"I don't care if it's used for the law or not!" said Skye flatly, "Your thoughts should be your own, besides having powers like mine, I can do more than just read your thoughts, that is if I wanted to or knew how to begin with."
"Have you ever bothered to try and train your mind to cope with your powers? That's the only way I figured out mine. It took weeks to master, but I finally got it down." She mumbled, rubbing her face.

"Last time I tried I almost got caught… it's why I have the band…" he said with a sigh.
An idea came to her, and she cringed at it. "I mean… we're stuck together for who knows how long…" She mumbled, digging her toe into the floor.

Skye gave her a look, "You're not actually serious are you?" he asked, confused.
Sucking in a heavy breath, she nodded. "Mhmm." She muttered, curling her legs up closer to her. "You need to practice."

"No way, I won't do that to you" he said, freaking out a little bit, still uncomfortable with how close he still had to be to her.
"Do you have any better ideas?" She asked, looking towards him. "I don't really want an unstable telepathic next to me for who knows how long."

"I have the band, the whole thing doesn't work when I'm wearing it, and I can't take it off on my own, so I'm pretty sure you're safe, whereas if I practice on you it'll give me a near crippling migraine, and there is a slight chance I could hurt you and you'll lose your sanity."
"What sanity?" Connie asked, giving him a dead look. "What sane person would chase after a teenage boy, for literally no reason at all?" She hummed, shutting her eyes. "If anything, I might gain it back."

"Or you could end up comatose for the rest of your life." he said with a shrug.
"What difference does it make?" She asked, clearly not phased by his concerns. "My offer stands, if you ever need it. I have no other worth, if I'm being honest."

"Oh come on don't give me that crap!" he said.
"I'm being bluntly honest with you. You don't even have to tell me I'm 'totally worth something'. Like I'm absolute trash." She shrugged at him, making air quotes as she spoke.

"Got any good reasons for that logic?" asked Skye quietly.
"Nope, besides my spite. Like I honestly don't care about myself, I'm surprised I get sleep." She mumbled, looking him up and down. "I bet you've felt that way at one point."

"In a way, yes…" he said with a shrug, readjusting himself so he could lay back without dragging her down from her sitting position. "And I can definitely relate to the sleep thing, though for different reasons."
"You can't scold me, if you have felt the same." She mumbled, popping her lips. Looking down to him, she raised her eyebrow. "What's that? The reason I mean."

"I'm partly nocturnal." he said with a shrug, "Most nights I just can't sleep."
“Well, that’s gotta suck.” She mumbled, shutting her eyes. She knew she wasn’t being the best help, but what was she suppose to say? She was sorry for him?

"Mostly it's just boring." shrugged Skye, "Boring, and way too full of internal scrutiny."
"That makes sense. If you can't sleep what do you do?" She shrugged, running her fingers through her hair.

"Sounds like the life," She hummed, a slight smile. "Maybe not the dream life, but the life."

Skye shrugged, "Not really… but it suits me well enough.."
"Sounds like something my parents would hate, so I love the idea of it." He hummed.

Skye laughed, "If that's the only appeal then yopu should think about all the downsides of my life."
"I'd rather take it, then be under the roof of my parents. They're ridiculous." She whined, rather loudly at that.
