Veronica shyly slipped in the classroom, not daring make eye contact with the teacher as she sat down. She was sure the teacher was glaring disdainfully at her, but tried her best to ignore the sting of shame. She quickly got out a pencil, a little quirk she had that she always needed a pencil in her hand when class started, just for comfort.

@blue_topaz

Elaine sat down in her usual spot, next to Veronica and behind Griffin (I could post a brief description of him, could he be part of their friend group?), reaching over to squeeze Veronica's hand comfortingly.

(Yeah, totally :D I can post a small description of some other characters of their friend group too… Do you want to add more characters (other than Griffin) to their friend group? (I’ll subtract some of my characters) just so I’m not rping almost all of them lol)
Veronica didn’t know what to think about holding hands with Elaine, only that she liked it and didn’t want to let go just yet. Elaine’s hand was warm and soft, and just that little gesture calmed some of her nerves.

@blue_topaz

(Sure, if that’s okay with you. Do you want me to add a guy or girl other than griffin?)

Elaine’s thumb rubbed gentle, soothing circles into the palm of Veronica’s hand. She could tell then her friend was nervous, and did her best to calm her.

(how about a girl, and I can make Olivia and Ben so it’s even :)

@blue_topaz

(sure! uh okay

Griffin is ridiculously tall, has a head of curly bronzey-blond hair that's trimmed shorter at the sides and back. He's got hazel eyes, fair skin with a rosy undertone, and is sorta gangly. He's an ambivert, can get easily flustered, has literally no self-esteem, is extremely loyal, and also straight. He's sort a smol and squishy but can also crack jokes and laugh around a lot.

Estella is 5 foot seven, has dark brown hair, tan skin, and golden-brown eyes. She's Latina, is fluent in Spanish and has a slight accent, and has an extremely fiery personality. She will give you hell if you anger her, (she's easily angered) and is extremely protective. Extroverted, a joker, great at cheering people up.

are they okay? I can change the format if you want)

Olivia,

(I think I’ll make her Veronica’s cousin just to add a little something… Has waist long brown hair, brown eyes, 5’2”, typically optimistic. She isn’t exactly a homophobe, but isn’t exactly super supportive either. She’s an artist, generally a peacekeeper)

Ben,

(Blonde fohawk, glasses, blue-grey eyes, 5’9”, mesomorph, quiet. Most of the time he has a book in his hand and is fairly introverted. Typically a B- student, he could care less about your sexuality and gender, he himself is aromantic. Though most of the time he is quiet and introverted, if you harm any of his close friends he will not hesistate to get angry and physically aggressive.)

Elaine’s thumb rubbed gentle, soothing circles into the palm of Veronica’s hand. She could tell then her friend was nervous, and did her best to calm her.

Veronica found herself leaning a little closer to Elaine, but she forced herself to stay planted a friend-distance away. What am I doing…? The teacher droned on about something Veronica found she had trouble focusing on, something about yet another essay they needed to start working on.

@blue_topaz

Elaine felt heat rising to her cheeks and forced herself to stay cool. No, she told herself firmly, You are not going to crush on your friend. You are not going to mess up your friendship. Still, she kept hold of Veronica's hand. She didn't know why, but she hadn't told anyone when she'd figured out her sexuality to be lesbian about a year ago, not even Veronica, who she was closest to. She just.. hadn't wanted to make things awkward. But here she was, holding her hand. And not letting go.

“…and why don’t you get started on group work for the essay on Romeo and Juliet, a intro and conclusion drafts are due tomorrow. Get to work.” The teacher finished up, leaving the class to figure out what to do.
And Veronica finally realized just how long she had been holding Elaine’s hand, blushing slightly as she pulled away to pull out her school issued iPad, “So…” Veronica trailed off, looking at Elaine and glancing at Griffin. She was glad she had friends in this class, at least, just because she could trust them and count on them- especially Elaine.

@blue_topaz

Elaine grinned, feeling something flutter in her stomach. “Partners? Or is it an individual project? I sort of zoned out…” In truth, she had been completely occupied with massaging Veronica’s hand. Griffin turned around to face him, a lopsided grin on his face. “Lost in fantasies of whoever your mystery crush is?” he teased relentlessly, causing Elaine to blush lightly, though no one could easily tell through her dark skin.

Veronica ignored the feeling of her heart sinking slightly at the mention of Elaine having a crush. It’s not like I like her… Why should I be sad about it? “It’s a group essay, on Romeo and Juliet,” Veronica explained with a small smile at Elaine, opening up a google document they could share, “The conclusion and introduction are due tomorrow, I think.”

@blue_topaz

Elaine shot Griffin a look. “Want to work together?” she asked Veronica. “You could come over to my house after school to work on it.” Griffin made a pouty face, leaning his elbows on the desk. “Fine, I guess I’ll find my own partner,” he joked good-naturedly, standing up.

Veronica felt a small tingle in her chest, smiling at Elaine, “Yeah, definitely,” Veronica found herself missing Elaine’s hand in hers, but forced herself to grab her iPad and share the document with her, “So I guess we have to figure out a thesis…”

@blue_topaz

"Yeah.." Elaine sighed, scooting closer to Veronica so that she had a better view of the iPad. "I left mine at home, mind if we shared screens just for today?" She even went the extra stretch to rest her chin lightly on the other girl's shoulder– so that she could see the screen, of course.

“Of course,” Veronica said with a smile, secretly savoring the fact that Elaine was so close to her. She typed a header for their essay and their names below it. She was never a fan of essays, she was terrible at writing them too, but she found herself liking this one. Veronica tried to lie to herself that it wasn’t because of Elaine.

@blue_topaz

(do you want to skip or stay? I'm sort of running out of ideas, what specifically is the essay about? just analysing Romeo and Juliet?)

person_off

(Yeah, I figured we could skip I wasn’t sure if you wanted to add anything lol, maybe to lunch or after school?
Also the essay was just about themes of Romeo and Juliet, honestly I’m not creative rn lol)

@blue_topaz

(lol it's fine, and could we do after school?)

(Yeah, sure :)

@blue_topaz

(awesome)

Elaine put in the combination to her locker for maybe the fifth time, growling in frustration when the lock stuck, again. After a few more tries, she finally got it open, slipping her binders into her back as quickly as she could.

Veronica sluggishly opened her locker, getting her binders into organized and shoved into her backpack just so that they would all fit. The essay, more french homework, AP world history reading… The list of things she needed to do tonight seemed endless. She slung the heavy backpack over her shoulder, taking a deep breath and forcing herself to keep going.

@blue_topaz

Elaine shut her locker door, eyes traveling over the crowds in the hallway until they found Veronica. "Veronica!" she called, slipping in between two seniors to get to her friend. "You ready to go?"

“Yeah…” Veronica sighed, trying to keep her mental strength up despite how much she wanted to curl up somewhere and get some rest, to wipe away the stress from her life. She made a tired smile anyways, “Today was… long…”

@blue_topaz

"Aw." Elaine pulled her out of the crowd and hugged her tightly. "As soon as we get home, we can just.. relax." She could tell how hard her friend was trying to hold herself together.

Veronica wrapped her arms tightly around Elaine, immensely grateful for her friend’s presence in this very moment. Just get home, just get home… Veronica pulled away to nod finally, “Yeah, let’s hurry,” She said with a small laugh, almost going to grab Elaine’s hand but stopped herself. What am I doing? We’re just… friends…

@blue_topaz

Elaine hesitated a full second before grabbing hold of Veronica’s hand herself. What are you doing??? She ignored the thought and pulled Veronica through the crowded hallways and put onto the field.
