jekyll and hyde modern AU because I am once again on my bullshit. (o/o)

Hey it's me back on my bullshit, having only read like six classic lit books and the scarlet letter having been one of them. Anyways, Jekyll and Hyde is a favorite because I Am Trans Of Gender and I have… some ideas… some fucking,,, some ideas…

Rules are: Anything goes in terms of darkness and whatnot, but more triggering topics will be taken to DMs. No one liners, no bigotry, and be kind. Have fun!

The plot is:

Doctor Henry Jekyll is an older, say 50-something Professor of Ethics and Moral Philosophy at some random University, and Edward Hyde is a new student in the school, recommended by none other than the one and only good Doctor himself. But something is wrong with this new student, he disappears for days on end, and when he's around, chaos erupts. What is wrong with this new student? And can your character figure it out, before it's too late?

So again, I am back on my bullshit. You needn't know anything about Jekyll and Hyde besides the fact that nobody here is straight. Have fun, and stay safe in this time of Covid-19!

(Also, sorry for spamming this with random thoughts, but like, Ethics and Moral Philosophy was what I chose solely because of the Good Place. And also because it kinda makes sense. Yes, I know, Henry Jekyll was a doctor of Law and Medicine, but I do what I want.)

Appearance:

Marin has fair skin and a face full of freckles. Her eyes are blue and her red hair is usually kept in a ponytail. When it's down, it reaches just a few inches past her shoulders.
Personality: Marin has a stubborn streak a mile long and a habit of making other people's' business her own. She doesn't do it for malicious reasons, though; Marin just struggles with the idea of hey maybe you don't need to know this. In involving herself in things that she doesn't really need to be involved in, Marin tends to find herself in trouble or just awkward situations a lot. It happens often enough that she's pretty good at getting out of situations like that.
Strengths: Observant, good at getting herself and others out of trouble, focus that I really wish I had
Weaknesses: Not the best at picking up certain social skills, minding her own business, tends to be loud, time management
Interests: Comic books, drawing, fuck it she's gonna be in the college color guard too
Backstory: Marin's backstory is pretty much average. She grew up with a family that was thankfully very supportive of her, graduated high school, and went off to the University to study. She took Ethics and Morality because it seemed interesting and she had a bit of empty space in her schedule anyway, so why not?
Other: Marin will sometimes show up to class late after a long practice still carrying her color guard things. She's been stopped several times because of a couple of her guard props and had to explain that no, campus officer, that's just a piece of plastic that looks like a weapon, it doesn't even have a hole to shoot out of/it's not even sharp. She lives in the dorms.

Doctor Jekyll was sitting in his office, waiting patiently for Marin Abreda to come to his office. He always arranged to see his students throughout the first month or two, wanting to get to know them so that he could best help them learn. He liked getting to know people, too, honestly. It was tiring and by the end of the day he liked to take a good long nap and then go out for the night with some other professors. So busy, so much to do, and he never managed to find time for himself. Well, except as Hyde, but that wasn't even strictly time even as himself. However, it was the closest he had to time being alone, and even then he surrounded himself with people. It was the youth, he assumed, giving him the energy he needed. He ruffled his grey curls, tapped his feet on the floor, drummed his fingers on the desk and stared at the clock. If she didn't come in soon, he'd have to move onto the next student and reschedule with her. A shame too, she seemed like a nice girl, from what he'd read at least.

Marin entered the room with an awkward wave. "Heyy, sorry I'm late. Guard practice ran long again, and then somehow I got roped into an argument over the importance of face paint in a performance setting for two hours, don't know how that happened but it did and I am so sorry, Professor. Anyways, you, um, wanted to see me?"

"Yes, come in, have a seat. Now, I was wondering, how is the coursework so far for you? Are you enjoying your studies? Is there anything you could tell me about the class that might help improve it in some way? I'm always looking for feedback from students, they're the ones who have made me as successful as I am now." he chuckled, waving a hand. "Or, you may simply tell me about yourself. I believe that knowing a student well is the key to successful teaching, so feel free to come in any time, even if just to chat. You already know my office hours." he grinned.

(Jekyll is just like (': dying inside. He's trying so hard, my god.)

(But he's also just a little evil so I don't feel bad.)

(Sorry for taking so long dfkslnva I'm in the car on the way to hockey and doing homework at the same time)

(Oh, don't worry about it! I too have my busy days.)

Marin sat down across from the doctor with an apologetic smile. "The coursework is great, actually. It's not heavy enough to the point that I'm drowning in essays, and it's an interesting class. Most of the time, it's not confusing, and when something is confusing, you do a good job at explaining it. Honestly, it's probably one of my favorite classes. It's just… ah, never mind." She stopped herself before she could bring up her problem. That would be rude, just because Professor Jekyll was the, well, Professor, that didn't necessarily mean he could instantaneously handle every chaotic student who came into the classroom.

(Jekyll: Yes hello is there anything I can do to make your experience in this class any more enjoyable?)

(Marin: Uhh other than the problem kid you're doing just fine)

"You can tell me anything, Marin. I won't tell a soul outside this classroom what you've said to me, alright?" he promised, and with his particular moral code, his promises were ironclad. At least… as himself. "Is it someone you know? I can talk to them if you want me to, or I can keep silent and back you up as you need me to for whatever problems you may face."

Marin sighed, "Kind of? Yeah? It's… well, it's another student. Edward Hyde? He's kind of… well, I guess disruptive is about as good a way as any to put it. I really don't want to be rude, but if could try and talk to him about it, it might be helpful? If there's anything you can even do about it."
