Firiko startedin surprise when he found he could no longer move, What did he do?! he thought as he watched the spirit wolf. the wolf prowled around them for a few minutes, but then he left.
Ren wanted to make a comment, but being frozen stopped that. He inwardly sighed.
As the wolf left, Reed lifted the spell. “We’re good, guys.”
"What kind of spell was that?" asked Firiko letting his fire ring fade.
Ren stayed silent, taking a small step back from the two.
“I’m not totally sure. I learned it when I was really little. My mom used to use it on us. It’s easy.”
"Nice" said Firiko grinning. "that should come in handy if we run into any more!" he said
“Great, now I’m the only one without magic powers.” Ren sighed.
Reed looked at Ren. “Be glad. It brings NOTHING but misery.”
"That also means that if we get separated the monsters are more likely to hunt me and Reed rather than you." said Firiko laughing.
“How reassuring guys.” Ren replied with a playfull eye roll.
Reed laughed, a real laugh, for the first time in a long time.
"You take what you can get!" said Firiko. "Anyway you 2 should get some shuteye" he motioned to the hollow. "I'll stand guard, and I promise If I get tired I'll wake one of you to take watch"
“You better,” Ren said, patting Firiko on the shoulder, “Goodnight Guys.” He said, climbing into the hollow.
Reed nodded, and then said, “Wait!” He took off his bag and duh through it for a moment, procuring a bottle of pitch black liquid. He handed it to Firiko, saying, “It’ll keep you up all night, no tiredness or fatigue.”
Firko handed it back, "I wont need it" he said, "I have a link to this forest, the energies here will help me stay awake.." he said
Ren snorted, “Alright, we get it, you’re cool yadda yadda.”
“I’ll save it for Ren’s turn.” Reed said jokingly, winking at Ren.
"Right" laughed Firiko making himself comfortable on the branch, "go to sleep you two"
“This is by,lying and I don’t appreciate it.” Ren grumbled, “G’night..”
“Night.” Reed said, rolling his eyes good-naturedly.
Firiko waited until they were fast asleep before shifting, becoming a large winged wolf, whose fur was the same as Firiko's hair. Now to watch and wait
Ren surprisingly slept… alright that night. Compared to previous evening at least.
Reed dug around in his bag some more and found a sleeping potion. He took a long drink from it, and almost immediately fell asleep.
Firiko immersed himself in the auras of the forest, watching and waiting for morning to come.
Ren woke up with a small jolt, rubbing his face with both hands and an inaudible groan.
“Morning.” Reed said, as he noticed Ren. He had woken up a few hours before.
Firiko heard that the others were awake but didn't move from his position. his eyes were closed, but he wasn't asleep, in fact this was the most aware he could get, since in this state he could sense anything that came within a kilometer of the hollow.
“Mornin’,” Ren replied, rubbing at his eyes, “How’d you sleep?”
“Fine.” Reed said, realizing that that may have been the best sleep he’d had in months.
