If Markus could capture this moment in a photo, just to keep it with him at all times, he would. His eyes hadn't even made it to the view yet, entirely focused on the boy who outshone every star in the sky in front of him. The boy holding his wrist. Holding onto him and seeming to forget he was. Eventually, he pulled his gaze away slowly, struggling to keep from looking back at Nikolas until he caught sight of the lake.

"Holy shit. It's like a paintin'." He murmured, taking half a step closer to the balcony, smiling. "Never seen anythin' quite like it." A lie, but he was still having his issues admitting it.

"It's beautiful," Nikolas murmured, taking half a step closer to Markus as he let go of him to lean his forearms against the railing, his body leaning towards the boy next to him. His eyes never left the sky and its reflection, though he was more aware of Markus now than before. His lips were turned up in a soft and happy smile, perfectly content with where he was—and with who.

Markus leaned just a bit towards Nikolas as well, arm almost but not quite brushing the other boy's shoulder. "It is." He agreed softly, hands slipping into his hoodie pocket now that his hand was free. "God, I really can' stay here, or I'd never leave. Spend all night out here lookin' at the stars."

Nikolas grinned and looked over at Markus. He was glad he had brought him here, to show him this window into his life. "Well, you're crashing here for tonight. No complaints," he said while he leaned in some more, pressing his shoulder against Markus's arm. He spoke quietly, as if afraid of disturbing the peacefulness of the night around them.

@croccin-champagne

Markus glanced at Nikolas as he pressed against him, cheeks warming slightly. "I ain't complainin'. Just admittin' t' the fact that now you're never gonna get me t' leave." He joked lightly, voice still just as soft as Nikolas'. Anything louder would ruin the atmosphere, he was fairly certain. Cut through the quiet with an obnoxious knife of sound.

Nikolas chuckled softly and looked away, leaning back so he could rest his chin on his arms. "No complaints here," he whispered, eyes on the lake again. He couldn't tear his gaze away from that beautiful mirror that perfectly captured the painted sky. He didn't move away from Markus, either. It was a small gesture of his attraction, hinting at it while also gauging Markus's reaction to it.

Markus watched Nikolas for a moment longer, half out of surprise and half…what one could really only call soft admiration. He huffed a laugh, shaking his head as he looked back up at the night sky. He didn't move away from Nikolas. "You'll change your mind right quick, I'll promise ya that."

"Doubtful." Nikolas looked over at Markus with a half-smile. "I'm a street kid, after all. Persistent company is better than none." After staring up at the sky for a few more seconds, Nikolas sucked in a breath and stood up straight, tapping his knuckles against the railing. "I'll be inside," he murmured, then turned to go back into the bedroom.

@croccin-champagne

"A'ight. I'll be in in a second." Markus said, nodding. He didn't get peace like this, often or ever, so he wanted to enjoy it for just a minute longer. The stars were so pretty. He really did see why Nikolas loved them so much, and maybe it would be worth reading a bit about. Sighing softly, he hummed a soft tune as he watched the stars for a little bit longer before heading inside as well.

Nikolas had sat down on the king-sized bed, tank top taken off because it was bothering his nearly-healed and itchy tattoos, jeans swapped out for black sweatpants, and reading a book based on Greek mythology. He hadn't gotten to it when he had bought it a while ago, simply stashed it here in the less educational bookshelf and let it sit. But now he had a little bit of time to start it, and he was a little too focused on it to notice Markus coming back inside.

@croccin-champagne

Markus paused when he stepped back in, blinking in surprise at the sight of Nikolas, once again topless. Instead of getting his attention, he did the same thing he had earlier, watching him read for a moment. Catching him in his own world was something else. People always looked different while reading, especially once absorbed into whatever it was they were reading.

It took him a bit, but soon enough Nikolas felt eyes on him. He lifted his gaze up and found Markus watching him, but he didn't react. He simply stared up at him, as if waiting to see what the other male would do. Nikolas remained hunched over his book, hair tousled from him changing and partially in his face, though he didn't bother to fix it.

@croccin-champagne

Markus shook his head slightly, motioning to Nikolas and the book he was reading, before rubbing the back of his neck. "Sorry. You uh-looked so into your readin', I didn't wanna disturb ya or somethin'." He paused for a moment, before arching a brow as he shifted further into the room slightly. "What-whatcha readin'?"

Nikolas tipped his head to the side, silently examining Markus, before ignoring the question and putting the book off to the side. He shifted slightly, sitting up straighter and on his knees and curled his finger towards himself, a small half-smile on his lips. "C'mere," he murmured. He didn't want to dance around it anymore, at least for the most part. He was dying to see what Markus would do if presented an opportunity like this.

@croccin-champagne

Markus' eyes widened slightly, brows furrowing as though he was confused and slightly skeptical. Like he wasn't quite sure if Nikolas was messing with him or not. And what if you never get this chance again? Whatever this chance is, exactly. Hesitantly, he stepped forward, and then closed the distance between himself and the bed, looking down at Nikolas with an eyebrow raised as he sat down on the edge of the bed. What are you playing at?

Nikolas slightly pouted when Markus only sat at the edge of the bed, though it was understandable. He moved closer and grabbed the sides of the male's shirt, tugging him closer and further onto the bed. Nikolas kept himself close while he did that, eyes scanning Markus's face slowly as if paying greater attention to the details. He knew that Markus wouldn't be the one to make the first move, and Nikolas was more than happy to take up that job.

@croccin-champagne

One minute, Markus was sitting a small distance from Nikolas, and the next, he was being tugged closer, suddenly lacking that safe distance. He was in uncharted territory now, his feelings and the way his heart was picking up speed all new and unfamiliar to him. His eyes flickered from Nikolas' features to his eyes and back and forth, before staying there, waiting with bated breath. It was Nikolas' move. A move Markus couldn't make yet. It was up to Nikolas, and somehow, he found himself hoping Nikolas made the right move.

Nikolas kept his grip on Markus's shirt, holding the male close while he continued to study his face. He took a little bit to make sure that Markus wasn't going to run away before he stood up on his knees, one hand coming up to touch his fingers to Markus's chin. His eyes were somewhat hooded as he gazed down, their lips mere inches apart. He feared the backlash of actually kissing the boy, so as he leaned in, he veered off at the last moment. He didn't leave again, however. This time, he brushed his lips against the sensitive skin just beneath the male's ear.

@croccin-champagne

He did it again. He veered off last minute. And for the second time, Markus simultaneously wanted to die and to throttle Nikolas.

That was right before the other boy's lips found his neck. Markus stilled completely then, inhaling sharply in surprise and…something else. Head still tilted up slightly, from when he'd been looking up at Nikolas, he was almost afraid to move. Not fear, but more not wanting to move Nikolas. Whatever this was, he was almost enjoying it. His hands moved, one gripping his own knee, and the other finding Nikolas' elbow, fingers hooking loosely around it just to hold onto him. Maybe to let him know he wasn't opposed to this.

Nikolas paused, letting Markus decide if he was fine or not. When he felt Markus still and heard him inhale, he almost pulled away. However, he felt fingers wrapping around his elbow, and Markus didn't leave. Nikolas took that as a good sign. His hand slid up the male's jaw, though not far, and he lightly pressed a kiss to Markus's neck. He was still cautious in his actions, even if he was being a bit bold and putting the other male out of his comfort zone. But he wanted this, he liked this. He liked having Markus close to him, liked the feeling of his skin beneath Nikolas's skin. But what about Markus?

@croccin-champagne

Markus wasn't sure what he was feeling. Just that it definitely wasn't bad. His heart felt close to exploding, and he was very entirely aware of everything to do with Nikolas, from his lips on his neck to the feeling of his skin under his fingers, to how close he was. He shuddered just slightly, not quite sure if there was a specific code of conduct for this type of thing. Nikolas seemed to know what he was doing, though.

However much Nikolas wanted to get closer to Markus, to actually kiss him and feel those lips, he refrained from that. Besides, if he was to get closer, he might as well sit on the boy's lap, seeing how Nikolas was the smaller one of the two. After a moment and a few light kisses later, he pulled back to examine Markus's face, eyes wary but slightly hopeful.

@croccin-champagne

Markus took in a few shaky breaths, still sort of minorly dying, his eyes never leaving Nikolas' face. That was a step forward. "I-uh…huh." Was all he could seem to manage by way of words, still holding onto the other boy. The corner of his mouth flickered up just slightly, and he seemed in no hurry to move away.

@ElderGod-kirky group

Nikolas's lips twitched up at that, happy that Markus wasn't trying to push him away. In fact, he was still holding onto him, seemingly not wanting him to go away just yet. "Use your words, Markus," he said lowly, arms slowly moving to loosely drape around the boy's neck. He didn't move from where he was, neither away nor closer. This was up to Markus.

@croccin-champagne

Markus rolled his eyes at that, though Nikolas draping his arms over his shoulders made his heart do somersaults. He tried, for a few moments, to use his words. But nothing seemed quite right, like he wasn't sure what to say, or how to say it, or even how to get the words past the tip of his tongue. So instead, he let go of Nikolas' elbow, wrapping his arms around the other boy and tugging him into his lap. "Cuddle?"

Nikolas's eyes gleamed as Markus tugged him onto his lap. A surprised smile bloomed over his lips as he settled himself, his knees pressed into the mattress on either side of the boy. "There's a word," he whispered, eyes flicking over Markus's face before he hesitantly pressed his forehead against the other male's. His arms wrapped a little tighter around Markus's neck, holding him close. They had privacy, they had quiet. It was like this place gave them both the courage to give in to each other. This was fine, this wasn't official.

@croccin-champagne

Markus huffed a small laugh, fully okay with being this close to Nikolas. It felt different out here. With the world at peace around them, he couldn't help feeling at peace too, everything that made him so hesitant anywhere else sort of in the background now. "Cardiovascular." He said, eyes sparkling playfully as he pulled his head back just a tiny bit, so he could gently bump his forehead against Nikolas', before returning it to resting against his.

Nikolas huffed a small laugh, his eyes sparkling. "And there's another. So smart." Nikolas liked this, liked their close proximity. Their faces were so close, but Nikolas wouldn't flee again. He'd stay right here, savoring the feeling of Markus's arms wrapped around his bare torso, enjoying being in the other male's lap. He wasn't usually in this position, seeing how he was almost always the tallest one, but he liked this.

@croccin-champagne

It was almost funny, how well Nikolas fit against him, in his lap and just in general. That would probably be the soulmate thing… Maybe so, but it was still nice. Nikolas' laugh brought a stronger smile to Markus' lips, along with that feeling of accomplishment every time he did so. "Combustion, humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa, apple, optometry. That's more words."

Nikolas decided to join in on the little game they had. "Λέξη." (Léxi) He grinned and fit his head in the crook of Markus' neck. Each breath he took let him breathe in the boy's unique scent. He didn't plant anymore kisses, afraid that would spook Markus and ruin the quiet moment. But he was content with where they were right now, happy with how their rocky past didn't hinder this.
