"I..i'm sorry…i'm overreacting.." She choked out.

Thomas walked up beside him and put his arm around Otis. "Just so you know..I don't think you're weird. I think you're really cool and brave for getting through this."

“No, you’re not. As far as I know, that was your greatest fear. You faced it, even if it was by accident.” Nikki said.

“Th-thanks…It’s…” Otis ended the incomplete statement with a series of short, trembling breaths.

@basil_

"That…that was so horrible…"

Thomas drew his arm away. "Sorry.."

"I'll bet." Nikki said, continuing the hug.

“It’s okay…there’s just…life.” Otis said. “Let’s try to hurry.”

@basil_

Macy stayed silent, grateful for Nikki.

"Course.." Thomas fell back into step behind Otis.

“Do you need anything from me?” Nikki asked, trying to find another way to help.

“I’m sorry I got us into this.” Otis said.

@basil_

Macy took a deep breath and wiped her eyes. "No, no i'm fine. But thank you.."

"You didn't get us into this, promise."

"If you're sure. If you're sure that you're fine, let's keep going." Nikki said. She handed Macy her hoodie.

Otis kept walking. "Get back in the canoe."

@basil_

"Yeah, i'm fine." She took the hoodie gratefully.

"Wh-why?"

"Okay. Let's go, we should be clo-" Nikki stopped. "I see it! I see the little building! We're less than 50 yards from the camp!"

"Just get in. Stay out of the cold." Otis said. He suddenly lept underwater and swam to the side of the boat. He came up shaking off his wet hair and shivering. "We should only be about 100 yards from camp."

@basil_

“Thank god.” Macy sighed with relief, starting towards the camp.

Thomas frowned but did as he said.

"Let's go." Nikki said, with a smile on her face as she kept walking. "25..10..5..we're here!" she announced. Nikki ran to hug her counselor and friends from past years. One of the counselors looked puzzled. "Where are the two boys?"

Otis was shivering like crazy. He could no longer feel his legs, and the current was getting stronger. He continued to pull himself by the small trees by the river. "50 yards."

@basil_

Macy stood shivering next to Nikki, keeping her head down.

“Otis. Get in the canoe. Now.” Thomas demanded, climbing out and keeping a firm grip on the canoe.

(this is legit the best RP ever. So much cuteness!)

Nikki put an arm around Macy’s shoulder. “Can you get a bunch of towels, Jill? I think the boys’ll need them. Knowing Otis and Thomas, they’ve probably set off.”

Otis simply ignored Thomas. He was too determined to give up now. He’s a kind and caring individual who would die for someone’s safety and well-being. “I would rather die than make you endure this.” he said, keeping his eyes forwards. “Besides, we’re almost there.”

@basil_

(Ikrrrr so fun)

“Well I’m not letting you pull me around.” Thomas said, not getting back in the canoe.

Macy gratefully relaxed into Nikki’s grip, worrying about the boys.

Nikki led Macy over to a backless bench near a calmer part of the water. “Are you okay?”

“Then I’ll stand here until you do. I have a lot of stuff on my mind, and I don’t want you freezing to be one of them. Get.In.The.Canoe.”

(I usually don't make Otis this stubborn, but I had to try :)

@basil_

Macy nodded, realizing how exhausted she was.

“I’m not going to freeze. We’re almost back just let me help.” He replied, walking the canoe forward.

Nikki snuggled with Macy for a while until the counselor brought towels. She handed two to Macy.

“I need someone in my life that I can protect from something happening to them. Right now, you’re the only person. Call me an overreactor, I don’t care. Get in the boat.”

(oooh, he's got some secrets ;)

@basil_

“Thanks.” Macy mumbled, drying herself off a bit.

“No. I don’t need protecting.” Thomas said firmly, laying his hand on Otis’s shoulder and continued walking.

Nikki hugged Macy cozily.

“Neither do I. Get in the boat.”

@basil_

“Do you think the boys are okay?” She asked quietly.

“No. Let’s not fight.” Thomas said.

Nikki sighed. “I hope so…”

Otis sighed. “Fine. Do what you want. But I’m not getting in the boat.” he said with a calm voice. He then stopped. “Thomas…we have bigger problems…” He pointed to a crocodile who was minding it’s own business a little bit upstream.

(dun dun DUUUUN)

@basil_

(uh Oh)

"Me too…" She said quietly.

"Uhhh that's not good. Do you think we could get to land?"

Nikki hugged Macy as she said, “They should be back by now.”

Otis backed himself up against the tip of the front of the canoe. He said quietly, “Thomas. Get. In. The. Boat. NOW.”

@basil_

"They should be.." Macy agreed worriedly.

On an instinct, Thomas grabbed Otis and put him in the boat as he climbed in himself.

Nikki hopped off of the bench and looked down the river. Her eyes widened. "Macy…don’t look.”

Silent tears streamed down Otis’ eyes as the crocodile approached. The tears blurred his vision. He simply mouthed the words, “Help.”, as he couldn’t hardly speak.

Thank goodness Nikki was a quick thinker. She glanced down at her shoes, too lightweight. She side-eyed Macy and ran over to her, grabbing the right shoe off of her friend. Nikki aimed and hurled the shoe, hitting the crocodile on the back. It turned around and swam towards the shore, where the shoe came from. It darted towards the shore, and the bank was just barely too big for it to climb up on. Nikki breathed rapidly. Thank goodness the croc swam away. Otis wiped tears from his eyes just in time to hear, “Otis, get the shoe!” from Jill, who was on the shore back at the canoe dock with Nikki, Macy, and the rest of the campers and counselors. Otis reached out and grabbed the shoe. “Thank you, Thomas.” he said quietly.

"Sorry, Mace." Nikki said.

@basil_

Macy gasped and ran towards Thomas as he climbed back onto shore, wrapping her arms around him and hugging him tightly. "Ohgodohgod are you okay?" She asked, ignoring the fact that she only had one shoe on. Thomas nodded and glanced back over at Otis. "No problem."

Otis pulled the boat back onto shore and tossed the shoe to Macy. Nikki ran to him and grasped him in a huge hug. She felt Otis’ intense shivers and the fact that he was sopping wet. “Otis, you need a towel.” Otis shook his head. “No. I’m fine. Give one to Thomas.” Nikki looked concerned, but she handed a towel to Thomas. She put an arm around Otis. “I hoped you were OK. A-Are you okay?” Otis nodded. Nikki handed Otis the last towel, but he handed it back to her. “You look cold.” he said. “Take it.” Nikki rolled her eyes. “Have you even seen yourself?” Otis nodded. “They need towels more than I do.”

@basil_

"Otis. Take the towel." Thomas said, handing it back to him as Macy handed Thomas hers. "Thanks Mace. What happened? You're soaking wet." He asked, looking down at her concernedly. "I fell in." She said quietly, not meeting his eyes.

Otis had learned better than to argue with Thomas. “Thanks.” Jill (the canoe instructor) said to the group, “I’m going to call Courtney and Kaleb, the camp directors, and tell them to close off the canoes.” Nikki nodded. “Good idea.” The cabins headed up to the main camp, everyone else in the cabins staying quiet about the canoeing incident. Everyone was fairly sour that they couldn’t do the canoes. Nikki and Otis drifted towards Thomas and Macy. “That was some adventure we both had, huh? How was you two boys’ little adventure?” Nikki asked with a slightly joking smile.

(sorry, I went a little fast :)
