"Hey, nice fennec fox." Ethyn said, his blunt and sarcastic personality seemed to slip away as he watched Kain with the plush. "Reminds me of-" He trailed off, his face became guarded. He turned away in silence.

Kain smiled but was quick to realize the look on the mans face so he walked up to him and grabbed his hand "Hi"
"Hi kid." He let his thanks show on his face. He bit his lip. "Sorry, you just reminded me of someone I used to know."
group
"We all have someone that can do that i guess" Kain gave him a smile
"I guess we can." He gave Kain's hand a small squeeze.

Kain looked into the man's eyes "My name's Kain but I don't know your name. May I?"
group
Kain walked over to Ava but pulled the man with him as he took Ava's hand in his other hand
"I'm Ethyn." He smiled and did a weird salute like thing where he touched the back of his pointer finger and the tip of his thumb to his forehead and moved it away from him, spreading his fingers as he did. "It's nice to meet you Kain."

Ava felt Kain's fingers intertwine with hers, and she gripped them tightly. She took his hand and started up the fire escape after Kye.
"So, why are we going up a fire escape?" Ethyn asked, staring up at Kye.
"Mm, true," Ethyn said, grabbing the ladder above his head, and pulling himself up in one go.

Kain lifted his free hand that had held his fox before but he had since put it in his backpack "I'm a little scared of heights"
group
"I can deal with them i just don't like them" Kain said in a small voice but he knew that Kye had heard him
"If it's hard for you, I can carry you and you can close your eyes." Ethyn offered.
Kye gave a quiet sigh. "I did not sign up to take care of children. Hosea this is your forte, why am I doing your job?" he grumbled to himself. He was trying to remind himself that these were children, and they did not grow up the way he had. He started climbing back down towards the boy.

"I'll take him," Ava spoke up, his small hand still clutching hers. "You can just… lead us or whatever," she told Kye, hoisting Kain up. She wrapped his small legs around her waist and peeked her head out above his left shoulder. Holding him gave her some comfort, she could pretend that she was holding Katie. Like old times, before they stole her away. Ava shook her head, in an attempt to clear the bad memories from her head.
Ethyn shrugged and scanned the streets below them. "It doesn't matter, just go! Crowley's gonna come round that corner soon and if we're here, it's shoot to kill and I'm the only one who'll survive that. Go!"

Ava blinked. "I-I'll be fine," she sighed. Maybe she would, maybe she wouldn't. Katie had been six years old, but Kain was nine. He was heavier, and she knew she might tire out, her arms might give in, but it was worth it. Somehow she felt safer when he was around, even though he was only nine years old. it gave her a purpose, something to do.
group
(Kain is actually really light for his age)
Kain held onto Ava afraid of letting go but also afraid to be a burden
school
(Ah. But still, Kain's a bit heavier than Katie was, since she and Ava often skipped meals while on the streets)
group
(oh that is sad)
school
(Yes it is)
(Also I'm going to wait for Kye to reply)
group
(thats cool)
Kain closed his eyes and thought of one single flower. It was a beautiful blue-ish white flower he couldn't remember the name but it had five petals that were overlapped by three others the smell was always comforting the only comfort he used to have

Ava passed Kye, seeing the opportunity and almost looked down for a second but remembered that would only induce fear and she forced her eyes to face forward.
Ethyn kept pausing to look around the streets below them. He often stared at buildings like they weren't there and he was scanning the streets on the other side.
