“Why not? Drunk humans are hilarious. I’ve seen some on the shore line on previous visits. All wobbly and falling over their feet.” Cas replied.
Private with Carrot!!!!!
"Drunk humans also have tendencies of doing stupid things." Kayla informed him. "Alcohol drowns their judgment."
Cas tilted his head, "Oh.. I've never had human alcohol so I wouldn't know. Why aren't you with your crew?"
Kayla shrugged. "Like I said. Drunk men tend to do stupid things, and I'd rather not be around to get blamed for them." She explained.
"That sounds fair enough. Mermaid don't tend to get drunk, it's fairly annoying." Cas said.
"How do mermaids even drink?" Kayla asked, a curious smile edging its way across her face. "You're underwater, do you even need to drink?"
Cas chuckled lightly and nodded, "Yes, we drink. I mean I don't know how it works exactly, I guess the same as up here only we're underwater."
Kayla chuckled softly. "I guess we'll go with magic for now." She said with a smile. "What's your life like underwater?"
Cas rubbed at the back of his neck, "You know, it's not terrible. I'm more of a… traveler? Wanderer? I move around a lot, things to see and do, you know?"
Kayla smiled at that. "Wish I could do the same. I'm stuck on a fishing boat." She said with a frown. "I'd love to see the world."
Cas leaned forwards, "Couldn't you buy you're own boat? Travel around on your own? How much do boats even cost?"
"Boats cost a lot more than you think, and I need to provide for my family." Kayla informed him. "I have to stick around here."
He nodded a little, "Makes sense. I've never had much of a family so I don't quite understand but it's good you're loyal to them."
"You don't have a family?" Kayla asked, a concerned look crossing her face. "I know it might not be my place to ask, but why?"
Cas shrugged, waving a hand idly, "Long story, very boring, trust me you wouldn't wanna listen to it." He chuckled nervously.
"I have all the time in the world but you don't want to share it, that's fine." Kayla said. "Do you usually come around here?"
Cas relaxed at the change of topic, “I mean as often as I can. I’ve been here a few times now, has the best view of the sunset I’ve ever seen.”
Kayla nodded. "I'll agree with that. The way the sun makes all the colors in the sky, it just breathtaking." She said with a smile as she looked over at the sun, which was now halfway "in the water".
"You should see it underwater," He said, "The way the light filters through the water and some of the plants depending on where you are is beautiful."
"Oh that has to be beautiful!" Kayla said. "Maybe I'll have to try that some time."
“If you want I can show you. Not now, but at some other point,” He rubbed at the back of his neck, “If you want to, that is.”
"I'd love that!" Kayla said with a smile. "It almost sound like your asking me out on a date." She teased with a wink.
Cas stuttered and blushed, clearly not used to flirting, “No- No that’s not.. a-as friends, I meant.”
Kayla tipped her head back as she laughed. "Calm down. I know what you mean." She said as her laughter died down. "I'm just teasing you."
Cas pouted a little, “Well that isn’t very fair now, is it?”
"Fair? How is it not fair?" She grinned as she raised an eyebrow.
He shrugged, "Dunno. It just is. And I am not obligated to give you a better answer."
"That doesn't make any sense." She said as she shook her head. "Am I making you fall for me already?" She winked.
Cas narrowed his eyes before he rolled them, “No, you’re not. I’m just not used to flirting is all.”
"Well that's pretty obvious." Kayla said with a chuckle. "Why not, though? You're pretty good looking. I though mermaid's would be swarming you."
