Arvil stared into her eyes with deep intensity, his face twisted seriously.
“Then get to know me,” he breathed. “What’s holding you back?”

Daisy blinked at the intensity in his eyes. What— what was that all about? Why was he looking at her like that? It was enough to make a shiver run down her spine, her breath catching imperceptibly in her throat.
“Then tell me about yourself,” she murmured quietly, pulling her food from her bag. “Anything. I don’t care what.”
Arvil nearly broke the look on his face with an amused smile. Sometimes he found himself too cruel. Was she really affected by that? He felt satisfied. If he was going to be engaged to her, he should know what effects he was going to have on her. And what she was going to do to him, of course.
“Well, I am ridiculously hot, for one,” Arvil replied with a cheeky grin. “And so are you, it seems. Maybe just a little less than me, but you are.”

The cheeky little— He knew. He was trying to rile her up! Oh, she would get him back for this…
For now, though, she narrowed her eyes before rolling them with a snort. “Of course I am. You, on the other hand…” She shrugged as if she couldn’t be bothered to finish the sentence.
“Dangerously attractive? Breathtaking? Gorgeous? Hot?” Arvil supplied, the grin still wide on his features. Oh, she was going to hate him, but she was so amusing. “Why thank you, Daisy. I’m glad you think so.”

Daisy scoffed, rolling her eyes again. “I was thinking more along the lines of arrogant, cocky, and egotistical.”
“What’s so arrogant and egotistical about admitting what you are?” Arvil’s eyes crinkled with a smile.

“You’re immodest about it,” Daisy muttered, taking a bite of her food. She might not have to speak now, but she would still have to listen to him… Great.
“You know it,” Arvil winked at her before he grabbed his own bag of food, inhaling deeply. “Wow, it’s been a while since I had a burger. This looks so good.”

Daisy rolled her eyes (again) and swallowed her bite of food. “It’s feom my favorite burger place, so I’d hope it was good,” she said with a shrug before taking another bite.
Arvil’s eyes caught a shadow from under the door and he smirked. Just as the handle turned, he leaned closer towards Daisy, eyes falling on the mayo on the corner of her mouth, and gently wiped it off with his thumb. The door opened.
It slammed shut. Arvil grinned, leaning back in his chair.
“And now our relationship will spread through the media like a wildfire,” he grinned.

Daisy had immediately tensed when he got close to her. She heard the door open right as he wiped something off of her lips, and then it shut loudly.
“So it would seem,” she murmured, wiping her lips with a napkin.
Arvil took a bite out of his burger, humming as he chewed. He opened the laptop on his desk, a piece of French fry in his mouth.
“So,” he murmured as he opened a program. “How have you been, Daisy darling?”

“I’ve been fine, Arvil sweetheart,” Daisy replied, narrowing her eyes slightly at the pet name. “You?”
“Wonderful,” Arvil shot her another grin. He ate another piece of French fries, typing away on his laptop. “Is it all right if I work while you’re here?”

Daisy shrugged and swallowed her mouthful. “Go ahead. Even though you never actually told me anything about yourself.”
Arvil opened up an app, furrowing his eyebrows. It was working all right. For now. He pressed the keys quickly, moving the cursor around as he played.
“Well, if there’s nothing to start from, I can’t say…” Arvil murmured just as the tutorial started. “But well… I’m an only child, but I grew up with cousins. I’m 27. I graduated from UMKC.” He paused, “What else do you want to know?”

Daisy shrugged, popping a fry into her mouth. “What’s your degree? Hobbies besides this? Random things you like to do?”
Arvil pressed the keys with one hand, tapping the cursor with the other. “I majored in Engineering and Computer Science. I like to tinkle with things. I like to create new games. I’m a nerd, in short, but I’m a hot nerd.”

Daisy chuckled softly, shaking her head a bit. “Doesn’t surprise. Except for the ‘hot’ part,” she half-joked.
Arvil shot her a quick smirk. “So really, you’re just saying my hotness surprises you,” he teased. “I’m touched, Daisy.”

Daisy clamped her mouth shut and glared at him. “Stop twisting my words, Arvil.”
“Now when did I do that?” Arvil winked at her before his game froze. He cursed. “Goddamn it.”

“What happened?” Daisy questioned, glad to move on from the conversation.
“It’s a new game my team and I were developing,” Arvil explained. “But it keeps crashing. We’ve updated it countless times, but it doesn’t work on a lot of devices.”

“Is it maybe the coding that’s not working in the devices? Do you maybe have to change it for them?” Daisy suggested, moving to a seat closer so she could see the screen.
“We tried,” Arvil said, closing the app. “We’ve even created something additional to manage the pixel level of the game. Some servers end up working, but others crash.”

Daisy clocked her tongue and glanced over the game. “Have you tried using an old version? Like, changing the old version up a bit to fit?”
“It’s a new game, so no,” Arvil shook his head. “But I’ll go back to the previous updates I’ve made to it to see what’s wrong.”

Daisy nodded and went back to eating her burger and fries. "Good luck, Arvil."
