"He's not even here," Eros said, an air of boredom about him. "Didn't you hear? He actually skipped a party."
Never Bet on Chaos
Kali hummed thoughtfully, turning her gaze up to meet Eros's, eyes startlingly sharp. "Should've skipped when you had the chance. Maybe next time I'll throw my own party at the same time."
Eros grinned feraly. "Good idea. I'm sure the god of parties would live to come." He turned. "Hey Zeus!" He called. "This party sucks!"
Kali's eyebrows shot up in amusement, and she could almost hear her mother's laughter in her ear. "Where's the fireworks?" She called, pushing off the wall.
Zeus's face flushed. Everyone was staring at him now, and there was some muttering. Eros smirked, sauntering over to the god. He was waiting for the moment when he broke.
A fight was probably the most interesting thing that would happen at this party, and Kali could never resist discord. Her bloodline, she supposed. She inched a bit closer, watching as Zeus turned redder and redder.
A bolt of lightning exploded right next to Eros, and he clucked his tongue. "Temper, Highness, temper."
"C'mon Sparky, no need t' get all grumpy." Kali's speech patterns switched a bit, taking on a definite more mortal resemblance as she stepped forward, eyes lit up wickedly.
Zeus's beard crackled. A storm started to gather, and Eros grinned. Finally, entertainment.
It was a wonder Zeus had even invited her, when he knew exactly who her mother was, and what that meant for his parties. Oh well. She stuck her hands in her pockets, rocking on her heels as she grinned. "So scary. I'm shaking in my sandals."
Eros smirked at her. "You look like it." He winked at a passing goddess. Zeus looked so angry Eros was surprised that he hadn't blown something up yet.
Most of the other gods and party guests had lost interest in the idea of another one of Zeus's blow ups. Kali quirked an eyebrow at Eros's smirk, and turned away with a sigh. "I wonder if Hera's willing to ditch this party with me." One last button push.
Zeus flushed red. Lightning started raining down on the guests, and rain poured down. Eros grinned. "Wow, Zeusy, you are really bad at holding our temper."
"That water-proof setting spray was absolutely worth the buy." Kali mused, tapping her cheek and pulling away a clean finger. "That sales guy was right."
((Bumpity bump bump))
(Sorry.)
Eros laughed. He poked Zeus's cheek, ignoring the shock that came from it. Hera was watching, an amused look on her face.
Suddenly switching back to the sweeter, more polite personality, Kali gave a wave, smiling sweetly. "Well, this was fun, but I really should be excusing myself now. Duty calls."
Eros ignored her. He glared at the king of the gods. Finally, he shrugged. "I still don't get him."
Kali hummed as she turned, slipping off through the throngs of people. Maybe she'd find a diner, or somewhere with half decent food.
Eros teleported away, satisfied.
((Skip to some other run in?))
(Sure!)
Kali fiddled with one of the feathers in her hair as she waited for her coffee. It had been a spur of the moment decision to even go for coffee, but she'd had enough of the library.
Eros sauntered in. He wanted something to drink, he was tired of ambrosia, and mortals made great drink. He walked to the counter, to order something.
Kali's attention was drawn to the god she'd found a companion in at the party. It had been about a week since then, and she'd not purposefully avoided godly interactions, she'd just been busy. As such, she hadn't seen him since. She perked up when her name was called, bouncing over to the counter to get her coffee.
Eros spotted the demigod from last night. He sent her a nod and continued to flirt with the barista.
Kali shot him her usual bright smile, taking a sip of her drink as she flitted over to a table. She sat down at the small two-person table, pulling out the book she'd been trying to finish.
"Can I have your number?" The barista asked. Eros laughed. "No, sorry, sweetheart."
Kali snorted as she overheard Eros's conversation, feeling just a bit bad for the barista. It wasn't her fault she was flirting with the not-very-romantic god of love.
Eros winked at the woman before walking away. The poor barista was so flustered that she didn't realize that he hadn't payed.
