Hinata took in his ex, watching him bite his bottom lip. He recognized that sweet habit, the one that always made him lean up and kiss him. He trembled before he felt the tears fall. "Y-yeah." He hiccuped. "It's great seeing you again." He whispered, his voice going hoarse.
Love Shot (O/O)
Damien’s lips parted when he saw the tears leaking from Hinata’s eyes to fall onto his cheeks. The sight absolutely made his heart break all over again. “I’m sorry, please-.. don’t cry, ang-“ he started but cut himself off. ‘Angel’ had been his sweet nickname for Hinata. It was completely out of habit.
Hinata sniffled. He had always been sensitive, crying at the smallest mention of his weaknesses, or anything really. He wanted to be held again. He wanted to be kissed again. And not just by anyone. He wanted Damien again. When he heard the gentle nickname almost be uttered from Damien's lips he only whimpered, the tears falling faster. "I-I'm so sorry." He whispered, his voice cracking. "I was an idiot." He sobbed.
Damien wasn’t sure how far he could go with consoling his ex. He wasn’t sure about any boundaries Hinata had put up between them. So he hesitantly held out his arms and wrapped them around Hinata’s frame, tugging him lightly against his chest. He held him in loose enough of a grip that he could pull away if needed. “Don’t apologize Hinata, you didn’t do a single thing wrong,” he soothed softly.
Hinata was a sobbing mess, his eyes watering as he tried furiously to wipe them away. He starts when he's grabbed by Damien but he leans into the other, shaking and quivering. He wrapped his arms around the other, sniffing as he's held. God- he was such a crybaby. "B-but obviously I did something… You left…" He whispered, clutching to the other as if he were his life line.
Damien didn’t mind Hinata’s crying. He’d never judged the boy for it. He’d admired that Hinata was able to express his emotions so freely. “That was my fault, Hinata. Listen to me, ok?” he said gently, tilting his ex’s face up to meet his gaze. “It wasn’t your fault. I made the stupid choice to walk away. You were too good for me. Way too good. I walked away from that. Please don’t blame yourself.”
Hinata hated that he was so weak. That he cried all the damn time. Damien had been the only one who was kind to him, who made him feel like it wasn't his fault he cried so much. He was still crying when the other tilted his face up. "B-but you left… You walked away…" he whimpered. "You didn't want me anymore… What else could I do but blame myself…?" He sobbed. He was torn to shreds when Damien walked away from him, it left him alone, empty and weak. He could barely pull himself together as he worked, he barely functioned as a human when Damien left.
Damien gently did his best to brush Hinata’s tears away with his thumbs, something he’d always done when they were together. “That was my mistake, Hinata, not yours. You were hurt from me and I didn’t think you’d be happy around me anymore. That you’d be much better off without me,” he said in a soft murmur. Since he walked away, he’d grown irritable and dissociated, pushing companions away and doing mindless work to keep as strong as he was able to.
Hinata leaned into the familiar touch, aching for what they had once. He sniffled, his eyes shutting. "I wanted you…" He whispered, his voice cracking and breaking. "You were everything to me… You made me happy…" He whimpered. "When you left… Oh god it was like something was ripped out of me." He clung to Damien, wanting nothing more then to have what they had back then. "I was never better off without you… You were everything to me." He whispers, sounding broken and hurt.
Hinata’s words seemed to break Damien’s seemingly calm and controlled manner. This was one of the first times that he’d actually felt something real since he had walked out. He clutched Hinata back to his chest, his steady voice breaking a bit on his words as he spoke. “I’m so sorry, Hinata- I’m so sorry. I never meant to hurt you like that, I would never intentionally hurt you like that.”
Hinata clung to him, his arms wrapped around his back, his face buried into his shoulders. He was racked by sobs, they tore through his body making him hiccup a little. He didn't want to leave Damien's grasps, but he knew… He knew it would have to end. Damien would leave again and gosh- Hinata wasn't sure if he could ever build himself back up from this.
Damien released a trembling breath as he tried his hardest to hold himself together. He blinked to clear his eyes of the tears that had began to well up. “How about we talk about this more at my place? I know you have to be freezing, Hinata,” he spoke gently, giving the male’s back a little rub with his hand. He’d done that at times. When Hinata was upset or just trying to fall asleep, he’d rub and scratch his back.
Hinata shivered, reminded of the cold that hit at his fingers and skin, scratching his cheeks raw, and snowflakes adorning his lashes. He nods slowly. "Yes… Okay…" He whispers, leaning into the gentle touch. He loved it when Damien scratched or rubbed his back. It always soothed him. He could tell the other was slowly breaking down, but he didn't want to say anything. Instead he silently followed.
Damien nodded his head a little and decided he would keep one arm around Hinata as they walked. His ex was like the most amazing drug, one touch and he was completely hooked. He took Hinata back to his apartment and when he arrived, he unlocked the door with his keys and let the male inside, following him inside. “Do you want anything to eat or drink?” he offered softly.
Hinata leaned into him, his eyes shutting as he burrowed into his jacket. He loved Damien still, he was up all night thinking about him when he couldn't sleep. He wondered if the other ever thought about him any more. Damien was someone he didn't want to give up. He couldn't give Damien up if he wanted to. He looked up at the apartment and looked down a little. He moved out of the apartment and bought his own. He sighed once the warm air hit him, looking blissful. "No, thank you." He mutters, his voice still sore and his nose runny.
Damien hadn't slept well either. He'd been so used to having Hinata sleep next to him. He’d felt cold and the room was too quiet. He nodded when he was answered and led Hinata to the couch, one they had lounged on together countless times. He had taken his hood off and was now running his fingers through his thick mess of blonde curls. He looked over at Hinata, not sure what to say really. “What happened to us?” He asked softly.
Hinata looks around the apartment. It was still the same as he had left it, and he felt a pang in his heart. He carefully took his jacket off, placing it carefully on the hooks on the door. He missed being in the apartment. He missed being with Damien. He looked over at the other, yearning to run his hands through those soft curly locks. He curled up on the couch. He looked up when the other spoke and sighed, running a hand through his own rusty brown hair." I…I don't know… I thought you didn't want me anymore…" He whispers.
Damien draped one of his arms around the back of the couch and exhaled softly as he looked over at Hinata. “That wasn’t it at all,” he said in a soft tone. “I could never not want you.” He tilted his head back and rubbed his hand over his face slowly. His knee bounced a little as he tilted his head back.
Hinata stayed where he was, curled in on himself as he looked at the other. "Then… Then why… Why did you leave?" He asks quietly, resting his head on his knees. He didn't understand. Only submitted when the other proposed a breakup. He sniffled softly, trying not to cry again.
Damien exhaled softly. There was no completely good answer for this. He chewed on his bottom lip once again. “You’re perfect, Hinata. I don’t think that I deserve perfect,” he said with a soft, sad little smile. “I didn’t want to ruin something so perfect.”
Hinata whimpered. He was far from perfect like the other said. He was far from what Damien thought he was. He gazed at the other, his eyes watery. "Then why… Did you ever think about what that would do to me?" He whispers. "Did you ever think about how shattered and destroyed I became after you left?" He whispers, his voice shaky, his tears falling again. "You were everything to me." He whimpered.
Damien exhaled shakily as he listened to his ex’s sensitive words. That was the thing. He wasn’t thinking. He had his mind set on this idea that he could only hurt Hinata, and in leaving him, he did just what he was trying to avoid. He didn’t answer, and shut his eyes for a moment, collecting himself. “I never wanted to see you like this.”
Hinata, after the breakup, stopped working for a full week, using saved up vacation time to just stay at home and mope. When he went back to work he became quiet, reserved. He wasn't as happy as he used to be. He tried everything to stay happy, but it was no such luck. He rests his head on his knees. "So why." He voice shook.
Damien licked his lips as he thought about the broken statement. “I never thought that I would cause this much hurt. I thought I was doing the right thing, but it turned out broken like this,” he said softly in reply, keeping his eyes shut as he continued to speak.
Hinata glanced at him, running furiously at his tears. He was still crying, still wanting to be with Damien. But he held himself back. He wanted to beg Damien to let him back into his life. To be back in his arms. To be back in this apartment. But he knew in his heart that his dream to be back with Damien was far from likely. He kept quiet, listening to Damien's side of the story.
“I just didn’t think. I should have put a lot more thought into what I was going to do, but I didn’t. I obviously can’t take that back now,” Damien said, trailing off in a thoughtful manner as he went back to chewing on his bottom lip and messing with his curls.
Hinata bit his bottom lip before the words came tumbling out faster then he could think. "You can." He whispers. "You can…" He curled in on himself. He as willing to try again. But he was scared. What if Damien laughed at him?
Damien looked over at Hinata when he spoke again. He can? “What are you trying to say, Hinata?” He questioned in a pressing manner. He had his thoughts on what the boy meant, but he had to be sure. He didn’t want to get his hopes up with this.
Hinata took a trembling breath. He wanted to be sure about this. "Take it back… We can…" He whispers softly. "We can try again." Hinata looks at his knees. "Unless you don't want to- that's fine too I'm probably muttering again…" He whispers as he curls in even more.
Damien seemed visibly surprised when Hinata brought up trying to go out together again. He was speechless, but in a good way. He’d wanted nothing more than to fix his mistakes and have his angel back in his life, and it was actually happening. “No- I’d really like to try again, actually,” he said with a breathless tone.
