A roleplay concept featuring the misadventures of the demon cat Jaakobah and his new ward!

GENRE: Fantasy/Comedy (+ potential action)

To elaborate, Jaakobah is an original character of mine. He's a young demon that was cursed by a witch and transformed into a cat. As a cat, Jaakobah (aka Jack, Jacky, Jakob, Jay, Babs) has lost all control over his demonic abilities, leaving him with a massive target on his back for the other, less forgiving witches looking for an easy familiar.

With nowhere to go, Jaakobah decides his best bet is to play up his new appearance (read: disguise) to the best of his ability. However, his decision backfires when he's forcefully adopted against his will by a well-meaning "human", who quickly begins to learn what they've gotten themselves into when he first opens his mouth.

LORE NOTES:

• Only Character B and a few select witches can understand Jaakobah at the current time.
• While in the form of a cat, Jaakobah experiences most of the urges a regular cat would (i.e. purring, kneading, weakness to shiny moving lights, etc.), which regularly war with the demon side of his brain.
• Strong emotions can still draw his magic out, but the moment he attempts to harness it like he normally would, it dissipates.
• As far as he knows, the only way to undo the curse is to either kill the witch or convince her to change him back.
• "Witch" is a gender-neutral term. Male, female, non-binary, gender-fluid—doesn't matter who you are; if you can perform spells, you're a witch!
• Witches often require familiars to grow more powerful. These familiars are enslaved demons, making them highly coveted in the witchy community.
• Familiar contracts can be formed willingly, but once it's made, there's no going back. Contracts formed willingly greatly enhance the powers of both parties, rather than just the witch, but come with far more dangerous risks. If one of them perishes, for example, the other one will soon follow.
• Subject to updates!!

CHARACTER NOTES:

• Your character must be "human"—read, believe themselves to be human. They're actually the descendant of a witch similar to the one that cursed Jaakobah, hence why they can understand him. As time passes they'll discover more and more of their powers, of which natures belonging entirely to you! Just ensure they aren't anything too overpowered, and that your character still has weaknesses that can be exploited!

GOALS:

• Jaakobah and Character B eventually form a willing contract! (More details on what this entails to come in the future!)
• Possible romance, or perhaps best-est of friends! It could go either way.
• Fun banter!

• Cursing is fine as long as it's censored and fits the context of the character or situation!
• Romantic themes are allowed or even encouraged depending on the chemistry of the characters, but at no point will anything turn sexual.

Name – Jaakobah
Age – Twenty-two
Gender/Pronouns – Cis Male, he/him
Short Introduction/Bio – Young and naïve, but exceptionally strong for a demon his age. A descendent of a distant royal line long forgotten, but nevertheless coddled and admired in his realm for his prowess. He left the demon realm shortly after his twenty-first birthday, eager to explore the mortal realm and overconfident in his abilities to defend himself from any witches. This lead to him picking a fight with one and, incidentally, becoming a cat. Luckily for him, the witch in question already had a willing familiar and wasn't looking to expand upon her collection.
Appearance – Original Art.
About 5'7" with a lean, muscular build and olive-toned skin. A thin, squared jaw and pointed ears that darken to black at the tips. His eyes are amber and slit like a cat's, even before his transformation. Atop his head is two laterally curved horns adorned with golden jewelry to indicate his status and power. This gold matches the faint freckles dotting his face and shoulders, marks he was born with.
–> Main Outfit – A semi-transparent black crop top with a felt-like splatter design to give it texture. This pattern follows him into his cat form, leaving dotted spots trailing from his chest to mid-spine. As a human, this is followed by black flowing pants that are cuffed at his heels.
Alignment & Personality – Chaotic neutral. A true free spirit who follows his whims and prioritizes his curiosity over common sense. Struggles to verbally express his feelings, but his actions are clear enough to convey them more often than not. Bit of a tsundere.
Hobbies & Interests – Loves reading, candlemaking, fashion.
Miscellaneous –

• His magic center is flame, which burns golden when he’s in control. More on this later!

Short Introduction/Bio – A new high school English teacher, leader of the school GSA and very strong advocate against bullying in his school. Is very supportive of his students and has always loved cats, but could never find the time for one. Has Viking heritage and many of his ancestors, unbeknownst to him, were witches during that era.
Appearance – Elm is tall, about 5'11", and pale, a bit sickly, and perpetually tired, skinny, and with a mop of brown hair and dull olive toned eyes. Always looking a little disheveled, but also with a kind face, faint freckles, and dimples.
–> Main Outfit – Mostly just anything that could fit into the dark academia genre, battered Oxford shoes, turtlenecks and tweed jackets with the elbow patches, often in darker more muted colors.
Alignment & Personality – Chaotic good, always ready to break the rules if it means helping people in need. Has stolen from stores to give to the homeless before and would do it again.
Hobbies & Interests – Mostly just reading and teaching, his favorite book is Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and he keeps trying to sneak it into the curriculum.
Miscellaneous – Would absolutely be an alchemist or necromancer type witch given the option.

I love him (and his style)! I think I'd like to have him as a teacher, based on his personality and taste for literature.

And we can absolutely play around with alchemy and/or necromancy as the plot develops!
