Little bit of a different rp, since there SO many romance ones, (which is fine!), and tbh I want something new.
…I hope I'm not the only one here who would die for the "grizzled old traumatized character ends up adopting the young ray of starshine" trope. Joel and Ellie from the first Last of Us, anyone?
As usual, when starting these more out-there ideas, I have no idea if I'll be getting any interest or not, but hey, worth a shot

in my own version of this, there are several options we could traverse.
Since I call being old trauma-man, your character can be any age under this sun (except anything past teens. 19's stretching it). Like, we could meet when your character's a baby. Or when they're 17. Or anywhere in between. My preference is a little older, since it's gonna hurt my little heart if I have to write about an old man being mean to a young child because he's fighting his own fatherly instincts.
But, up to you!
Also, my character is not going to be an oc of mine, I'm stealing him from the Doom world, but whatever, I love him regardless. Just lettin ya know.

Personality: Arlath is kind, if subdued. He doesn't talk too much, and seems distant. He'll be friendly, but on a superficial level, and really doesn't want any sort of close relationships. He does not talk about whatever happened to him, but it's clear he's been through some stuff. The more he's push, the more terse he gets

Personality: He's got a bit of an ego. He's usually a bit irritable, but will force a smile on his face if he has to. Very blunt, which can make him a bit cold sounding. If he ends up liking someone, he can be protective and less snappish. He's honestly quite the tired person on the inside.
Physical Description: Gorge has hazel eyes, black glasses, and a round face. He is 5'9 and weighs 118 pounds. He usually wairs a black hoodie with black pants on weekends. On weekdays, He wairs a T-shirt or a blue sweater his mom gave him.

Arlath wasn't in Hell anymore. Though that would usually qualify as a good thing to most people, Arlath found his heart sinking even lower than it had been before. Change demanded one apply himself to figure out what in tarnation had happened, and that required energy.
Energy was one thing he just did not have. So as he stood there, staring dully at the extremely different scenery, all he could think was that the air was a lot fresher here. The afterimage of the red angry Hellscape that had surrounded him not moments prior faded slowly, replaced by the greens, blues, and all around rainbow of colors experienced in not-Hell.
He had no idea where he was, or why, or what happened. He let himself sink to the ground, leaning against an obliging tree and staring out at this new world.
If anyone had asked him, he would have confirmed that this was not how he'd planned his day going, but no one asked him. At least I'm still alone.
it was a thin line to grasp at, but it was the only line he had. He'd just have to make do.
