Alex sighed when he saw that she wasn't trying to run. "Ok… Just how much did you see?" he asked, trying not to show how nervous he was.

"That's not the best question to ask for someone who believes that they're running for their life." Melanie's voice was tense. "I saw a non-native wolf in the area. I fled. You came from absolutely nowhere. I want to believe that you keep a wolf as a pet, but that seems illogical."
Alex sighed, "Don't freak" he said firmly before shifting. Sitting directly in front of her, in wolf form.
"You-you're not-"Melanie backed away by ten feet as fast as she could. "That isn't possible! Human DNA cannot just reconstruct itself into wolf DNA, and vice versa! I mean, hell, I'm expecting for me to wake up in bed right now, or to be told I'm hallucinating, but I can't-this is too real!" Melanie started pacing, not moving towards the wolf, but letting her guard slightly down and she thought, rambling all she knew about humans and wolfs and DNA.
Alex rolled his eyes. "I'm a halfblood Wolf. Half human, half wolf." He said, knowing that there really wasn't any scientific way to explain it.
Melanie stopped pacing. "Yeah, right! And I'm a magician!" Melanie scowled, crossing her arms. "You make no sense whatsoever. Shouldn't you be all, 'oh, now that you saw me I'll have to kill you because humans are untrustworthy?' Especially when you're talking to me? Because I'm the worst person to show that to, just to let you know."
Alex shifted back to human form. "I am gonna have to ask you to keep quiet about me… but I'm not going to kill you." he said insulted that she would suggest it. "As for me showing you, I didn't really have a choice after you saw me. And as for humans being untrustworthy? I'm half human, so you just insulted both of us." He sighed thinking, "Last thing, magicians are just illusionists. But magic is part of why I exist, and don't look like some literal half wolf half human freak."
"You really need to know when to shut up. Sadly that's hypocritical on my part. Enough said, the answer is no, I won't tell anyone. I have no one to really talk to who doesn't keep in mind of my violence issue, including my mom. So sure, as long as you don't interfere with my life, we're good. If you do, expect me to remind you of my 'fighting issue.'" Melanie started walking swiftly to her house, keeping in mind where Alex is while doing so.
Alex watched her, "Seriously?!" he called, "It's that easy to get you to keep quiet?? How do I know you won't call the authorities on me?! How do I know I won't end up running for my life again, or worse, on dissection table?!"
"I guess you'll have to take my word for it, then. Anyways, even if I do anything, you could kill me and pretty much nobody would care." Melanie walked past him, an almost smug smile on her face.
"I already swore I wouldn't hurt you! And by law of my kind I can't!" he called, "Whatever you do I can't stop you. Not by force."
"Meaning?" Melanie turned around, looking back at Alex, an eyebrow slightly raised.
"Meaning I'm bound by honor not to hurt you. Meaning I can't stop you if you tell. Meaning a lot of other things I'm sure you can guess." he said flatly.
"Honor?" Melanie snorted, stifling her laughter. "Sure, honor. I'm sorry, but that sounds unbelievable. almost as unbelievable as your magic-y self."
Alex glared at her, suddenly warping up in front of her. inches away from her face, his eyes glinting coldly. "A Wolf takes Honor very seriously. So does a warrior. I am both. I made a promise. I keep it. Even if it could mean my life."
"Hey! No doing…that! I get your point, just try not to do whatever you did again, maybe?" Melanie backed away. He could be more hostile than her if he wanted to, and it honestly scared her, but she tried not to show it.
Alex didn't move, watching as she backed away. "So…. How do I know I can trust you?"
"I-I don't know! Literally, the only person I relatively talk to is my mom, and I'm not very open-or close, for that matter-to anyone. If I tell, you have my permission to…I honestly don't know. Pretty much anything reasonable." Melanie was, for the first time in a while, intimidated.
Alex raised an eyebrow, sighing, "Someone tell me why I get myself into these messes?" he asked the trees above him. "Alright…" he looked straight into Melanie's eyes. his face a lot softer than before.

"Alright, what? Alright, I won't kill you? Or alright, let's make a deal?" Melanie was hesitant to do anything but back away, and her eyes were slightly wide, still wondering what would happen.
"Alright as in I have no choice other than to trust you and hope that intimidation actually works in my favor for once." Said Alex wryly.
"Yeah, sure," Melanie said a bit nervously. She cleared her throat, then spoke again. "I'm still gonna kill you, though." She said it as more of a dry joke than seriously.
Alex laughed, "There are people who have already tried that numerous times. So good luck following through on that."
"I can certainly try. It'd probably get me expelled again, though. I don't really have the best track record." Melanie smiled nervously, still cautious of what to do. She remained in place, but her hands weren't in fists.
"I doubt that you'd be able to touch me unless I let you. Not out here anyway." Said Alex, watching her carefully, but much more relaxed.
"Um, yeah. Am I allowed to request permission to leave, or are we just gonna do the whole cat-and-mouse thing again? Or should I just shut up and pretty much feel terrified that you'll do something?" Melanie's hands fold into one another behind her.
