THE CIRCUS DELIRIUM // OXO // CLOSED!

DISCLAIMER- The Circus Delirium deals with topics like highly controversial "freak shows." This roleplay does not claim to be a perfect or (even realistic) portrayal of how these human 'attractions' were treated, nor is it trying to make light of what happened to the affected parties. It's for entertainment ONLY.

Backstory- The Circus Delirium is first and foremost a traveling circus, yes, but it also has a number of… sideshow acts that could classify it as something more along the lines of a so-called freak show. These human attractions are from all over the world, and are trained in a number of traditional circus acts, as well as things like singing or dancing. The troupe travels across the United States, only stopping in one place for a few nights before packing up and heading back out on the road. While most of the performers are "freaks" in some way, whether it be that they have some form of physical anomaly or just extreme body modifications, regular circus performers are also welcomed with open arms at the Circus Delirium. This is set in the late 1950s/early 1960s.

Rules-

• Explicit language is welcomed with open arms! You may NOT, however, use slurs against any person or character. If you feel like you need to use them that badly, talk to the person it's directed to first .
• Gratuitous and dramatized violence is allowed, and definitely has its place. However, just like there is a time for work and play, there is a time for bloodshed and a time for everything else. Don't go around picking fights with everyone you see just because you can.
• Romance is welcomed, but stay classy please. I trust you.
• I don't expect all of your characters to look like Lindsay or Robert down the block, in fact, I encourage that they don't, but please at least try to keep them realistic. Ideally any mutations your character may have have been at least Googled first.
• When filling out the character templates, please, please, please check that you've filled it all out.

Act(s) (1-2 MAX)- Just kinda….him? He walks out and interacts with the crowds, often times accepting offers to lift people up with only one arm. Just typical strong-man stuff but with a tall guy

Personality- He is a reserved, intelligent young man that has a tenancy to take things much more seriously than he should. Every move he makes is a carefully calculated decision. He believes that his height, even around his fellow performers, makes him an outlier

Appearance- He has medium length light brown hair that he slicks back every morning with gel, but it will often begin to come undone by the end of the day and falls over his face. His skin is naturally tan, even during the winter. His jawline is almost always dusted with a thin covering of hair, despite the fact he shaves every morning. Alex is well over 7 feet tall.

Tattoos? Piercings?- A tattoo of a mountain on the back of his hand

Strengths/Weaknesses- Well, he is ridiculously strong, due to his overdeveloped muscles. He shuts don whenever he starts getting shouted at, however, curling up as tight as he can on the ground and covering his ears with his hands

Fears- Spiders. Mans will literally scream like a little girl and run

Prejudices?- He sees people who are smaller than him as fragile and is always fearful of hurting people

Act(s) (1-2 MAX)- Romeo's only got one act, but it takes up a lot of his time. As his stage name suggests, Jackson's act entails a lot of working with animals. His favorite animal to work with is his pair of borzois, Mercutio and Benvolio (a play off of his name). He's also got an act with two capuchin monkeys- Cesario and Sebastian.

Personality- Romeo is a huge flirt. He's also incredibly extroverted, loyal, and maybe a little too chatty for his own good. Romeo takes pride in his quick wit and charm, although it can definitely come off as childishness.

Appearance- Romeo is around 5'7" feet tall. He takes a lot of pride in his hair and face, and spends more time than he probably should in the morning on his appearance. His hair is a blackish-brown, and slightly waved. Clothing-wise, Romeo doesn't mind attracting attention with his more effeminate style of dress, usually involving long, loose skirts. He's covered in pale freckles.

Strengths/Weaknesses- As his act suggests, one of Romeo's strengths is his ability to make quick bonds with animals. Social situations tend to be his forte as well. In terms of weaknesses, though, he isn't amazing at dealing with sharp movements, many times flinching away from them.

Fears- Injury, sick people, needles, and getting older.

Prejudices?- Romeo tries to stay away from the incredibly young if he can help it. He really hates having to interact with children.

Romeo whistled a jaunty tune as he walked outside of his trailer, making his way to the elaborately decorated cherry red and gold wagons. He could hear his dogs howl as he came closer. He grabbed onto the cage bars, partially sticking his face through them.

"Good morning, my loves! Who's ready to eat?" His voice was cheerful when he spoke to the dogs.

Alex lumbered out of his own at around the same time, having to stoop over a considerable amount to fit out of the door. His shoulders barely made it through each side of the frame, which was something he'd gotten used to after a while. Most places weren't built for guys his size, so he had to adapt.

He wore a simple linen shirt and a pair of black pants, choosing to go barefoot at the moment. Only one pair of shoes fit him and he preferred to keep those things as clean as he could manage, since they were a part of his costume.

Dogs barking caught his attention, and a quick glance showed Romeo, bent over in front of their cage with his head sticking through the bar. After a moment of thought, he made his way over to the much smaller man.

"Mornin'," he mumbled, his Southern accent twisting the word softly.

"Oh! Hello!" He pulled his head out, but stuck both of his arms in to pet the dogs.

Romeo vaguely knew Alex, although he had never spent much time with him. He looked him up and down, rubbing his eyes.

"How goes the day so far?" Romeo had an Italian accent when he spoke. It was thin, sure, but it was thick enough to be noticeable.

"T's jus' beginnin'," he mumbled, the statement emphasized by a long, drawn out yawn.

Alex watched Romeo's act for the past couple of shows, finding the man's connection with the animals to be very entertaining to watch. And much more interesting than his own.

"How long have y'had the pups?" Alex asked, gesturing to the cage.

"Oh, six months now? They're such sweethearts.. This one is Mercutio." He gestured to the first dog, which was shoving its long face through the bars.

"The other one is Benvolio." Romeo laughed, looking between Alex and the dogs. "I think today I'm going to let them out, it's been too long. Two days, the poor things. Their leashes are right over there, do you mind handing them to me?" Romeo pointed to the end of the wagon, only a few feet away. They were rather plain compared to the gilded wagon- just some brown leather strips. He ruffled his hair, glancing around the campsite.

"Are you performing tonight?"

"Yeah," he grunted, reaching over and grabbing the leaches without moving from his spot. His arms were that long. "I always feel weird goin' out there after the trapeze acts, though. Makes me feel a bit plain, y'know?"

"Oh, sure. I know what you mean. I always feel like I'm just the warmup, you know? Well- I am, but it's not a good feeling." Romeo laughed, shaking his head. He took the leashes, making his way over to the wagon's doors. Romeo cracked them open, blocking the dogs from escaping just yet with an arm. After clipping on the leashes he finally let them out- they really were gorgeous dogs. Borzois, so they were tall and slim. It was clear that Romeo took good care of them.
