I collapsed against my mattress, curling into a tight ball beneath the covers. All the stress and tension of the night came leaking through my body in the form of tears, warm and bitter. I buried my face in my pillow in an attempt to stay quiet, but it was no use. And in all honesty, I couldn't bring myself to care if Angelo heard me. He'd probably be happy, anyways.

My hands trembled as I hastily typed out and sent a message to Romeo, unable to wait any longer.

JULIET: I'm sorry

Romeo’s POV

The evening had been insane to say the least. But they tended to be when your best friend turns up at your door on the verge of tears. I checked my phone every once and awhile for Juliet, but the majority of the time was spent soothing Mercutio, which was quite the pain since he wouldn’t tell me what was wrong.

I rolled over on my bed as I got a text, only to frown at the message.

ROMEO: What’s wrong?

(aw……… poor Mercutio)

I stared at his message for a long time, blinking back the tears that threatened to spill again.

JULIET: Paris.

I felt fear begin to pump through my veins.

ROMEO: Did he do anything to you? Do you want me to come over? Can I come over?

JULIET: No, yes, and no. Angelo's home. Sprung a surprise dinner on me with Paris and his parents.

I inhaled deeply, my thumbs pausing over the screen for a second.

JULIET: I think they're going through with the marriage.

(I fell asleep on you again. I honestly need to improve my willpower to stay awake…)

ROMEO: Juliet, I’m not going to leave you unless you fall for Paris and don’t want me around anymore.

JULIET: I’ll be in Sicily the day after I graduate.

JULIET: Can’t you tell me now? Is everything okay??

ROMEO: Everything’s fine. Has to do with Mercutio. Have you talked to Marina today by any chance?

JULIET: She’s not picking up her phone. I texted her, she left me on read. I was going to go and see her… and then my father sprig a surprise dinner with Paris.

ROMEO: She might be upset too then. We can figure it out tomorrow.

JULIET: alright…. I wish I didn’t have to wait all day to hug you..

ROMEO: At least we sit next to each other in drama. After school Im all yours.

JULIET: I can’t wait… how are you?

ROMEO: I’m okay. Worried about you, mostly.

JULIET: You don’t need to worry about me

ROMEO: Too late.

JULIET: I’ll be fine
