Cas kept looking over the page, searching for shorter words. He was definitely struggling with a few of them, but he was doing better than he expected.

Halm smiled softly as they worked, occasionally helping Cas sound something out when need be. Still, he mostly let Cas figure it out on his own. Eventually, he paused.
"You're doing amazing," Halm said, smiling at Cas.
"Thanks, love…" He mumbled, trying to stay focused. When he thought really hard, he seemed to do better than when he was distracted.

Halm turned back to the recipe book. This time, he chose a more complicated word- 'chocolate.' He didn't say anything, he just waited with his finger under the word.
Cas turned his eyes to it and seemed to grow nervous again. "Um…" He glanced over to the picture of cookies and the word 'chip' beside 'chocolate'. After a few more seconds of processing this information, he spoke again. "Chocolate…"

Halm was a bit surprised by how quickly Cas figured it out.
"Good job," he said with a small smile. He knew Cas hadn't sounded out the word. "Context clues can be good too."
Cas smiled a bit. "Cool… how much more of this are we doing today?" He asked.

"Well, how much more do you think you want to do? You've made a lot of progress so far." Halm smiled even more when he saw Cas smile, giving him a little hug.
"Um… I dunno. It definitely stresses me out a lot, so not too much more."
