"Eh… maybe before the accident. They probably just thought I was stupid for getting shot out of the sky after that. That, on top of me being gay and no longer beneficial to heaven, I can't imagine they were too happy with me."
one on one?
He nodded again, forgetting about the door that separated them "did you happen to hear what I said before you passed out?" he asked softly, trying to change the subject
Nathaniel shook his head, looking confused. "No… my ears were probably ringing too much from falling. I was a little disoriented. Why?"
V sighed in relief "no reason,. Just wondering." He muttered. "So do you have any more questions?"
"Not that I can think of out of the top of his head." He's acting strangely… wonder what he said?
He nodded "have you decided what you want for breakfast or are you too comfortable to eat?"
"I'm, uh… I'm not hungry, thanks." Nathaniel stared at the ceiling again. There's no reason to take his food…
He glanced towards the door and smiled "you sure?I made muffins~"
Nathaniel was quiet for a moment. "I… suppose I could eat…"
V stood, happy that Nathaniel was finally coming out "banana or cinamon?" he asked
"Eh… either is fine." Nathaniel stood up and left the room, keeping his wings hidden behind his back. He knew a lot of other angels were uncomfortable with looking at them.
he handed Him a cinamon muffin. "my own recipe." he said, smiling at seeing the other man, "I'm guessing you're doing better? or dd my nagging finally get you up?"
"I'm okay… Well, as okay as can be expected, I suppose." Nathaniel shrugged, taking a bite of the muffin.
V nodded not knowing what to do. He set the tray down "you hate this, don't you?"
"Hate what?" Nathaniel looked up. "Being cooped up and useless? Absolutely. I hate being helpless."
He glanced his way but couldn't meet his eyes "I know, and I'm sorry. But you're only going to get worse if you try to go out. Believe I don't want to be the one that holds you back but I also don't want to see you get hurt more than you already have."
Nathaniel shrugged. "It probably just reminds me of when I hurt my wings. I was bedridden for ages, and it was awful. I'm sure you're not doing anything wrong."
"I'm making you suffer by staying here." He said
"It's really not your fault, honestly. I'll get over it."
V shook his head "sure." He turned Ed back around and started to put the muffins in a bag to save for later
Nathaniel sighed. "Look, what can I do to make you feel better about it?"
He smiled humorlessly "you don't have to do that, I'll be fine."
"Yeah, that's what I said, and you didn't believe me. Why should I believe you?"
He glared back at him "you shouldn't."
"Have I made you angry or something? What's with the face?"
He shook his head "it's not you, I'm just confused as to why it's so hard for people to accept help."
"People don't like to think that they aren't capable of doing things themselves. If they physically can't do something on their own, they feel weak and useless."
"I know but still, I don't like the feeling that I'm restricting someone, even if Im helping."
Nathaniel shrugged. "I think all angels have some desire to be free. Free as in, able to move about as they please, not necessarily not serving. It's just harder for me since I can't even fly when I am 'free'."
"we all want to be free, wings or not. How to achieve that is a while new battle." He said, neutralizing his features
