though also didn't take his eyes off of Casey for long. At least one of them seemed worried about her getting away.

Casey glanced over her shoulder, hiding a scowl. Great, it was mystery prick. A tiny spark of hope kindled in her that he could help her get away from these cops, one that she was quick to stuff out. He had already shown that he wasn't interested in giving or receiving help.

@PrettyLittlePyro

(They should. But what?)

"You don't recognize me? Shame." Kade shook his head in mock sadness. "Come on. I mean, I know I'm not as famous as some of the others out there, but seriously, everyone should recognize me!" He tilted his head, acting dumb. "Or are you two not fans? That must be it." He held out his hand to them, acting completely calm. "Morgan Freeman. Nice to meet you. What are your names?"

Not only did he look nothing like Morgan Freeman, or sound like him, but Kade also didn't even act the same way. Hopefully, though, these two cops were dumb enough not to recognize his lie.

@gracehustle

(Hmmm the death of someone they love maybe? I'm not really sure lol, my mind is blank)
For a minute, the taller cop looked suspicious, but then just nodded, shrugging as he shook his hand, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Freeman. I don't really pay much attention to celebrities so I didn't recognize you. I'm Sergeant Bronds and this is my partner, Officer Mation." The younger cop looked like he was going to protest or say something, but stopped before any words came out, following in the other cop's movements and shaking his hand.

It wasn't a surprise that Casey saw right through this lie, snorting in amusement but expertly covering it with a cough. She turned so she was looking at him, a flicker of something similar to being impressed in her eyes. How mystery guy was pulling this off, she wasn't sure, but it was quite impressive. Especially since he didn't even choose someone that actually looked similar to him.

@PrettyLittlePyro

(Same here XD)

Kade smiled winningly at the two of them. "Officer Maton and Sergeant Bronds, nice to meet you." He smiled warmly, although he couldn't hide the tiny flash of amusement that went through him. "What brings you here, to a clothing store?" He had no idea what he was doing. Wasting time? Being an idiot? He didn't know.

@gracehustle

"We're trying to catch the person that stole a motorcycle, they ran into the store and haven't come out yet." Officer Matton explained, jabbing a finger towards Casey, "We think she's the one that stole the motorcycle since she was slipping out that door like she had done something wrong, unless you know that there's someone else hiding in there that could clear her name."

Casey shot a glare at mystery guy, silently asking him to lie to the cops so she would be let free. Whether or not he would do it was a completely different story, but she hoped he would do it.

@PrettyLittlePyro

Kade laughed. "Really? Well, I was just talking to a few of the officers who saw it, a few minutes ago. They said it was a colored guy." He motioned to the strange girl. "She is neither colored, nor a guy. I think you might be getting it wrong." He paused, pretending to think. "Although, I have seen signs like this. Usually, when panic attacks happen, they will do anything to make it stop. Those kinds of people are never in their right minds." He shook his head sadly. "It's a shame."

@gracehustle

"That is true, I suppose she can't be the one who stole it then." The Sergeant turned to Casey for a minute, nodding apologetically, "Sorry for the mix-up ma'am, I hope you have a good day. You're free to go."

She relaxed visibly and nodded back politely, not acting at all like the person she had just been inside the store, "It's totally alright, I hope you catch the guy." Casey even flashed a fake smile as she glanced up at the mystery guy and somehow made a convincing response to him, "Thank you for clearing my name, I hope all of you have good days." With that she turned and left, walking down the alley away from the way the cops were. Who knew how long it would take for them to figure out the blatant lie that the mystery guy had told. She wanted to be far away when they realized that, seeing as she would be a suspect once again.

@PrettyLittlePyro

Kade waved to the officers. He couldn't believe that had worked. "Thank you, gentlemen. I hope you find who you're looking for," he said, smiling. "It was nice to meet you." He turned and started to walk toward the entrance of the store, and although he had no idea what he would do if he was called out, he had gotten a surge of confidence from his success, and so he was sure that he could figure… well, something out.

@gracehustle

The officers nodded, smiling at him as he walked away. "Have a good day sir," The officer said, turning back to his partner as she turned back to the job at hand, watching the doorway for anyone else to come out.

Casey didn't waste a second as she got out of the alley at the back of the store, letting out a relieved sigh before starting to jog out towards a road. She needed to get out of this town, as soon as she could. Even if she didn't like stealing things like cars and motorcycles, this seemed like the time to do it, as the cop's attention would be on that store. First, though, she had to grab her bag where it was stashed at one of the parks in town. She couldn't leave it behind, no way. Her eyes flicked around as she started walking along the road, searching for any motorcycles or unlocked cars for easy targets.
