Emil doesn’t speak again, instead giving her another look over before brushing past her and moving out the door. He then stops. “Your last name, ma’am?” He questioned.
Kimberly Castle.
“Goodbye.” He turned back around and headed out the door. Emil could probably head back to his apartment momentarily to get something together. And besides, he did need to look up the name. Get a bit more information on her.
Emil arrived in his apartment sooner or later. It wasn’t that far from here. He took the elevator. He was on the 16th floor of the building.
Room 12th, floor 16. Honestly, not bad. The apartment was good quality. Maybe not for a larger family, but for one person; maybe three, if you were pushing it? Quiet and nice.
Upon entering the room, he shut the door behind him. He wouldn’t be here long. Instead, he moved to a device and brought up a screen on it; a website soon after. He typed the name ‘Kimberly Castle.’
Kimberly headed into the back rooms again and brought out her phone, checking for any text messages. Mostly ones from Niklas; but for once, there weren’t too many. Apparently a smiling emoji though, as described to by her device.
She pocketed the phone and moved over to the dishwashing stations. Her hands, grown used to the layout of the place, began to work on cleaning glasses, plates and whatnot.
Kimberly Castle.
Yup. She existed, and her appearance matched up with what he saw at the bar. Although, there wasn’t a whole lot of information on her.
Just the basics. Jobs; nothing out of the ordinary. He looked at the kaiju arena fights, and made a note to himself. Non-Link parents. There didn’t seem to be a very big family history on Links.
He pulled out of the website and went to another, this time to check when the arena fights were at. It looked like they were later in the day. Satisfied, he logged out, and prepared yet again to head to his next stop.
Washing the dishes was a generally easy task for Kimberly. Once she knew the layout of something, she had no trouble completing the task at hand.
Before she knew it, it was around the time she would be heading towards the arena. It would take a bit of time to get down there, even though she did take the train. She could also walk there, but Kimberly preferred to get there a bit earlier so she could prepare.
After checking out, she exited the bar and headed towards the train. Trains were generally on time; and this was no exception.
The rest of Emil’s day was uneventful. So when he checked the time, hoping it was accurate, he realized it was now time to go the arena. He’d been walking around the city all day today; he wasn’t far from the arena as of now. He would just be on his way.
Emil approached the arena in silence. He had to wait a bit to get in. Apparently, it was rather busy. Which, he guessed, made sense. People liked to see giant monsters rip each other apart.
So why was he going? He didn’t even know if the one he met earlier, Kimberly would be fighting.
Emil wasn’t too sure himself. Although the arena was in the list of places he needed to monitor, so that was probably why..
Upon arrival, Niklas was there to meet her. “Right on time, Kimberly,” he greeted.
“As I prefer to be.” Although her tone was serious, she gave a slight smile. “When’s my match?” She followed Niklas into the building.
“In about 15 minutes or so. That should be enough time, yes?”
“Yeah.” She felt around the walls, heading down the hallway. Niklas traced behind her.
“I’ve gotten everything ready for you, you just need to Bond and you should be good.”
With a nod of thanks, Kimberly smiled. “Thank you as always, Niklas.” Though she could not see it, the male grinned in response. “No problem!”
Kimberly entered her preparation room. The room had all her tools in it; a towel as well. But perhaps the most peculiar thing was the glass wall, which opposite to it was water. A lot of water.
Kimberly walked forwards, placing a hand against the glass. She sat down next to it.
And she waited.
After some time, Emil was able to move on into the arena. There was plenty of space in it; mostly in regards to fighting space, though. And the structure was very strong, he noted as he brushed a hand against the walls as he came past.
He got a few odd looks as he walked past other people. Emil presumed it was due to his clothing. Given that there were more people than average with criminal records here, it was understandable that they were to be wary. And as much as Emil wished to turn those people in, that wasn’t his job today. Today was just watching.
He grabbed a seat that was somewhat close to the fighting arena and sat down. There weren’t very many people around him, and most people that sat down sat away from him. It was only when all of the other seats began to fill up did a few people sit beside him, leaving a singular spot that was right beside him open.
He wasn’t bothered.
Sitting there in silence, it seemed as though Kimberly were doing nothing at all. But a few moments later, she seemed to pass out.
Though that was not the case. Maybe in her human body?
Not in this one.
Her eyes snapped open; bubbles around her as she woke up. In her Linked form, Kimberly was in the water as usual. She took a moment to stretch her muscles, then swim around a bit before making it towards the tunnel that led to the holding area for the arena. Her fight was soon.
Oh.
She could also see now.
(Made a little update to Emil’s ref.)
Emil leaned back into the chair after some time, realizing that he was going to be here for some time.
After a while, a woman moved past Emil and into the seat next to him. He paid no attention at first, until the girl turned to him and began to speak. To him.
“You’re here for the show too?”
“Yes.” He says, not turning towards her.
“Oh neat! Me too! I mean, I’m here…so you come here often?”
Oh boy. This might be a while.
Kimberly swam to the surface and upon exiting it, she was in a brand new room. Though on one wall was a big, closed door. And she could start to hear the people. Lots of people. The arena was just outside. She needed to wait for them to open the door.
She did a quick check over on her body, then began to pace around. Get used to using the Linked body.
There was suddenly a click, and Kimberly looked to the door. It wasn’t a quiet click, as she walked to stand in front of the door.
The match was starting soon. The first match of the night, anyways.
Emil had learned the woman’s name was Blossom. And Blossom was very interested in Emil. She spoke of how her friends left her to go do their own thing without saying anything, and that she was ‘terribly sad’ though she didn’t look it.
At this point Emil had zoned out, only stopping when Blossom pointed towards the arena, almost excitedly, saying “I think the match is about to start!”
Emil looked up, sitting back up instead of leaning against the chair.
The announcements were relatively simple. As the cheering picked up, the announcer began to speak. “On this first match, we have Abyju..otherwise known as Kimberly Castle..!”
Speak of the devil, Kimberly entered the arena, employing her nictitating membrane over all four eyes for the coming fight. It wasn’t too noticeable, given her membrane was clear.
She threw back her head and gave out a roar, to announce her presence. And to please the crowd; give them a good opening.
On the other end, the doors opened, but what exited was smoke. Kimberly flared her nostrils; she knew her opponent was in the smoke. There was a hissing.
“Tonight, fighting her will be a new challenger.. Suyah! The challenger has chosen to not reveal his name for the time being.”
She narrowed her eyes. A mystery challenger? Kimberly attempted to spot anything; a chance of movement or a shadow. But the smoke retained its appearance in the arena…
It seemed to push forwards, as though something were exiting from the smoke. And then she saw it. And hear it, too.
Big footprints, saurian in appearance as they leapt forwards to her. They stopped before they reached the middle of the arena, matching her movement as she paced around. The air seemed to ripple as something revealed itself - Suyah!
Suyah had grey scales. A heavily armoured face, back and limbs. No visible eyes. And upon further inspection, he seemed to have two small arms folded inwards. He gave another hiss, and Kimberly was able to spot his secondary jaws. He almost looked like something out of a horror movie.
The announcer gave a few more seconds before speaking up again.
“And we start in..three..two…”
Kimberly Castle, first match of the night.
That was her alright. Emil figured that she looked almost crocodilian or alligator like in appearance. Whatever one it was, anyways.
Multiple eyes. Not a very uncommon sight in Kaiju, but generally they kept a few of them closed to protect them in fights. Emil studied her, before turning his attention to the other side. He tilted his head upon noting the smoke.
When noticing that Abyju, or Kimberly was pacing, he linked the movement to be similar to an anxious or threatened animal. Aware that a fight would break out soon.
When something seemed to exit the smoke, though, Emil turned focus back to it. Was the kaiju invisible? He had seen invisible Kaiju..well, heard of them, before.
He leaned against the back of the chair, crossing his arms.
“Oh, he looks scary,” mumbled Blossom, referring to Suyah.
Threatening, maybe? But not scary. At least, not up here.
“One..”
The air around Suyah rippled once more as the kaiju went invisible.
“..Begin!”
In lightning fast movements, Suyah darted forwards and threw a powerful swipe at Kimberly’s side. Though it caught her by surprise, Kimberly was able to slightly move away and not take as much damage. That didn’t stop Suyah from raking the tips of his hooked claws down her side, though the wound did not bleed.
Before Suyah could dart off, Kimberly snatched the kaiju in her arms and attempted to reel the invisible kaiju towards her. It was hard when you couldn’t see your opponent. She snapped her long jaws at him, and for around 15 seconds, Suyah revealed himself with a growl, head butting her in attempt to get away.
She pressed her claws into the armoured scales to no avail, and Suyah slipped free, galloping off. It took him a few more seconds before he went invisible, but Kimberly could still see the dust kicked up from his movement.
Kimberly turned around, lowering herself. She knew not to expose her underbelly. With claws like Suyah’s, that would be a bad move.
She followed the footprints, which circled around her from a distance.
Emil watched the fight from his spot. It seemed that Suyah employed hit and run tactics, though Kimberly was fast and able to grab him. Though not for long.
He knew marches never lasted too long. He decided to continue to watch, though. See who would win.
((I understand if you don’t wanna continue this but sorry for suddenly vanishing!))
Kimberly huffed, watching Suyah circle her like a shark in the arena. She could hear him, snarling, but it sounded as though it was from all around her. Growing tired of his games, she spun herself around, flicking her tail in a fast motion and shooting out several longer and thinner scales - spikes. Of the twelve sent out only four hit Suyah, enough for her to see him, though.
Suyah scratched at himself in attempt to pick out the spikes, but crashed into the wall when Kimberly charged into him at full speed. With a brief roar, she dove down and bit into his side/underbelly. The scales down there were not as thick, and thus, ripped open as she threw her neck to the side. Her nostrils flared at the foul smelling black blood.
Too focused on Suyah, who had screeched upon her attacks, Suyah himself was able to launch a forearm forwards and strike her head, claws drawing her blue blood with ease. She threw herself back, moving away to gain distance. Suyah began to get up, suffering from a heavy stomach wound.
(It’s fine.)
Emil studied both kaiju. He noticed the different coloured blood, and made a note to see if links shared blood colour with their human. The round seemed as though it might end…from Emil’s perspective.
