"Scones? Alright then," James said, smiling a bit more at that. "Always a good choice, scones. Or Danishes, they happen to be a personal favorite."

"Danishes are good too" said Arthur quietly, smiling softly at James, blushing ever so slightly.

James flashed Arthur and almost charming smile at that. "Good, good," he said before returning to navigating the streets

Arthur felt himself blush even more, what the heck is with this guy…. It's almost like he's trying to hit on me…

Eventually, they happened upon the brick and mortar café, an unlit neon sign hung outside. James went to the door, holding it open for Arthur with that same smile on his face. "After you," he hummed

Arthur slipped inside, shrinking into his hood a little at the sight and sounds of other people. One or two he could handle, but not a lot.

James glanced at Arthur as they walked inside, noticing that he was a little on edge. "Relax. None here can hurt you," he murmured, natural protectiveness getting to him

Arthur tried to relax, but with the amount of people around he was still a bit on edge.

Eventually, James figured that physical contact might help soothe him. So he wrapped an arm very loosely around Arthur, just gently helping to steer him towards the end of the line

Arthur tensed even more at that, getting a bit red. Whyyyyyyy he thought, and why does he keep making me feel weird???

James kept his "grip" on Arthur loose, only nudging him forward here and there as they went through the line. He saw that someone had given them a look, and he almost snarled at them

Arthur shrunk a little when he felt James' protectiveness, trying desperately to sort out what was going on here.

Eventually they got to the front of the line, and James let his arm fall away from Arthur's back. "What do you want?" he asked, gesturing to the menu

"Hot chocolate" mumbled Arthur, still a bit weirded out. Watching James as he ordered he took a chance to look around at the other people.

James nodded, ordering that and a black coffee for himself. "Anything to eat?" he asked, glancing over to him again

"I had my fill earlier…" said Arthur quietly, turning back to watch him.

"Alright," James said, ordering himself a Danish or two before paying and walking to a small table for two, which he took a seat at

Arthur followed him, sitting awkwardly on the other side. Watching James for a moment he quickly resolved to studying the wood of the table, carefully sipping his hot chocolate.

James took a nibble from his Danish, chin resting in the palm of one hand. "So where are you from, Arthur?" he eventually asked, striking up some light conversation

"Wolf territories…." said Arthur, not meeting the other's gaze. "It's pretty far East of here…"

"Did you like it there?" James asked, taking a sip of his coffee after he spoke

"Yeah.. It was nice when I was a kid…" said Arthur wistfully, Wishing he could go back to the time where he and his twin siblings played together every day.

"Would you ever want to go back someday? Or can you?" James asked, seemingly curious as he spoke.

"I… I plan on it eventually…" said Arthur… "All my siblings are there…." he looked down at the table sheepishly. "I… I just need time to figure things out.."
more like I still need to learn how to live with myself after All I did to them..

"You should certainly visit them, at least. If I could, I would visit my own siblings," James said, something sad behind his eyes now. "Cherish them, and you will not regret it, I assure you that."

"I do… all I ever wanted was to protect them and…." Arthur stopped himself, shame washing over him. It's my fault… I wasn't strong enough…

James seemed to sense Arthur's distress, and he felt a familiar, painful twinge in his heart at the sight. "You did what you could. That's all that counts," he murmured, reaching across the table to gently rest a hand on Arthur's arm

Arthur flinched, pulling away. No I didn't…. I could've done more! He buried his face in his arms, not wanting to face James.
