Ashley's POV:
I barely suppressed a smile at the thought of Sterling making Eden fall for him.
"Oh, really? And what have you found out?" I asked slowly.
Ashley's POV:
I barely suppressed a smile at the thought of Sterling making Eden fall for him.
"Oh, really? And what have you found out?" I asked slowly.
Eden's POV:
I rubbed the back of my head, eyes cast down.
"That I'm afraid," I answered quietly. "I'm afraid, Lee. The last time I let someone in like that, he betrayed my trust like it was nothing. He appeared like an angel, hiding his devil inside. I'm scared if I end up letting Sterling in, I'll end up in the same situation."
Ashley's POV:
"E… I know you probably don't know him very well yet, but he's not like that. He wouldn't just use you until he found no use for you. If he's trying to pursue you, then he means it. I think he genuinely likes you," I said softly. "What do you think?"
Eden's POV:
I leaned back on my hands, looking at the ceiling.
"I don't know," I murmured. "He looks sincere. I… feel comfortable around him."
Ashley's POV:
That was good. Comfortable was good.
"Have you really given him a chance, though?" I asked gently.
Eden's POV:
I shook my head slowly.
"I'm scared," I repeated. "I want him around me but when he is, I'm scared. I feel like one day he'll realize I'm not enough, so I want to prevent myself from falling for him. But it's difficult when he gets considerate."
Ashley's POV:
"He's considerate?" I asked, grinning slightly. "That's sweet… But, Eden… You don't have to be scared. Not everyone is… him…"
Eden's POV:
I furrowed my eyebrows at Ashley's grin but did not comment on it.
"That's really easy to say," I replied with a sigh. "Especially when the reasons why they all asked me out was to see what was behind my walls like I was a puzzle or a video game. I know Sterling's not the same, I know he isn't, but it's difficult to believe otherwise."
Ashley's POV:
I nodded slowly. "I know, E. And I'm glad you know, too. I think, if you let him get closer, you'll be pleasantly surprised."
Eden's POV:
I, once more, unconsciously ran a finger over my lips, feeling them throb lightly again.
"He… kissed me a few days ago," I admitted, feeling heat creep up my cheeks. "I've been conflicted ever since."
Ashley's POV:
My grin widened as I watched her, knowing what she felt. "I know about that, actually… And I also know that he didn't mean to ditch you. He was just confused and didn't want to hurt you."
Eden's POV:
I whipped my head in Ashley's direction, eyes wide.
"He told you?" I said in disbelief. "What else did he tell you?"
Ashley's POV:
Whoops… That might've been a mistake…
"Oh… He didn't, like, come bragging about it. If anything, he didn't want to talk about it. I think he was embarrassed because he thought that you really hated him.
"But anyway… Lucas and I were worried about you, so we went to see Sterling because Luca had noticed you guys hanging around each other. He just said that he really likes you, is all," I rambled, shrugging.
Eden’s POV:
I relaxed when Ashley elaborated on what she meant. Of course Sterling wouldn’t do that, not to my best friend and brother. Especially not to them.
“Lee, what did you do when you realized you liked my brother?”
Ashley's POV:
I was normally quite good at expressing my thoughts, and I had almost no hesitation about it. That had gotten me into trouble a few times, actually…
When it came to Lucas, though, I couldn't help but grin and blush and just get all flustered.
"Well, um… I tried to find ways to hang out with him more, even if it was just for a few minutes. I'd purposefully seek him out in school, "accidentally" text him when I meant to text you. And "accidentally" call him, too…"
Eden’s POV:
I hummed softly to myself, taking in her words.
“So basically, you used me as a step stool,” I said, bobbing my head slowly. “To boost your relationship. Funny.”
Ashley's POV:
My eyes widened instantly. I was just digging myself a hole today…
"What? No! That's not what I meant. I just– You– I, uh… Um…" I stuttered, unsure of what to say.
Eden’s POV:
I cracked a smile at Ashley, chucking slightly.
“I’m kidding,” I told her with a small smile. “We… haven’t been hanging out recently, have we…”
Ashley's POV:
At Eden's words, I let out a sigh of relief. She was teasing me… Gosh, now I just felt dumb.
"No, we haven't been… You wanna hang out here a bit longer?" I asked, my smile returning.
Eden’s POV:
I fell back on the bed, heaving a tired sigh.
“Can I stay over the night instead?” I mumbled. “I’m too tired to walk back home.”
Ashley's POV:
I sighed overdramatically and fell beside her. "I suppose… If you must."
Eden’s POV:
I rolled my eyes at Ashley but otherwise said nothing, staring into the ceiling.
“Three girls tried to pick a fight with me the other day,” I suddenly remembered, a scowl on my features. “Perhaps I haven’t been too harsh in my reign. People are forgetting how to behave.”
Ashley’s POV:
I blinked and turned my head to give my best friend a look. “Eden… What did you do this time?”
Eden's
"I didn't start it," I rolled my eyes. "I was nice. Then they got on my nerves."
Ashley’s POV:
“Dude, you’re going to end up getting suspended or something one day,” I sighed, looking back up at the ceiling. “Just make sure that you don’t get caught doing something you shouldn’t be…”
Eden's POV
I rolled my eyes.
"I didn't start it," I repeated. "And I only scared them."
Ashley:
“Hm… Okay… You wanna play a game or something? We could go play something in the Wii,” I suggested, glancing over at her again. “I just got the new ‘Just Dance’.”
Eden's POV:
I shrugged.
"I guess that sounds good, I guess."
(Skip?)
(Yes. xD)
