The cities are guarded under large shields that prevents anything from outside getting in. On the contrary, you also cannot leave the city itself, unless:
Otherwise, you live your life in the city and that is that.
Outside of the bubbles, though, is a world similar to ours. But when hail rushes over the area, that’s you’re sign to leave the area. The Vultures, beings that travel with the hail are a predatory species, and once the hail and fog clears, the Vultures hunt. Hunts last only 3 minutes, but are devastating either way.
Some people live outside of the cities. But there are two types of people living outside.
Type one is simple enough. With type two, you get people who’ve gone mad from the Vultures. No one knows what happened to them, and no one knows how to find out either. The Fledglings, the ones contaminated by the Vultures stalk after normal people, using them as a means of sacrifice to the Vultures. One day, they hope that they can get into the cities too. But that seems it may just be a dream.
