It's those hours again. Anyways I just need some proper angst and I like Selkies so here goes:

A young Selkie is abandoned by their family, just in time for a concerned human to come pick them up from the shore wearing nothing but their coat over their shoulders, Anyways that's it that's the plot I just need that tasty tasty found family. Rules are no smut, don't be an ass, no short replies (medium to long is fine) and have fun!

Alright, well I'm feeling lazy today so I'll just post a starter and we can begin!

Leu didn't know what was happening. One minute, they were swimming happy and free in the cool, frosty water that to anyone but them would have been biting cold, the next they were lost, away from their family and unsure of where to go next. They swam back to where they'd come from, back to their home, but nothing. It was empty. "Mama? Papa? Where are you?" they cried, letting out a bark and a whine as they searched for their parents. But alas, nothing. They swam with all their might, trying to find something, anything, but the poor little seal was alone. The home was deserted, left exactly as it was when they left it, but without their parents. So they did what any reasonable child would do-they ran away, tears stinging their dark eyes as they swam as fast as they could away from this place.

also yes i know that reply was shitty I swear I'll get better. Most of my early replies are go girl give us nothing so fear not it does get better.

The selkie swam through the cold, cold water, feeling sick to their stomach. They burst through the surface, coat flying off as they scrambled onto the end of the shore through broken fishing nets and heaps of trash. They clutched at their coat, wrapping it around their shoulders for warmth. They had only taken their coat off once before, and it hurt just as much as it had before, it was like ripping their skin off. Mama said it would grow to hurt less with age, but Mama wasn't here anymore, was she? Leu stumbled onto the sand, long black hair falling into their eyes and cold seeping into their flesh very quickly.

A fishing net was tangled around their legs, and they hobbled to the end of the beach before collapsing with exhaustion. This was so tiresome, and their little body couldn’t handle the strain. To a stranger, they looked to be about eight or nine, and that was roughly their age as far as they could tell. They looked up to the stranger in the distance, then fell to the ground from exhaustion, fully sinking into the sand as their long coat billowed around their fragile body.

Leu nodded, too tired to do much else. They trusted everyone they met despite their parent’s warnings about surface dwellers, and they trusted this one too. They had no reason not to, after all. They huddled up underneath their coat, curling into a tight little ball with the warm leather soft against their tiny hands. They looked up at the stranger, and shivered slightly.

Leu grabbed at their coat, huddling into it. The coat was soft, impossibly heavy, and still with a pulsing warmth that was all too strange to ignore. They couldn't leave their coat, they couldn't loose sight of it no matter what. Leu knew what happened to selkies who lost their coats, they got taken away and never returned home. Leu wouldn't let that happen, would resist it if at all possible.
