Brent looked Nathan straight in the eyes. "It's better to get it ruined now before you become an adult and everything comes crashing down on you and destroying your hopes and dreams."
"Who hurt you?" Nathan laid a hand on his shoulder.
"Math." He sighed, pointing to the papers. "I don't want to be a physics teacher. I barely passed my own physics class."
"Then why are you teaching physics?!" Nathan shook his head at him. He offered him some of his fries
"It was the only teaching positon open." Brant shrugged. "And gods know I could use the money from working at a school like this."
Nathan nodded his head quietly. He drew his knees to his chest
"Alright, let's get off this subject." Brent coughed. "So any questions?"
"About what? The work? I'm still confused." Nathan chuckled.
Brent sighed and explained it in simpler terms.
"Okay. I might pass then. Or at least get higher than a fifty." Nathan grinned at him
"Don't get your hopes up." Brent laughed. "I can't perform miracles."
Nathan gave him a small smile. "Yeah you can. I'm just a lost cause."
Brent stood up and gathered his papers. "Alrighty, I'll see you on monday-"
Nathan looked up at him. "What? You're leaving already?" His face fell
"Yeah, you seem to have a pretty good grip on the curriculum." He shrugged, raising an eyebrow.
"But do I really?" Nathan whined. He didn't want Mr. Michelson to go yet. Not yet. "I think I still need some help. Unless you have somewhere to be." He niddbled his lip and looked at the ground
"What do you need help with?" Brent cocked his head and sighed, sitting back down.
Nathan was quiet for a minute. "So I-I like this person, but I don't think he likes me back. Not to mention I shouldn't like him…" He trailed off.
"Well first off, I shouldn't be the one you talk to about this." He patted the other's shoulder.
"Who am I going to talk too about it?" Nathan asked. "Not my mom. My friends would just tease me."
Brent laughed a bit. "Well, I'm not good with crushes. But, I'll try and help. What's up?"
Nathan sighed. "I like this person. He's older. I don't think he likes me either. And it's not…its just…ugh." He put his head in his hands
"Oof." His lips pursed. "Hmm, is it one of your teachers?"
"That's illegal." Nathan didnt confirm or deny it. He started picking at the grass
"Just because it's technically illegal doesn't mean people don't still do it." Brent shrugged.
"Aren't you supposed to be discouraging me from this?" Nathan sakd
"I'm pretty much a therapist for the teachers, so I am dead inside at this point."
"That doesnt answe my question." Nathan was looking at him now
Brent leaned his head against the tree. "Probably should be discouraging you, but whatever."
Nathan moved next to him. "So….what should i do?"
