Bryan blushed visibly and hugged himself, sighing softly. He couldn't see his phone anywhere. Someone probably took it from him when he wasn't paying any mind. Hopefully he found it somewhere before he had to go home.
Rebooting an idea I had (one-on-one//closed)
Tyler placed a hand on the middle of Bryan’s back, “Are you done making a fool of yourself mate? Because if you are then we’ll be on our way,” He looked to to Bryan, “Come on.”
Bryan glanced up at Tyler with a small blink and let himself be lead away. Once they were out of earshot, Bryan paused.
"What are you doing? He'll come for you next if you're not careful."
“I don’t give a shit, let him,” Tyler muttered, taking his hand away from Bryan, “No one deserves to be treated that way.”
"It's better than someone else. And Jason doesn't care. He knows I'm a freak." He crossed his arms protectively again.
“You’re not a freak,” Tyler said firmly, trying to calm himself just a little, “Look, I don’t know what’s going on in this town, but there seems to be a Lorna of talk about powers and magic and whatever. Well, I don’t have magic either, I didn’t even know it existed.”
"In this town, everyone has Magic. It's because of a chemical in the air that was released from some sick science experiment a lot of years back, and it was passed down in genetics. Sometimes people can just walk around for long enough and gain that. I bet you could if you wanted. But I can't. I'm a freak."
"No, you're just different. And there's nothing wrong with that. Just because you're not going to become the next member of the Justice League doesn't mean you're not special. You're not a freak and everybody in there can go to Hell for thinking it."
Bryan shook his head, sighing. "It's not like that! Sore thumbs like me who were born in his area very rarely don't have magic. I'm just a pathetic boy that can't defend himself."
"You're not pathetic," Tyler mumbled, rubbing his face with both of his hands, "So let me get this straight. This entire town has Magic, you don't and you're bullied for it?"
"Yes. It's pathetic that I can't get Magic," Bryan explained with a soft sigh, looking down at his feet.
"Hey," Tyler started softly, "I know we've only just met, and I'm clueless about this whole Magic thing but I don't think you're pathetic. If you're pathetic then so am I."
"Yeah. Then you'll develop your own Magic," He whispered softly, looking up at a suddenly passing student.
"You don't know if I will or not," He replied quietly, "Do you wanna skip the last few periods with me? I think we both need a break."
Bryan chewed on his tongue. He was sure his parents wouldn't care. They always wanted him to take breaks from his intense classes, trying and failing for him to take easier ones.
"I guess I will," He said softly, smiling faintly.
Tyler smiled back, “Great. Come on then.” He led them out of the school and into the fresh air.
Bryan shuffled after the other, looking over his shoulder briefly at the shouts and teases he got from the other students. He inhaled softly when he stepped out into the sunshine, smiling.
“You should smile more often,” Tyler looked over to Bryan and smiled a little himself, “It suits you better then a frown.”
Bryan perked up a little when Tyler looked over, his smile simmering out. "Oh, thank you," He said with a faint blush.
“Just tellin’ the truth. And where’d you’re smile go? We’re free of that prison.” He pointed to the school building with a grin, “And good riddance.”
Bryan stuck his hands in his pockets. "I guess. I'm kind of upset someone took my phone, though."
Tyler frowned, “Yeah… that sucks… I mean, someone might give it back.”
Bryan sighed softly. "Maybe. Anyway… what now?"
Tyler shrugged, “Know anywhere relaxing in this place?”
"There's a cafe down the hill from here. But then we'd have to walk back up."
“I don’t mind walking, depends if you want to go or not.”
"Yeah, let's go. I've always wanted to go down there." Bryan checked his pockets, feeling his wallet with a faint sigh of relief.
Tyler nodded, "Perfect. Lead the way."
Bryan shuffled in front of him and started down the hill. He looked bac to make sure he was following.
Tyler sped up his pace, walking right next to Bryan, "So… care to tell me a little about yourself?"
