I was feeling aggressively aromantic this morning, who wants a very platonic one on one? (Now closed but like you can stalk I guess)

The city of Quam has all types, thieves, scammers, merchants, assassins, and sometimes those who take all four roles on at once. The political system is full of arrogants who care only for their own well-being and the law enforcement is incompetent and corrupt. But Quam has a certain charm, it simply can't keep people out and you get all sorts in this wonderfully insane city.

But Quam has a new Monarch, someone who knows the game all too well and will drag the city through change kicking and screaming if they have to. Of course, Quam, like most places, isn't very welcoming of change. Remember those assassins? Fortunately, the Monarch has a very trustworthy Captain of the Royal guard.

You see where I'm going? Very close friendship/queerplatonic relationship because I love those and also some neat intrigue craziness. I'd kinda like our characters to be narrative foils? It would be fun.

Same rules as andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)'s, I'd prefer the joiner to be a more experienced writer, don't be a bigoted ass, and have fun! We can post a template or just jump in, either is fine.

Well I have a small idea for the Captain so I guess I'll take them if that's okay.

Absolutely! And that just leaves us with template or immediately jumping in, whatever works best.

Probably just jumping in, I do have to go to sleep soon so making a semi-fleshed out character might not be best for me currently.

The trees looked different today, almost restless in the grey, windy morning. Kadia stretched out her arms, feeling spreading throughout her sleep-numbed muscles. She looked at her schedule for the day, flipping through the pages of carefully written times and dates. She had a meeting with the Captain of her personal Guard, not to mention she'd heard whispers of a conspiracy to get rid of her that she'd likely have to handle in a more public way than preferred. Executions were so much hassle, but they sent a message and as long as she was in a stable position she didn't much care how she managed to stay there.

There was also the growing pile of paperwork she needed to deal with, and unfortunately she just never had the time to handle it. But that was a different problem, and not the most pressing issue on her mind. There was also the War. Citizens hated great changes, except when it came to war. At least, while it wasn't happening and while they'd had sufficient time to forget the hardships of the last one. It was still early days, but too far to pull out now since the previous Monarch decided to invade every stretch of land he could get his hands on. That, obviously, cut his lifelong term a bit short. But Kadia had the keys to power and she wasn't letting go that easily.

Caspian was always ready and alert at dawn, sometimes even before the sun rose. Duty called, it was always good to be prepared and alert as soon as you were awake, especially in these times. He'd eaten, trained and was on ready as the sun filtered over the horizon. He knew that, maybe he was being too paranoid, however it was who he was. His job was who he was, he didn't exactly have much of a life outside of that, anyway.

The Captain knew he had a meeting with Kadia soon. He always felt better when she was in sight, mainly because he could protect her if any would-be assassins came sneaking in. They never got close enough to do any damage, anyway, he'd made sure of that. With the talk of war, an up and coming assassination attempt he had much to deal with and too little time to handle it. It was why these meetings were always appreciated. He got to see his friend, and know about any threats he needed to protect her from.

Kadia took the chance to water the calla lilies in the pot by her room, sighing. Mother always said she had beautiful dark skin like calla lilies. Mother had always praised her for that, for her beauty. She moved on, calling for the maid and allowing herself to be dressed in a geometrically patterned garment, with deep blues and purples along the robe. It wasn't that uncomfortable compared to most clothing, and it looked good on her.

She was escorted out of her room by two members of her guard, followed by six more. Protective measures and all that, but she did miss her privacy. They'd be waiting in the other room in case of an emergency, anyways, these meetings had to be private for the sake of safety. Caspian would be here soon, Kadia knew him as a disciplined and punctual man who arrived exactly when told to and not a second later.

Caspian headed to the designated place of meeting, a hand placed on the gold and ruby handle of his sword that was constantly stuck to his side. His dark brown eyes stayed straight on the path ahead, only moving if he saw one of his guards to give them a nod, a gesture that was returned to the dark skinned man. He sighed softly, rubbing at the stubble on his jaw with his free hand and made a note that he needed to shave, something he should have done earlier.

He pushed open the doors, a movement that felt like pushing a feather as he headed right for Kadia, trying to suppress the smile that threatened to spill out as he gave a half bow, "Good morning, your majesty."

"Caspian." she nodded. "Its good to see you. Can you give me an update on the rotation of the guards this afternoon and evening? I have a hunch about something." she said. Kadia tugged at one of her braids casually, but her eyes showed a bit of nervousness. "Don't tell anyone this, but-" she looked around to see if anyone else could hear them. No, fortunately not, "-I have a feeling a member of my court has sent another assassin, but I really have no idea who it could be. If there were any new recruits I'd know about it, but no. So it's someone you'd probably trust under normal circumstances." she said.

The Captain nodded, standing a few feet away from Kadia, "Guards are on rotation every hour this evening and every three this afternoon," He sighed though his nose, thinking over his next words for a moment, "I had a feeling there was something wrong. I'll up the guards and make sure the ones surrounding you are the people I trust the most. I'm not having you assassinated under my watch. I'll up the boarder patrol, too, make sure no one is slipping in and out without us knowing."
